I can relate to his experience with St. Peter. This past January I reverted to Catholicism. And I one day, out of nowhere, I received this visceral, full body, sense of understanding and compassion for St. Peter, because I committed the same betrayal of Our Lord after I promised it was something I'd never do. I've learned to never say never. Thank you for sharing your story and welcome to the Faith!

That's understandable, Peter was in no way perfect. In fact, after Jesus promised him the keys of the kingdom and said upon this rock I shall build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it, Jesus turned around and called Peter...Satan. In the Greek text, the gates of hell are referring to the gates of Hades which is the land of departed spirits. Christ was not implying there would be no apostasy, because frankly, Paul and the others even said there would be, but he was saying death could not prevail against the kingdom, which is true because Christ overcame death on resurrection morning. In any event, John the Apostle was Peter's Apostolic successor, not Linus or the other bishops of Rome. That was just a made-up story several centuries after the fact. The Pope didn't even attend the council of Nicea, it was all conducted by Constantine.

@tony1685 Catholics are the ONLY Christians. All others are heretics, period. Holy Scriptures (NOT the chopped-downed Protest-ant version!) are much clearer than you apparently are aware of. YOU, sweetie, are a heretic. Pull your head out and STUDY.

I am Catholic from one of the first Christian lands to receive the Good News through the great Saint James the Apostles. So my family blood lines from both sides are Catholic for over2000 years and our Father in faith is Saint James. I never had any devotion to Saint Peter. I went to Rome 5 years ago, went to the tomb of saint Peter situated under the Basilica, when I came out from that dark, humid stuffy place into the sunlight I felt a true love and understanding of our dear father Saint Peter.

How do you square the Catholic stance on the validity of even non sacramental marriages and your previous marriage? Did you get the modern easy annulment? Did your previous "wife" not understand until death do us part? Contrary to popular belief the Catholic church takes non sacramental marriage seriously. The way we drop the ball on marriage hurts me deeply.

I’m so happy to hear that you are discerning the Catholic church at this time. I used to visit the episcopal church across the street from me when I was on my way to becoming Catholic. What I could never get out of my head was how the Episcopal church started, I mean the Anglican church. It was founded upon murder and adultery, was it not? I could just never shake its foundations from my conscious awareness, and it bothered me. I couldn’t find rest there. Anyway, Marshall Taylor was also an Anglican minister who became Catholic. You might find his podcasts very helpful on RU-vid. God bless you in your journey of faith.

Drew stated in his interview at some point that this man’s conversion was almost mystical rather than intellectual. Mine was like that. I was an anti-catholic Protestant, but one day I found my way to a Blessed Sacrament Chapel in my city where things were quiet and I could pray. I did not know that the tabernacle in front of me contained the Real Presence of Christ in the consecrated hosts. I was alone in the chapel after someone had let me in, and kneeling on a kneeler. The Holy Presence in that room was so palpable that I began to weep like a baby, got off the kneeler and knelt on the floor, just crying and crying. Nobody but nobody could convince me from that day until today that Christ was/is not really present with us in the Eucharist. Matter of fact, every time I set foot in a Catholic Church, I sense his holiness there. I never have had that same experience walking in to any other church building. I speak here of Protestant churches. Anyway, thank you for this video. I have many extended family who are LDS, and this gives me hope to keep praying for them. I hope nobody gets mad at me for saying that I find their theology of God quite disgusting. Especially when they claim that Jesus is somehow brothers with Satan. How in the world can this possibly be?

@@violette4841 for economic reasons sometimes yes, for easy immigration or to attend BYU not so much. Why if they are Catholic, would they want to become a Mormon to attend BYU when Catholics have Notre Dame and around 200 other colleges to choose from in the US? People join the Catholic church for economic reasons too. I wouldn't use the term "convert" on everyone who gets baptized and joins the church though, there are a lot who join for phony reasons and may become converted over time or may eventually reveal their true colors and stab the church in the back. I've noticed a lot of people who have "joined" lately are pro LGBTQ and really have no intention of accepting the churches standards as much as they think they can join to pervert the gospel.

