Also for those who has #value error in Days function (it's because your system date format doesn't match the given one). Select all dates (h2:h10) -> go to Data tab -> choose Text to Columns from there -> Delimited, Next->, Next ->, step 3 of 3: column date format and chose DMY -> finish
It's amazing how Alex simplifies complex concepts and makes them look super easy compared to some other RU-vid videos on the same. You're doing a great job helping people out there, Alex.

Hello! I definitely agree, Alex's videos have been super helpful and make everything seem simple & not as intimidating! Can I ask what the structure you have been following in the bootcamp? I've began with Excel but am not sure what to go with next (Sql vs. R). Any additional tips would be welcomed as well! Thanks.
Thanks Alex for the useful content. Also, in a non-weird way, you have a great voice for narrating/hosting/moderating/teaching. You have the kind of voice that companies would pay to use in their advertisements and products!
a couple months ago , I began to learn power bi and then my friends recommended me your excel videos as well .I am really happy to meet you here .You are explaining everything in an easy and good way .Thanks a lot, I will continue to watch your videos
@@AlexTheAnalyst Thank you !Really Appreciate your content! I really want you to Add a Practicing Projects in the description box with every tutorial please i want projects based on every tutorial of you not just any projects
So far I am doing a simple basic book called SQL In Easy Steps for overall general SQL understanding. Before tailoring SQL specifically for Data Analysis. I really like the book and it's simplistic manner.
Note that the IFS function is available in Excel 2019 and later versions. If you're using an older version of Excel, you can achieve a similar result using nested IF functions: =IF(F2:F10 = "Salesman", "Sales", IF(F2:F10 = "HR", "Fire Immediately", ""))
I was just starting to learn my data analysis and i found your channel. Your channel is a Gold mine for the biggners. Thank you for creating such quality and informative videos.❤
Hi Alex, using the function concatenate we created email IDs. But, before that, we may need to make all the letters small as email IDs can not have capital letters. We can also include another function here for the same, ig. Thank You!!
So much value, Alex. Thanks a lot. I've worked with Excel for some analysis and I confirm that the mentioned functions are pretty well required during the cleaning and analysis processes. Thanks!
Smooth explanation great work dear Alex 1- What are the most important formula I need to master to land my 1st job as data analysis. 2- Are there any chat websites where data analyst can chat and exchange knowledges
SIR, using days and networkdays im not getting some values bcz i think some of those like "8/30/2017" in wrong format!, how to fix this? can someone help?
I like yours videos so much ... Always a bucket of knowledge (hopefully this Can be understood means they are great) , but : you criticized excel as a non agile software just after which might be but only depending on how it's team used... (And to me, criticize excel might be with a lot of suffer pain issue reason 😂). I'm fond of it... Please continue xlsx tutorials... Anyway,, on 1 word or in 1000... You're great and Always interesting. Keep posting videos to help other than you learn (please be kind with excel...)
so at 20:30 to apply the same formula for all the cells, press and pull the small dark box for the applied formula cell till the extent where you want to apply the same function
I don't know when it started but as of 'today' the CONCATENATE function is already deprecated, and MS suggest using CONCAT (visual representation uses an orange triangle with the exclamation mark inside soon after when you start writing the function name.
Thanks and great video Alex. I'm still new to the Excel and I tried to follow exactly like in the video but when I type in the formula 'IF', the result only appear on 1 cell and not like how Alex did at 5:44 where they magically appear for the rest of the column. What I did to get the same result was by dragging down the only cell with the formula. Can anyone tell me how he did it ? and thank you so much :)
Select the cell with formula and then Ctrl+Shift+End (selecting cells up to the right lower intersection of used rows/columns), after that press Ctrl+D (duplicates the cell content, in our case formula, down the column - selected cells)
Thank you very much for the tutorial, it was very helpful, I must say. But I want to pls say that under the IFS column, =IFS, does not exist in mine. How do I work without that?
Hi Alex! thank you so much for these video tutorials. I have learned a lot and the way you explained it so much clear and superb that anyone can simply understand it. Also, may I know what version of Microsoft Excel your using in this turorial? Thanks a lot .
Thanks you Alex for making this lesson as easy as possible. my Excel fails to run the "Days, NetworkDays and Day formular. i keep get #Value what could be the problem here?
for anyone wondering, to change the #N/A @8:10 add an IFERROR formula to change that to blank or whatever you choose. i'm practicing on my first set of data and was stressing on that for an hour. Luckily, i googled it and it took me less that 5 minutes to fix. LOL!
In addition, you can also use IFNA to catch only #N/A errors. My function for that section is: =IFNA(IFS(F2:F10="Salesman","Sales",F2:F10="HR","Fire Immediately",F2:F10="Regional Manager","Give Christmas Bonus"),"")
Hi Alex. Thanks for making this video. Can you kindly tell me how did you apply the formula for the entire column? In the video I didn't see you using the fill handle to copy the formula to the entire column.
Thank you Alex for sharing. please how do you separate surnames from first names that are joined together eg Alex Smith and you want to separate them into separate rows?
So good, thanks a million. One question for the community though: When I convert date to text via TEXT(...), I still get the error "#VALUE!". -Any ideas? :/
Excellent tutorials! But I faced a formula error in "DAYS" sheet for a few rows. I checked the format and dates, they look fine. Changed the dates and it worked. Anyone faced similar issue?
hello, Alex thanks for the great work you are doing, we really appreciate you and this has been a great blessing to me. some of the work sheets i download from the tuturials, are difficult to work with sometimes, sometimes some of the excel function doesnt work fully, how can I have this rectified. some of the functions you use does not really work with my excel. i use a 2020 MAc book pro and then microsoft 365, is there any help i can get?
I'm working on the first IF formula. I'm entering the formula precisely as Alex, but it only calculates for the first row (Jim). Can anyone explain why this is, and how I can make it calculate for all rows?
Hi Alex, when trying to find the number of days between dates using "DAYS" function, for some of the values I am getting this error "#VALUE!". But for other dates it works fine. Any clue what could be the reason?
