It is safer to be prepared for any emergency.

When I was doing armed escort of ATM technicians, the rule was, "If it does not feel right, it is not right." We would abort a job just because one of the team was uncomfortable with the situation. If one of the dispatch operators questioned our decision or even asked "Why", they were counselled and sometimes fired as not suitable for the position. Eyes open, ears listening, head on a swivel, back to no-one, and remain alert.

Lack of situational awareness is definitely bad for your health..

I preach “Situational Awarness” constantly to my autistic, adhd diagnosed grandson I’m raising. The importance of it was pounded into us in the Army.

I did this with my boys 20 years ago. Taught them how to get out of the trunk of a car as well. Not perfect but I tried to give them SOMETHING to work with. I’m going to read this book.

That’s one thing I understand is what children learn first right,wrong,good,bad Truth and lies and consequences.

Being raised as a child by a WWII Veteran, THIS premise of "situational awareness" was taught and embedded in us. It has served our entire Family very well! Thanks Dad, and we have taught our children as well!!!

When I ws a child, my parent said that the adults that we could trust were called Aunt or Uncle

If someone see's you looking around from your car in a parking lot, they think you are maybe looking for a friend or someone waiting for you to shop with, so it is best to look around, They will get distracted if you do, and when you get out of the car, they'll thin 2 times before they attack you cause they don't know your intensions,, sorta like a counter safety attack, It;ll work,, make a habit of it;)

I know it does not sound good and sounds like I am a dower person but the most important thing you can do besides be aware of what is going on around you is go everywhere with the mindset that no place is 100% safe. I have seen bad things happen in the best neighborhoods. Just recently I was buying a used car with my sister. The car lot is in an area that is generally considered safe. A man pulled a gun on someone working at the car lot because he was upset over something. Had it not been for a big gentleman the would-be gunman did not see tackling the bad guy god knows what would have happened.

It's good that this guy is out there helping people to realize this stuff and how to keep themselves safe,but it's also sad in a way because this world is so messed up that he has to teach this in the first place..but bless him for getting out there and teaching people and sharing his experience and knowledge 😊👍

Absolutely, I’ve worked at HNL inside security long enough to see almost immediately when things are out of the norm. Heck many times I could look at someone walking to a gate and be able to tell what flight they are going to before they get there. Just saying there are routines that can be readily identified after days of an airports operation.

Carry an empty Gun Case on the dash where it is easy to see, Not a violation to have an empty gun case, This saved me from being Robed 2 times,. I was never questioned by the police in 2 years of doing this,, never ask what was I carrying, and only turned away from a school parking lot ONE time;) This is a sure fire way of making yourself safe with out getting in trouble,.And don't even tell this to your best friend that its empty.. My friends didnt know it,, But now I have a concealed permit so I can say well I have a concealed permit,,But with a real gun stay out of school [property it will land you in a place where criminals are rampant for sure ;)

What's sad in Texas is that people wait till you are well out of your vehicle before they approach. I believe it was yesterday a gentleman was already out of his car and pumping gas when a Hispanic man walked up and told him to give him all his cash. The man didn't have cash on him, just his credit card and the Hispanic beat him and put him in the hospital. Sadly looking around doesn't always work, but it is great advice.

Fortunately I live in a pro-gun state that doesn't bleed hearts for criminals.