I am a mormon who became Catholic last year and there was years that I could not feel right with the Mormon church going back to my 9th grade seminary I had my mother move me out because it just bothered me and I sat in the vice principal office the rest of the year. And then I became an Elder and babetised my youngest brother and you could see the look on my face in the pictures that day I felt horrible for doing that. And I never went to church for 50 years until both my parents passed and I about died of Covid but the great thing is I married a Catholic and 1 day I started going to Mass with my mother in Law and my wife and there was such a feeling you new you are there to worship Jesus and are Lady and even in the church you feel that at Mass. The Mormon church there was to many things that bothered me like baptize the dead you wake threw a Mormon church and the only thing that you see that you worshiping Jesus Christ is the name on the front of the church there is never a picture of Jesus or any just the name on the front of the church. This becoming a Catholic is the greatest thing I have ever done and I am 70 years old know. The most devastating thing about the Mormon church is the day my only child was married in the Mormon church and me and my wife could not attend her services and I new that day the Mormon church was so wrong. The Mormon church to me growing up it was like a local recreation place because all your friends were there and the Boy Scouts was a big deal but it is different know I think than when I grow up and I was raised in Salt Lake , Utah.

Show Low...Nutrioso, Eagar, Alpine...as an Arizona native of 70+ years, it is fun to make this connection with you. I live in Phoenix Metro and had many Mormon friends in high school. They set up LDS lessons for me. My mother, very loving and wise, insisted that they teach the lessons at home where she could be a part of them. Her gentle questions in those meetings gave me pause. Over the summer, I read a well-known book on the history of the LDS church, and I lost my interest/faith in the Mormon faith. College? I settled into agnosticism, just short of atheism. Basically...disinterested in God and faith. Forty years later, and in a surprising encounter, I met God...then Christ...then Christians. This many years later, I thank God for my Christian faith, a grateful Catholic. What a blessing to hear your faith journey!!! God bless you and your family today and in the years to come.

I am a Catholic in dialogue with an elder in the LDS Church from Bountiful Utah. My friend holds the Melchizedek priesthood in his church. I am a lay Catholic apologist in my free time online. My friend has spent his whole life as a Mormon, married in the temple, and had eight children. His ancestors were also Mormon. I have shared much information with him about the Catholic faith. We disagree profoundly on the facts of history and Scripture. Since I am not trying to “convert” him, I have much freedom to say what I believe and challenge his faith in a spirit of ecumenism. What I find is that he is powerless to answer me on the grounds of real Scripture and real history. So he is forced to rely on his “testimony” to respond to my challenges. At present he is engaged in a desperate attempt to “prove” the historicity of the Book of Mormon (a futile apologetic ultimately). I sense frustration behind the veneer of false confidence. Pray for his ultimate conversion despite my weakness as a mere Catholic man, husband, and father. 😊😊😊

I very much appreciated the comment about the "unwinding" that I am experiencing as I learn about the Catholic faith. As a recovering Mormon, after 64 years of indoctrination in the Mormon theology and culture, I find that is no easy task. I'm in RCIA currently and have found much that is wonderful and easy to embrace, but I would be dishonest if I didn't say that my past learning makes a few things challenging, transubstantiation being one of them. Fortunately, I no longer feel alone on this journey, and have good support to help me get through it.

@joshgardner5887 regarding the statement that "The place to be on Sunday...and receiving the eucharist"; is opposed to the Truth. No person has the power to transform the bread into the Holy Eucharist is a Catholic Priest. The authority Christ granted Peter by giving him the keys to Heaven and His Church are solid and everlasting. By virtue of laying on of hands using the authority by an ordained Bishop, ( the rank of the Apostles of old), can a man be ordained a priest. You cannot go to some school, get a degree in divinity and magically have the authority to command the bread and wine (not grape juice) to become the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Christ. What you receive in your meetings is not the Eucharist. Sorry, but it's only symbolic. "Unless you eat My Body and drink My Blood, you have no life in you" words of Christ to the multitudes. Many left Him, but He never called them back telling them not to take His words literally, that it was only symbolic. Your wafers and grape juice remain wafers and grape juice. Lifeless.

