I just stumbled upon your channel and I'm so glad I found you. My most pressing question is on medical. I retired frim the State and quaified fir their medical insurance coverage which comes free with my retirement benefit. My husband, in the ither hand, has no State benefit. However, I am being charged extra for my health care coverage while my husband gets more coverage witjout additiona premium payment! Is my State benefit a disadvantage in this instance? What should I do?

I am new to disability and I’m 60 years old. I’m also new to your channel so far. I love it because I’m very ignorant about these benefits I work two and three jobs. , All my life can’t even afford a divorce and I’ve gotta get one so I can think about my 1st spouse once he turns 62. But can you please elaborate on part D penalty for Medicare? Be very specific like what are the fees I don’t get much at all on disability, and I did work hard all my life I had to have 2 to 3 jobs just to make it. Thank you very much….

@MyGovExpert

You can file for retirement and disability at 62 at the same time. However, for disability, you also have to be currently insured, which means you had to work and pay into Social Security five out of the last ten years.
@MsLilBit8344

Don't wait on filing for disability. On disability work credits expire. You definitely should apply for disability. Taking early retirement is reduced. Disability would not be reduced.

I worked for Buckingham Community Services for years and they hired a new payroll company that said they were taking our federal and state taxes out. BUT, THEY ACTUALLY EMBEZZELED (STOLE) OUR TAXES THAT THEY TOOK OUT AND POCKETED IT SO, IT WAS NEVER REPORTEd to social security. Nothing I can do now at age 71 years young. I wish I could do something, but who knows if this payroll company was ever prosecuted for stealing our money that they should have reported that they took from us employees. We never saw that money.

He had retired FRA back in the 1990’s. He was much older than me. If I were entitled to his retirement benefits going back to 2009 when I then became disabled, why did I NOT get his social security benefits? Does social security owe me back pay?

Thank You for all the information you provide!! Question... If I were to claim benefits on my record at 62, would I be able to switch to survivor benefits from deceased husband benefits at full retirement age? would his continue to grow after I have applied on my account? I have called the social security office with this question 4 times and received 4 different answers. It is a confusing system. I'm not mad about it, just confused... :)
@MyGovExpert
@MyGovExpert 4 месяца назад
On both of those types of claims, your benefits increase until you reach your full retirement age. So, I would definitely check both. And see which one you want to file on first and let the other one increase.

Yes. When you turn 65 you have to take Medicare because you're Affordable Care Act plan subsidies and cost sharing will end.

@MsLilBit8344
@MsLilBit8344 4 месяца назад
@@debrameadows6289 Idk who told you that but thats incorrect. SSI doesn't count one vehicle and one home. A second vehicle or a secondary home would be counted. One of four things. They are either counting someone else's income in your home, or they are reducing your check saying you aren't paying your fair share (like if someone pays for your food which that law has changed or will be changing) or they are reducing it for an overpayment. Or if you have another source of income they would reduce SSI. You should call SSA and get answers. If it was SSA that told you that please keep in mind it takes two years for those agents to learn their job thoroughly and they are having an extremely difficult time keeping people. One other possibility they could have some confusion over the mortgage being paid and someone documented somewhere you was getting assistance with housing and again the agent didn't understand what was wrong. I've had agents in the past give plenty of inaccurate information. You can do a Google search. Owning or buying a house doesn't count against you unless it's a vacation or rental (in which case you'd be disqualified from SSI) Twenty years ago I had an agent tell me if I work failed i'd be homeless. Which was completely inaccurate I was on section 8 and dual benefits (SSI and SSDI) Please reach out to SS and see why your payment is being reduced and what you need to do to have it reinstated. No one should be forced to live like that. If you own your own house can you rent out a room to help you cover taxes, insurance and utilities? It could be helpful. Good luck. I hope your situation gets better.

New Sub Here, enjoying what I'm seeing. Excellent show! I will be checking out more of your video's. Thank you for what you do here on your channel. I found you while researching SSI options. I'm at a crossroads and would like to go back to part time self employment. Is the ticket to work program the way to go? I do still have medically disabling factors, but I'm tired of sitting around and not being a contributing human on this planet. I feel I could at least put in a few hours a day and be okay health wise. I mean I won't know until I try, correct? I just can't lose my medical benefits. Among other things, I am a two heart attack survivor and will be on medication for the rest of my life. Again, thank you for what you do here and your time. Oh and yes to the male pattern baldness cure!🤣

That is correct, you aren't required to file when receiving SSI. If you have any possible deductibles, I would file, though. Also, if you pay rent and are Disabled or 65 and older and receive State benefits, and you don't already take advantage of Rent rebates, you can file that too.
