Back in the day when I was trying to set up shipping gear for a command center to site we were allowed to can the Hill by name. One vendor wrote Dwyer Hill in his email and CCd the client. The client then called me to give me shit. I said dude its on Google maps. Most of us guys called you Secret Squirrels 😅
My grandpa was in WW2, he served as a mechanic on bases fixing, cars, trucks, tanks and ect. Dday is only battle he fought in, he drove a tank, which was blown up early on by the germans shortly after it landed on the beaches. my grandpa body was filled with tank shrepnel until his death in 1989. He walked with cruches, walkers and had a wheel chair. I was 4 when he died. He was Irish man in England army. I dont know all the details, he rarly talked about it to people including to his own family.
My uncle told me the same thing a few times: If you wanna fight someone first look at his ears, if they look like raisin just be a polite man, because that means they had their fights and they can beat the shit out of you.
My buddy was in your unit, probably at the same time as you. He came back from a tour overseas with a full beard and I walk right by him cuz I did recognize him.
Maybe next spring or summer i come to ottawa for a weekend to take some classes. I wont ask you abunch of questions about JTF2 and ect. I met Devon Larratt 3 times in Toronto at arm wrestling events, i am a fan of his but i not interested in actually arm wrestling, i just like watching it. If i come down to ottawa it be for Direct Action self defense class.
what was your take on the MRR?? I used them when employed with corrections canada (catwalk, towers mobile patrols etc) and found them to be very accurate but very front heavy.
I'd live to know what changes you'd make to something like the wk180. How to improve the trigger, and other modifications. You have access to and can afford high end gear. Can you challenge yourself and try more budget stuff and what budge gear would you recommend to new shooters?
Regarding the cans, I've heard second hand that in Afghanistan during raids on soft targets, our boys would sometimes take their suppressors off just for the psychological impact from the gunshot sounds. Not sure how true this is though.
Love your stuff. I think it would be cool to see you work with stuff you aren't comfortable with. Like let's see you work with, and review some the non restricted rifles. The stuff average canadians can get their hands on.
If we were coming to take your classes for the first time what kit should we show up with and where would you recommend we get it? How much have you tested it?
I'd also like to see more drills and see if you can make your camera work cinematic. Let's also see some react videos to different things, video games, movies, or actual combat footage. How about commentary on other units like NTOG, or the Patricia's?
I think the beard thing is just about 1. Being more respected amongst the locals during GWOT days. Having a beard helped you blend in as a man too 2. You look like a warrior, and separates you from big army since they had requirements for shaving.
Foregrips are better for long battles. Wont burn your hand. I think U.S. guys at Korengal shot their M4s till meltdown. May be a stretch for in and out DI hits but I like foregrips. Always though a sharp checkered titanium grip would be cool. Crack heads and jaws.
