Well, I feel investors should be focusing on under-the-radar stocks, and considering the current rollercoaster nature of the stock market, Because 35% of my $270k portfolio comprises plummeting stocks that were once revered and I don't know where to go here out of devastation.

The safest approach I feel to tackle it is to diversify investments. By spreading investments across different asset classes, like bonds, real estate, and international stocks, they can reduce the impact of a market meltdown.

Jon McNeill is also a board member of General Motors so he's talking his book. CNBC should have disclosed that. Of course he's going to say that "competition is coming". But when you look at the actual BEV numbers from GM, it pales in comparisons to any other car that Tesla sells. Tesla's core business is far from weak. The macroeconomic situation is globally bad for all automakers in Q1. GM was down -16% QoQ. Tesla was down -20% QoQ as a result of supply chain issues, transportation issues, and forced factory shutdowns. Even if you looked at those as excuses, Tesla did not perform significantly different from GM in Q1. It's also laughable that he says there's 2 driverless cars out there. No sir there's only Waymo. Cruise has yet to resume robotaxi services after they hit a pedestrian and dragged them down the road in SF.

But competition IS coming. Porsche Taycan is objectively a more beautiful desirable object than the dated looking S. There are many low cost EV models coming to market from other manufacturers. Tesla is the clear leader in software but their hardware/design/build quality isn't clearly better.
@thesadboxman
@thesadboxman 4 месяца назад
@@2011hwalker 😂 Porsche has been "coming" for Tesla for years. Still hasn't happened yet and will never happen. Even if Porsche gains more success, it doesn't take away from Tesla. It should be obvious that the auto industry is not a winner take all market. Saying something is objectively beautiful is just ridiculous. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Where are these low cost EVs today? Those have also supposedly been coming for years. Even if they do come, it's unlikely that that company can remain profitable selling at the lower cost. Nobody besides Tesla and BYD have made profit per car. And BYD barely makes a profit at all. You can argue design, but there's a reason why Chinese autos keep copying how Tesla builds hardware and manufactures its products. The Chinese only like copying the leader in an industry. Lastly, the Model Y was the best selling vehicle (ICE/EV) in the world last year. I don't know what better standard there is for determining better software/hardware/design/build.

It will work at least 95% of the miles driven. Some FSD users don't have to intervene 99% of miles driven. It does not have any of the Mercedes L3 restrictions listed above. Whatever the MSRP on the Equinox is, just assume the dealers will NOT reduce the price based on the tax credit. They will mark the price up by that amount so, at best, the buyer will pay MSRP. And don’t think GM is gonna flood the market with these things. Each dealer will have one or less on hand at any given time, which will allow them to add their ‘market adjusted’ price increase. Maybe they will just have an auction every month or so for the one EV they will get. They don’t want to sell EVs at all. GM doesn’t want to make EVs in any great quantity.

When they finally wake-up, Tesla and many Chinese companies will be lightyears ahead and they'll have missed their window of opportunity. Battery and charging tech will have left them for dust. They won't have a clue how to monetise a fully interactive, connected and automated cabin without owning any of the patents or data. Hybrids, including plug-in ones, have another big issue: the smaller the battery is, the faster it will cycle (go through all energy in it), and thus the faster it will need replacement. CNBC while you're trying to be "nice" to GM, don't realise they are in the age of the internet, and while they are trying to pull wool over peoples eyes, due to conflicts of interest, do not realise that they are slowly killing themselves and their credibility. RIP decent journalism.

My Model 3 has been driving me around for hundreds of miles the last few weeks, both city and highway. Zero interventions. Folks, Tesla has solved autonomy. And it’s a scalable solution. The cake is baked. Some icing is needed for sure but I’m completely convinced. This is much much bigger than flip phone to smart phone. You really have to experience it to understand.

FSD is still level 2 supervised. Wake me up when it's full autonomy and level 5. Until then I'm not interested in being an unpaid supervisor. Full autonomy is the car driving from LA to New York with me sitting in the back seat as promised by Elon.
@alexedens1
@alexedens1 4 месяца назад
@@sunrisejak2709 So you wouldn’t use a supervised system that’s 5x - 10x more safe than you? Tesla isn’t there yet but that will assuredly come first. Avoiding any level of safer supervised system seems like an odd choice.

@@alexedens1When I drive my car (Tesla model 3) I very often go to various locations or just go for an "afternoon drive" with various spots of interest along the way. With FSD you need to set a destination so the FSD knows where it's supposed to drive. I virtually never drive with a set destination in mind unless it's a trip. I also might choose different routes to pass by a shop that may or may not be open or a restaurant that may or may not be full, or just a scenic drive on my way to the mall. In any case I never select a location from A to B and just use my car as a transportation tool. I love driving my model 3 and just go where I like to go at that moment in time without constantly setting a specific destination. I've had no accidents in the last 25 years so I suppose I'm a safe enough driver. 😁
@sunrisejak2709
@sunrisejak2709 4 месяца назад
@@alexedens1I haven't had an accident in 25 years so I guess the "safer than me" is a moot point. In order to use FSD you need to set a destination so the car knows where to go. This is not how I drive my Tesla model 3. I might elect to drive by a restaurant to see if it's crowded or a shop to see if it's open, or maybe take a different route to the mall to check something out along the way. It's only on a trip I might set a destination. Setting a destination everytime I go somewhere removes the freedom of driving a car which I love doing.
@alexedens1
@alexedens1 4 месяца назад
@@sunrisejak2709 I understand the freedom aspect if you’re just randomly exploring. But your first point is not logical. Just because something hasn’t happened doesn’t mean it can’t. I haven’t had cancer in 60 years. Does that mean I’m immune? Perhaps I should pick up smoking? Since the car has eight cameras and can react faster than you a supervised system will no doubt be statistically safer than you. Ignore at your own peril.
