They didn't say that they were innocent. They said they didn't murder the victims. We don't know what they did to be so close to the murdered people. They would've probably got the same sentence as before. And judging by the number of comments here nobody still cares about them. They should just leave it alone before they end up back in jail. 😂👍
He should serve one year for every year his victims served and put him in general population. At very least he should serve as much as the longest incarceration his victims didn’t
That corrupt officer took 62 years from these innocent men--that's the equivalent of a life. His punishment for taking a life should be at least 20 years in prison.
If the world were fair he would never be a free man again...... He toyed with people's lives as a career advancement. If he is allowed A free man he should not even be allowed to have citizenship
🤦♂️ Why is it so hard to understand that the cop may have received zero punishment. That’s why occasionally murderers only get a few years in prison because otherwise the case is so weak they may get nothing.
Qualified immunity has nothing to do with it. Qualified immunity protects cops from civil law suites, not criminal prosecution. However I think a 1 year sentence is crazy. It should have been much more.
Especially prosecutors and judges, the police are secondary as the judges and prosecutors protect their domestic terrorist criminal thugs in the clown costumes
Can you imagine being an innocent man sitting in a courtroom and listening to a police officer lie on the stand as to your guilt, trying to put you away for decades?
And of course the morons believe him simply because he’s a cop because we all know they would never lie.🥴The prosecutor and judge on those cases are pathetic!
@Charles Hanks. If I’m not mistaken, that’s generally what happens, or at the very least gets reviewed. Something very similar happened with another crooked detective and everything she was involved with was reinvestigated.
All his victims should sui this ex-cop directly so that for the rest of his life he'll be working for them. Let me tell you when you hit someone in his pockets it's a nightmare.
Unfortunately due to qualified immunity, the taxpayers end up paying those bills. I’m not saying that they don’t deserve to be paid; it just sucks balls that cops don’t feel any repercussions for their actions!

“a combination of 62 years that these men have served, and he got one?” We all feel that. There’s no dam way that justice is being served here. There’s little to deter the next rotten investigator, prosecutor, judge, from egregiously abusing innocent defendants. One stinking year.
This judge should be sentenced to 20 years to allow someone who tampered with evidence to only serve 1 year. As luck would have it, he should be put in a cell with someone he framed, and they're serving life. That would be justice.
Police and judges are on the same team, they protect one another. When cops and the justice system (courts) become corrupt, who protects us and our children from their criminal activities? We need serious reforms of both the police and courts...
@nojustno1216 Courts are the only place to get justice legally. You had an issue doesn't mean they don't work. Kinda like when you get a defective part or tool. Doesn't mean every part or tool is defective. Get it now short bus guy.
@@drexlspivey3047what a distraction from reality that crap was. You get a bad result because the perfect people got it wrong you never give up. You wouldn't say that so easy if it were you
To add insult to injury, he was released two weeks into his sentence to serve the rest of it under house arrest, due to budgetary/staffing issues at the jail.
Again I ask, does anyone believe that the system is not corrupt, as are those working within it.? What a real police state looks like, to the outside world. Protecting its own.We the people, cannot trust anyone in Government employment anymore.
One year? Those innocent people spent years in prison because of his actions and one year is nothing more than a slap on the wrist. He should the same amount of time they did. No wonder cops do these sort of things knowing that even if they get caught they’ll get off lightly.
What!?!?!?!? WHAT AN UNRIGHTEOUS SYSTEM THIS IS. THIS IS NOT JUSTICE BY ANY MEANS. The cop and the ones who refused to prosecute him should all serve the combined sentences of those men who were innocently locked up. Period.
1 year? At least 1 year for each, consecutively. And everyday for each sentence must be served. Then 10 years probation, he reports every week , and he pays for it all out of his pocket.
Any police officer, DA, or prosecutor who deliberately falsely or knowingly put innocent people in jail should also serve the exact same sentences as the people they put behind bars. The City, County, or police agency they worked for should be sued. And the money not comes out of insurance but from the budgets and pockets of the agencies & those responsible for putting innocent people behind bars.
Karma has no expiration date. It always finds its way back to you. Only 1 year though when he tried sending people to jail for life smfh that’s what he should be doing! Life !!!
