I'm guessing this is the one you were talking about as it is the most recent to publish. I don't get to spend much time in the NE part of the park, by the time we get there it is time to come home. Sure is pretty country up there! We had park training yesterday, the rangers were telling us things they want to know about including antler caches, I thought of you and chuckled...
Awesome video of such a beautiful place. Fairies Falls, huh. I’ve definitely given that place quite a bit of thought myself. You giving up on it and looking somewhere else now?
Minotaur Moreno - I’m honestly unsure. I spent so much time with 3 friends searching this entire area. And others have too. It’s a great spot, but the treasure may just be the scenery! I really like the idea of IceBox canyon to the northeast, and Slough Creek to the northwest.
Beautiful country you found Allen! Are you a dryfly fisherman yet? Well you probably will become one eventually. You have obviously read "River Bathing is Best"! Try to think about actually being there at Ojo Caliente Spring in 1942. It was much less crowded then. There was no Grand Loop Highway, and cars rarely went over 30 mph on those dirt roads. I believe Forrest rode his bike half that distance, about 12 miles, on what is now called "The Old Fountain Pack Trail" to his secret bathing spot. I hope you Google that Trail. And look on Reddit for "Fenn's old bike route". That should get you started. Don't want to give it all away here. That's why I wanted to e-mail you, to add to your database. I hope you post your whole PowerPoint deck here eventually. It's the best research I've seen in one place.
Tony Rusi - thanks Tony! I’m just starting to learn fly fishing-I’ve been a spinning rod & reel bass fisherman most of my life. I’ll check out that trail and I’ll get the PowerPoint (with links) shared online this weekend 😎👍
Dal Neitzel has a 20 minute Vimeo video embedded in 'River Bathing is Best!" I think that seminal story is still up on Fenn's blog. It was originally a newspaper story that preceded TTOTC. Then he put it in TFTW. When I watch your video here, I feel that same sense of "inner peace" that I get when I watch Dal's video. I always wanted Dal to narrate his video. He wasn't much interested in that! He let's Yellowstone speak for itself. There are things more valuable than treasure. One of F's scrap books had a link to this story: "A River Runs Through My Family" by Taylor Farrell Eagle, Kendra Eagle Owen, and Kim A. Eagle, M.D. Apparently, flyfishing releaves stresses associated with heart disease! Heck! Anyone who's ever gone fishing knows that!
Allen, have you seen "It's a Mad, Mad World"? Communists love it! It's such a scathing critique of Capitalism! I used to watch it with my parents when I was a kid. We laughed so much! I lost my Dad several years ago, and my mom in September. She was an angel. Love is the only real treasure in life. The only real escape from evil. Love one another. I hope I run into you dry flyfishing sometime along the Firehole Allen! Love: a River runs through it.
Allen some time ago, you asked a question and i intentualy answered halve correct to see if you would ever follow up. Well here i am 3 months later and will just tell the world , done it tired and and weak, .. The Answer ' walking the stairs to his death, the butter cup would never get to see F ever climbing to rest, from there its easier to go with the flow, water high lightens the load to carry.
