An attorney for former Memphis police officer Emmitt Martin said his client was driven by anger the night Tyre Nichols was kicked, punched, and hit with a police baton during a traffic stop.
I think everyone gets that right sis. Once you are charged, the judge will always ask what do you plea...if you say not guilty, you go to trial & when you say guilty, u take a plea deal & skip trial
@@IssacAintPlayin if you reread my comment, i said i "think" which means im clearly not sure. You could have responded with correct response vs being smart
Corrupt Cop's are Cowards they play Tuff on the streets. Scared to face Prison if it's on Camera it should be No plea. Just charged automatically being a former Cop he's looking for W.... privilege !👮♂️😰
@@paulaevette7379 So what??? It wont add any time to the ridiculously light sentence he will be getting ..They also do that "both sentences to run concurrent" bs
@@jimlewis2395 I believe the judge is going to make an example of them...They will probably get the same amount of time.. If not more than Derrick Chauvin got for killing George Floyd
Don't worry he is definitely still going to get more than 2 or 3 years for the murder charges. Like the other poster stated this was for the civil rights case. Idk if he will die in jail, but he can kiss his 20s, 30s, and probably 40s, goodbye.
Prosecutors are recommending that he get 45 years for his federal charges. Federal sentencing guidelines state that he must do 85% of that time before he is released, which is close to 39 years. That's just the federal charges which were just civil rights violations. In state court he was charged with murder and kidnapping. He'll likely get what amounts to a life sentence for those charges. There's no way he'll be released in 2-3 years. If he doesn't die in prison, the earliest he'll be released is when he is close to 80 years old or older.
Why are these lazy prosecutors pleading these guys out? Trial is a lot of work. I get it. It’s exhausting, but these guys need to answer for what they did in court in front of a jury. A sentence not to exceed 40 years? I hope the judge gives him 40 years even.
This is just the federal court case. They still have the state murder and kidnapping charges to deal with. Plus, federal sentencing guidelines state that they must do 85% of the sentence before they get a chance to be paroled so that's at least 39 years. He'll likely be doing close to a life sentence. They took the pleas and promised to testify against the other officers and also to the violent culture of the Memphis police department. With their testimony they can use it to charge other officers, have corrupt people fired, and help to change the corruption throughout the police department. Prosecutors don't make deals unless they know they'll be getting something out of it for them. It's not laziness. To have police officers testify against other officers and break that blue line of silence is rare, so they take up the opportunity whenever they can get it.
@@busterhackler5383 BS Stop lying clown They found room for Sean Grayson. Locked him up immediately but ONLY because these monsters are black, they get to stay free for 2 years and then get really light sentences
At most, these monsters will do 5 years.....ONLY because black people refuse to get outraged over this one. Even though its about 1000 times worse than George Floyd
GOOD! He should’ve had a plea deal period. So sad and heartbreaking for that man that he killed. I’m so sorry for his Mother and other Family Members. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾😭😭😭😭😭
I hope the judge does not weigh much on this new guilty plea. These five stooges knew what they were doing. More importantly, they knew better than to do something like this awful act. There should be no sympathy for any of them.
Less than a year on a 45 year sentence? Come on now. First off, federal sentencing guidelines state the inmate must do 85% of their time before being eligible for parole, so that's at least 39 years. Plus, he still has the state murder and kidnapping charges to answer to. He'll likely get even more time for that. This guy isn't getting out until he's an old man, if ever. Don't make ridiculous assumptions like this if you don't know the law.
Some judge or some district attorney or someone in the police department's gonna feel very, very sorry for this guy that he came forward and accepted responsibility.Guarantee you nothing. It's gonna happen to this police officer, and he'll appeal to the police union and he'll have his job back mark my words
On the flip side you really can't blame these officers for getting tired of the same crap from the same people and on occasion, losing it. The problem of course is the officer should have recognized his anger and disgust was getting to the level where he shouldn't have been out on the streets, now it's going to cost him.
@@DistrustHumanz Except they were CAREER criminals doing their crap their entire lives,.. They might have made the choice NOT to be a career criminal, but hey, there might be some honest democraps too,
how do you get an option to plead guilty when your hd camera and your own body camera commiting a crime makes no sense at all. plea to what he is 1000 percent guilty

Those 5 cops looked like they were fresh off the plantatiom an soon they will expirence 20th century slavery the prison sistem probably gonna see some people they know reason to b skedddd
wait, this is the case involving the group of police officers - at the time - beating on the handcuff dude allegedly because he was dealing with the ex-girlfriend of one of the police officers, right? booyyyy had there not been footage...i hate to think.

No, he didn't. The aerial video was released and there was no sign of him doing that. That's already been disproved. That's why the report says the cops admitted to writing false police reports.
