Former Met officer speaks about her experience of sexism and racism in the force

The murder of Sarah Everard by a serving Met police officer has plunged the force into crisis. And yesterday the home secretary announced an independent inquiry into systematic failures by the police. (Subscribe: bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe)
After that announcement, we spoke to one former officer, a British Asian woman, about her experience of sexism and racism at Scotland Yard.
During her 13 years with the Met, she experienced a traumatic deployment and was forced to retire on medical grounds.
She was put in touch with Detective Sergeant Stephen Redgewell as her union representative at the Police Federation.
But he began sending her messages which she found increasingly troubling.
The Met told us they cannot comment in detail as the claim is ongoing, but that they took allegations of this nature extremely seriously and insisted there was no place for such behaviour in the force.

Two of my mates where I work at in Leeds he joined the force and then couple of months later he left the force and joined back where I work due to the reasons that in the force there was racism within and that they would treat foreigners different compared to white national groups this young woman is 100% on point with her allegations

@@dominicclarke3206 she is being interviewed by an English woman too....... make you think doesn't it? i don't think that racism is that deep anymore, things have got better over the years but the rift between the classes in England is still pretty bad.... just my opinion.

Yeah I’ve heard that police in Africa and Asia treat foreigners differently than nationals... Racism is such a major problem

@@AnthonyD-yy2in I believe he's talking about the rich or middle upper class, not the whole group. He mentioned class not race. The rich always look down on others, always treating even poor white people as sub-humans, search up a documentary of Britain's young white population in poverty. It's heartbreaking to see.

It is not just he Metropolitan Police which is a problem. Each and every Police Federation branch is a criminal organisation cell. Police Federation pulls together the worst of currently serving, retired and even Special Constabulary. The police in the UK has become a significant danger to the public and to BAME staff. Several women police officers will protect abusers. When taken to court, Constabularies are often defended by County Council solicitors and they deploy surveillance on ppl suing them. To not reform the police means an awful lot of public money being spent to defend their criminality. Goes beyond #DefundThePolice. In the UK, there is huge influence of former military personnel and also freemasons.

It’s horrible that these organizations think it’s ok to spout racism and sexual harassment whenever they feel like it because it’s “funny” or “what men do” it’s not ok. My dad was a police officer for 30yrs and he always taught my sister and I to treat people how we want to be treated. Nobody should have to go to work and endure what this lady endured… I really hope the Investigation finds out who is responsible for brushing things under the carpet and brings them to justice. There needs to be some serious changes in the work place… it’s 2021… racism and sexism shouldn’t even exist!!

it is not that they are *all* racist.. just that racism and any other bad attitude or corruption is habitually ignored or covered up - cos the central ethos is to always cover each others backs and to never rock the boat..

Rotherham was a myth, there were no 1400 children that were abused, that would be every single child in the care system in Rotherham for a 10 year period. it was one gang, and a few crackhead whores, they were offered £5000 and a new home to make bogus statements, of you know crackheads, they would sell their own mother's for some money.

Of course she is full of it even though she has texts to prove it 🤷🏽‍♂️. The firearms officer who was awarded nearly a million pounds by a tribunal was also full of it 🙄.
