Former president Trump denounces President Biden's claim that he is responsible for inflation during the first televised presidential debate, Thursday, June 27, 2024.
What is Mr Biden looking down at? Did CNN let him have notes after all? On inflation and taxes I am not sure which of them, if either, to believe. Trump's delivery is demonstrably more coherent though. The debate has now finished and I think it was a much better night for Trump overall. By the way, why no RFK Jr invited?
@@user-gy3vg6ne7r Trump was certainly not looking down like that whereas Biden was doing it throughout the whole 90 minutes. We got it from CNN that no notes were allowed so we assumed that to be correct. I was wrong on that then, OK.
Wow. Didn't know about this. If a 10% tariff is imposed, this is going to cause inflation go significantly higher. This is absolutely crazy that anyone would consider a serious presidential candidate. He wants to play Russian roulette with the American economy.
Not when considering how the cheap imports have undercut American manufacturers. The line has to be drawn somewhere because foreign importers aren't abiding by fair trade agreements meant to allow the US to compete.
@@MrLeavemikealone An indiscriminate tariff is a tax. Trump isn't distinguishing between cheap imports and those that largely benefit the US. The result is that this is a tax, one that's going to slow the economy, raise prices, cause inflation to spike, and may also cause countries to retaliate. (This, btw, is simple economics. That is, it's a certainty that this is going to happen. Or, there is a clear cause and effect. Also, if this does happen, America is going to resemble countries such as Turkey and Argentina, which have political leaders who ignore basic economics and ruin the economy.)
@@posthocpriorAs an example of his last term;Trump put tariffs on imported steel from China that saved our steel industry. He also used the threat of tariffs to negotiate deals with Mexico and Canada. In that case, Trump forced their hand and no tariffs materialized. In the end; Mexico and Canada were happy campers. Where there was GROSS imbalance in trade; tariffs were applied that went to US farmers who would have been forced to quit or scale back farming. China has been buying up our farm land and even our biggest AG producers (Smithfield Pork was one HUGE example). I would trust Trump with my wallet any day. Most of his tariff talk is for negotiating deals to level the playing field. Most of this stuff is just leveraging deals where Congressional maggots in the swamp are selling us out to power hungry entities not in our best interest.
@@MrLeavemikealone You've made up your own facts. If that's what his policy is going to be, he would have said it. That's not what he said. Because, also, you didn't argue against the devastation that his actual proposed idea is going to have, I assume you'd prefer fantasy to reality.