@@judeduval5724 I seen my bullies die and lose loved ones. I literally prayed for these things. First one, an ex-girlfriend had a friend who voluntarily cat fished me pretending to be this hot girl from our school. I found out then she started restricted calling me all of summer 2010 in the middle of the night. Her dad died that August and i prayed for it. Another person who bullied, laced weed with crack, jumped and robbed me splattered off a motorcycle like 3 months after running from the police and killing somebody in a crash. I bought weed for months from 1 of 3 brothers in 2011, then his little 11 year old brother threatened to stab me and my friend for nothing and get his older brother on us, then a few months later his older brother robbed me and said he would shoot me if I followed him. Fast forward to 2017, their little brother gets shot dead in a robbery over a half pound of weed.
This needs to be a priority all over this nation to open all cases of complaints from young girls and women alike against these super preditors and stalkers on the police force, i am sure if they do the prisons wouldn't be able to contain the number.
He ripped large portions of precious time away from several people. They should, and I hope will, receive further vindication in the form of monetary compensation. The punishment does not fit the crime. The damage he did should merit a sentence of at least 20 years.
That's sentence is rediculous!! That man should have got 20 years to life for all the suffering he put those innocent men through and those men should sue the pants off of the city, county or state if need be. 1 year isn't justice in this case. It can only be corruption fueled injustice and an insult to law an order and a huge insult to those innocent men and their families. My prayers go out for those men and their families. May God bless and look after them and their families Amen. 😔🙏
This ex cop sent three innocent men to prison and all he gets is one year in prison where is the justice at they will protect their own. This is a sad situation and a black eyed to our justice system
Can you send that Justice Department to California please? There is some serious criminal activity taking place in that investigative and judicial system.
I saw this and thought, "Accountability?", and then I watched the video. He should have had to serve the same amount of time he stole from his victims. The system looks after its own, once again.
This dirty cop not only destroyed the lives of four men but also all of the lives effected by these for men taken unlawfully to jail. I think they said that between the four men they accumulated 62 years in total but yet this dirty / bully / tyrant / lying bag of shit only got one year for all of the damage he's done. We need to form a march on the capital building to promote our distain.
It appears to me that Handy pretty much got a slap on the wrist. Twelve months compared to ruining other's lives. Doing time in prison is no easy feat. However, his little twelve months will be a breeze compared to YEARS that his victims had to endure. He appeared to be a very arrogant and prideful person. He couldn't even offer any apologies?
This is a law that should be applied in all stated. Illinois has a reputation on sending innocent people to prison. And CPD will not send their former colleges to prison.
1 year ? Now, convince us that the law is not corrupt from top to bottom. Qualified and Judicial Immunity must be removed. Nobody should be safe from their corrupt actions, DAs and Judges included.
I had a cop try to frame me for a vandalism crime when I was just 13 years old. The case quickly fell apart in court, with the judge literally screaming at both the prosecutor and the cop. He threw out the charges stating they were absurd, told the cop to resign, stated he can't be trusted anywhere near children. The cop agreed he would resign, left the court with a newspaper over his head. We later found out he harassed and threatened a whole bunch of other teens, wrongly charging them as well for crimes they never committed. While I was happy he lost his job, it was really unnerving to see he was never held criminally liable for his actions. The public was so outraged over his antics they repeatedly vandalized his home and cars, he ended up leaving the area entirely soon after. But the cases we see in this video are far worse, look at the guy who was locked up for over a decade! Imagine losing a decade of your life for something you didnt do. And the cop in this situation also got a slap on the wrist, a lousy year in jail, despite intentionally destroying peoples lives. There needs to be stiffer penalties for officers who violate their oath to serve and protect the public. I was lucky the judge in my case was able to see through the ruse and protected me, but others aren't always so lucky.
Not only destroy the lives of these innocent men, but made a mockery of the judicial system. Encouraging other dirty cops to do the same. Now wonder cops lie in court the just get up and walk out when the get caught.
I can't tell what's worse, the criminal offenses or the deliberate justification of the criminal offenses by the obviously corrupt courts. The judge should be jailed for aiding and abetting with a lack of sentence like that.
