“I would say 75% of it was a sentiment of anti Māori and anti treaty from Pākehā” Former Race Relations Commissioner Susan Devoy on the most common complaints she received when she was in her role.
What a mistake putting such a poorly qualified person in this position . And as it turned out her staff were abusing each other , not being able to control her staff how could she be expected to serve the country
@@LD-eu9gd nothing official but usually its expected the role will be given to an ethnic person with a university education, Davoy was the only exception to this practice
This was a paid promo? Almost like watching a infomercial. What did she achieve in the role No doubt our greatest sports woman ever ! But cry about that job did she go in blind folded ? Who hell hired her with what skill set?
Thank you Moana for your work. You not only explore important issues from a te ao Māori perspective, but in doing so help some of us middle aged Pākehā understand te ao Māori a bit better. 😊
Interesting, however the majority of NZer's know there's no anti maori sentiment no matter what vids like this one would wish to purport. Susan mentions a balance of NZ history to be taught in the schools etc, that's on the coalition agenda thank goodness.
Wow. After watching this video. You claim there's no anti maori sentiment? 75% she said were anti maori/ anti treaty. My mind is boggled about how you came to this conclusion.
Spoken like a truly ignorant Aotearoa New Zealand citizen impoverished by a now thoroughly irrelevant worldview of the very real Anti-Māori, Anti-Tiriti, Anti-Facts-about-institutional-racism sentiments, actions and experiences lived out by Tāngata whenua on the daily. Do better.
All the race relation comissioners were hand picked for their wokeness and ease of being lead by the nose. Possibly the money was good as well but Maori claim they are not making progress so what has been the point??
Not sure what “lead by the nose” means but I think wokeness is a sensitivity to social injustice and discrimination which would be a quality for a race relations commission?
Race and ethnicity are social constructs that should be put in the dustbin of history. Race and ethnicity aren't scientific categories. It is about classifying and stereotyping people often for nefarious reasons. How can there be a "race relations commissioner" when biologically race doesn't exist? It is one of the horrid leftovers from the eugenics movement.
Because people and institutions have historically treated others differently based on these categories. If they didn't, there'd be no need for a race relations commissioner
If those things didn't affect the people of today then maybe we could throw it out. But turns out. Racial constructs were used to divide and conquer alot of the world. To fix it. We gotta face it head on first and acknowledge it. Then repair.
I'm really not sure in her role as Race relationship commissioner, she did much to improve things. She put Maori before others most of the time. Things, are what they now, because of stuff like that.
And this just shows that us maori have always known how racist the whole system is. It's sooo sad. All because some people aren't willing to learn anything.
@@Self-TaughtPhysicist are you being for real? 🤣🤣 the treaty for a start. Lawlessness in this country is always against maori. Systems of oppression include the prison system. Health system. Look at all the statistics in every colonized country. It's not that hard to see.
@@shnacksx3482 So because more Māori commit crimes and have more health issues means you’re oppressed? Can you please explain? Also how is the treaty racist? And what would have to be done to stop the “oppression” ?