After my eyes were opened (about a year after returning to my Catholic faith) I was so angry at myself for shutting out everyone who loved me when I got married in the temple.

I no longer feel like I have a hole in my soul. 🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:13 🕊️ Former Mormon Bishop, Sean Noble, shares his journey towards becoming a Catholic, with a unique perspective. 08:47 📚 Bruce R. McConkey, an influential figure in the Mormon Church, regarded the Catholic Church as the "great and abominable church." 18:21 🌟 A transformative moment occurred when Sean visited the Vatican, stood before the tomb of Saint Peter, and felt a sudden spiritual calling to become Catholic. 21:03 💔 After experiencing personal struggles and attending Alcoholics Anonymous, Sean found spiritual grounding that prepared him for his Catholic conversion. 22:00 🙏 The centrality of the Eucharist in the Catholic Church compared to its role in the Mormon Church was a significant factor in Sean's conversion. 23:48 🎙️ Sean recommends the "Crash Course Catholicism" podcast by Caitlyn's West for those interested in Catholicism or wanting to learn more. 24:29 🙏 Sean Noble felt a spiritual awakening while visiting the tomb of Saint Peter, which had a profound impact on his faith journey. 27:01 🛐 Sean highlights the theological inconsistency between Mormonism and the New Testament, especially regarding the concept of apostasy, Jesus' divinity, and the nature of God. 30:40 🏛️ Sean mentions that there are Masonic influences within Mormon temple rituals, hinting at some of the parallels he observed between Catholic Mass and Mormon temple ceremonies. 35:00 🤔 Sean describes the integration of the spiritual and intellectual aspects of his faith, leading to increased confidence in his Catholic journey. 37:13 💔 Sean emphasizes the importance of understanding the Eucharist for a deeper comprehension of Jesus and the Christian faith. 43:06 ✝️ The discussion delves into the diminishing recognition of human dignity and the need for a unified moral vision in society, touching on the importance of faith in understanding human nature. 46:44 📜 The conversation explores the significance of returning to the vision of America's founding fathers, rooted in an understanding of the divine nature of human beings and fundamental principles of Catholic Social teaching. 47:53 🏛️ In the conversation, the importance of Catholic Social Teaching and its impact on Western Civilization is discussed. These principles are seen as deeply embedded in our consciousness. 48:22 🤔 The conversation explores how the Catholic faith played a significant role in the formation of Europe and the development of Western culture, even unconsciously influencing good ideas. 51:06 🇺🇸 The discussion touches on how, within certain religious communities like Mormonism and Evangelicalism, there can be a sense of religiosity around the United States, sometimes equating it with a new Israel. 54:05 ✈️ The conversation includes a discussion about the beauty of Catholicism's rich history and heritage, especially when visiting places like Europe, where the influence of Catholicism is evident. 57:57 🙏 The transition from Mormon spirituality to Catholic spirituality is explored, highlighting differences in prayer, symbolism, and a newfound freedom to discuss personal faults and sins. 01:03:13 ⛪️ The conversation touches on how Mormonism and Catholicism approach the concept of sin differently, with Catholicism emphasizing God's abundant and readily available mercy through the sacrament of confession. 01:12:28 🏛️ The celestial room is a central, serene space in Mormon temples where members seek comfort and answers to life's questions. 01:13:37 🤔 In Mormonism, members receive a new name, not chosen by them, during their temple experiences, similar to Catholic confirmation names. 01:19:17 ✝️ Mormons have a strong belief in their prophet's direct communication with God, similar to Catholic saints' visions. 01:24:44 🧐 To maintain faith in Mormonism, adherents often need to ignore historical and intellectual challenges, which contrasts with the Catholic approach to acknowledging and embracing facts. 01:26:04 🌟 Transitioning from Mormonism to Catholicism has brought a newfound richness, happiness, and certainty to the individual's life. 01:29:26 🎉 Anticipation of receiving multiple Catholic sacraments is exciting and feels like entering a candy store for spiritual growth. 01:34:11 🙏 Former Mormon Bishop became involved in political campaigns related to marriage initiatives, strengthening his positive feelings towards the Catholic Church due to alignment on key issues like marriage. 01:38:30 🤝 Sean Noble, a Conservative Republican, finds alignment with Catholic social teaching principles like subsidiarity, solidarity, human dignity, and the common good, which are universally agreeable across the political spectrum. 01:44:04 🌎 Addressing immigration, Sean emphasizes the need to reform the immigration process to balance compassion with security, acknowledging that both extremes, open borders and zero immigration, have made it difficult to reach a compromise. 01:50:29 🌈 Sean Noble encourages those who may be questioning or leaving the Mormon Church to be open to the pursuit of truth and the beauty of the journey ahead in finding their path.

