This is the final round of the 2001 Formula Rally Championship (the final round ever of Formula Rally), the Prodrive Banbury Rally
Formula Rally was an championship for`Super 1600 Rally Cars, with rally running over one day. The Championship included works cars from Ford (Puma), Peugeot (106), Volkswagen (Polo) and Proton (Satria). The Championship ran for one season, and was the de facto British Rally Championship in 2001 following the cancellation of the British Championship due to an foot and mouth outbreak

sidenote: a few weeks after this rally, both Peugeot and Proton were excluded from the championship, giving Rowe the drivers' title.

@@ddt3619 The 106 and Proton were older cars, so I suspect it might've had something to do with differences between the new Super 1600 and the old Kit Car specs. Sounds weird that they wouldn't find out this kind of thing before the season ended, but I guess keeping the championship competitive was in everyone's interests in that year.

@@retardray5701 Having looked it up - apparently Peugeot were allowed to run the 106 on the condition that they used the 206 S1600 before the end of the season; which they did, just not with Justin Dale. The Protons were thrown out for a similar reason. Seems a bit ridiculous really.

From memory the 106 was only supposed to be used part of the year & then the new homologated 206 would take over. Delays with the 206 meant it didn't get finished in time.