Very interesting story of your journey to put the icing on the cake. Have you ever experienced the traditional Latin mass? I went from a Novus ordo Catholic to becoming a traditional Catholic and I found it extremely rewarding seeing that the Novus ordo unfortunately doesn’t have the same beauty and strength if I could put it simply that way, that’s the traditional Latin mass which has been around for more than 1500 years while the Novus ordo is only been around for the last 60 years. Just a thought I don’t wanna rock anybody’s boat but for me to tell him I find it extremely rewarding. God bless.
@TyroneBeiron
@TyroneBeiron Год назад
‘Traditionalist’ rhetoric is not helpful. There is no evidence for a Latin sacramentary or rite as we know as the Tridentine form being earlier than 300-400s, and more likely that local apostolic churches in union with the Roman Church had their Eucharistic liturgies in their vernacular which later were preserved in the various rites from the Greek, and this includes the Latin and later on the Gallican rite and so on. But the specifics of the Eucharistic liturgy has always been true to their respective apostolic origins. We have evidence of these sacramentaries and their feasts down to the present, among the Catholic rites, and also among the Orthodox, where there is no doubt about the historicity of their usage. This does not mean that the Latin Church never changed the expression of its liturgy or that the Eucharistic canons of one rite is historically ‘superior’: all authentic Eucharistic liturgy is firstly Christ’s own offering to the Father, not one or another of us doing what only He alone does. So to insinuate that the Latin Rite in the vernacular is any less substantial in any form is judging it from its external expression and elements. True, I agree that the Latin Rite in the traditional form is edifying, beautiful, rich, and draws one into the mystery of the Eucharist which the expression of the vernacular seems ‘pedestrian’ but I would not recommend to any Catholic to subscribe to a view of the Rite as an ideological preference, whereas as a preference of sorts is consistent with the Catholic view of the validity of all apostolic rites within its unity of faith maintained by the bishops in full communion with the bishop of Rome. 😊

@@TyroneBeiron if you’re referring to the Novus ordo, which I understand you are if it’s a translation from the traditional mass, it definitely isn’t and for the last 60 years they’ve been playing havoc with the mass the late Michael Davies explains it extremely well if you read his books, I still pray for the pope you still will get my prayers but the way the church is being run. Unfortunately it’s on the rocks almost we’ve had ours problems in the past, so nothing is new under the sun but it’s coming were we may have female priests that is in a nova Sordo, not in the traditional mass, but a Novus auto and what unfortunately, Pope Francis is stipulating is not Catholic dogma call the same. you take care I know my history I know there’s been from the very early time. The mass originally was in the Hebrew and Greek eventually Latin was the norm because of the whole Roman empire use Latin it’s language that became the norm. Anyhow God bless.

He talks about “knowing” this is true, so tell him to be aware of the dark night of dark night of the soul, where God will test that because we do need to walk in faith, even as Catholics. I had a spiritual supernatural conversion, and I KNEW. If it wasn’t for a very precious priest who could explain to me what was happening, the very night I was confirmed something happened to make me question what I KNEW, I would have left. Saint Teresa of Avila had a dark night of the soul experience, now twenty years later I am again experiencing His Holy Presence for six months, I’ve not felt since my induction into the Catholic Church.I never left and I know I have been more proud of being in Christ’s Holy Apostolic Church than anything for all those twenty years.
