FORScan Mustang Audio EQ fix - Disable Factory EQ for Full Sound Range

Even after upgrading most of the front speakers with Infinity Reference speakers, I was still a little under impressed. While they sounded better than factory by far, there was almost no bass, and not a lot of mids either. Plenty of crisp clear highs though. I was using the FORScan software to make some other changes and came across some people that disabled the factory EQ limitations to protect the cheap factory speakers and that made all the difference in the world. That one simple change and I'm extremely happy with the sound system now. Still need a subwoofer to round it all out, but it is night and day better now. Check it out for more details.

Thanks for your help. Difference is night and day. However, it still looks like I will eventually need an under seat sub and an amp. Its better, its amazing how much more bass is present. I had changed to Hertz speakers a few years ago. If I listened a lot to contemporary recordings I might have just been happy, but listen to a variety of music a lot of jazz from 40s-70s. When the car is off you really can appreciate the difference. When. You start driving you realize maybe a better amp would maximize what you have. Also the rear speakers are absolute garbage. I will definitely change those some time soon. Along with the center.
@RaymondLamb

I agree with you 100%. I still need to do the rear speakers too, and definitely needs a sub. But the difference was night and day better than where it was. Glad it worked for you!

@@RaymondLambHi. I heard in the forscan forms that this has screwed a few people up. Making the radio pop and shut on and off without being able to fix. Not sure if someone just put the wrong numbers or whatever. Have you guys heard of anything unusual? Because I was gonna try this to my 2017 F150 after installing four new speakers myself. Do you guys have any information I would appreciate it. Thanks man

Hey Joe, I personally haven't experienced any issues. It may come down to the wrong value being used, like you said. There is a way with the software to backup the asbuilt data before you do anything and then you could restore it if something went wrong and it "should" set it back to original. I haven't done it myself, so not much help there. I'd research the backup option and make sure you are good there before doing anything. There is also a way to download the asbuilt file from Ford too if you search for it and use the VIN number. I'd just try to make sure you have the correct value for your specific setup. Good luck with it!!

As of now, i have the 9 speaker system and im just changing the lower door and rear seat speakers. You think the upper door and tweeters would blow with this setting? I dont mind the mids and highs but the lows are terrible so i focused my speaker selection on that for now. Im probably gunna disconnect the center speaker also. Also since this is disabling the 'EQ' does that mean the infotainment EQ adjustments dont work anymore?
@RaymondLamb
@RaymondLamb 3 года назад
Hey Mike, the upper door speakers, tweeter and center channel are cheeeeeeeap! The lower door speakers are the best quality speaker that comes in the car, at least in my car. I don't know how much the stock speakers can handle, you can always try it and if they blow, it'll give you a good reason to replace, lol. If you change the setting I talked about in the video, you still get your low, mid, & high slider EQ settings on the head unit like normal. It just doesn't restrict the full range to the speakers any more and sounds way better. Let me know how the rear seat speaker replacement goes, that's next on my list too. I've just done everything in the front so far. You're right, lows are terrible, but changing this setting did manage to help, now my mirrors actually vibrate some, verses my ears bleeding from all the highs! You can check out my other video and see the difference in quality of those door speakers here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9LeXuZJb9ho.html Consider subscribing if you feel like it, take it easy.

You can send the people at FORScan a file and they can pick out the number you need and send it back to you. I was able to do this with mine as it was tuned also. You can also remove the tune, connect with FORScan and then add the tune back. FORScan will save the connection info and you can pick it from the list the next time, and not have to remove the tune each time. I've done it several times now with no issues. Hope you got the results you were after.

@@RaymondLamb yep. Got it done. Only side effect was it lowered the seatbelt alert tone. Which I actually like. 😂 lol

Would this be the same thing for a 2019 Ford F-150?
@RaymondLamb
@RaymondLamb Год назад
I imagine it would be. They all share the same software and hardware for the most part. You would probably have to find the specific code/number to change on yours though, as that probably is different. I'd look through some F-150 forums for the info, I bet you could find it. Good luck.

Hello, is there any way to disable the rear speakers using fordscan? I need to disable them because they are making a very loud interference sound and I cant fix it, I already tried everything, from disconect the fake sound to disconnecting all the cables of the roof but didnt work, I need to fix this asap. My car is a GT350 and im from Spain, in my area there's no ford dealership and this car is very expensive and rare here, so I cant left it in some random workshop, I mean, this car is 150k+ euro here, its like a Lamborghini Huracán.

Sorry, I'm not certain you can turn them off completely with Forscan. I've only seen where you can make certain changes, but not disable completely. Not saying you can't do it, just that I haven't seen that as an option. Have you tried just unhooking the wires from inside the truck underneath the speaker? Still get the same problem? Good luck with it, hope you sort it out.

Do you know the code for the bass roll off?
@RaymondLamb
@RaymondLamb 7 месяцев назад
Sorry, I don't know if there is one just for that, or if it's all rolled into one setting. I wish I could help, I found most of my code info from digging through Mustang Forums, you might find something there. Good Luck with it!

Will this work on a 2015? Any idea how to disable the center channel with forscan?
@RaymondLamb
@RaymondLamb 2 года назад
I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work on a 2015, but the number you need to change is probably different. You might need to do some research to find the exact one you need to swap. The center channel I'm not sure if you can do, me personally I haven't seen anything about that one. Good luck with it!

That sucks, maybe there is a different code for the "upgraded" system.

@@RaymondLamb B&O is a better quality speaker so it doesn’t limit the eq at all. It’s soo bad though, thankfully I bought my car used and it just had that option. I didn’t pay that extra building the car to get the shit speakers haha.

can i just take my car to the dealer and have this done? 16 gt premium pp manual with shaker system no sub
@RaymondLamb
@RaymondLamb 2 года назад
Not sure just any dealer would do it, maybe if you had a friend that worked there or knew someone. I’m sure some would claim it might void part of a warranty since it’s changing what came stock from the factory, but you could always ask, couldn’t hurt.

@@RaymondLamb yeah I figured it will be more trouble than it's worth so I just ordered the adapter. Familiar with most brands diagnostic tools but do know most can't do much with fords so curious to see what a laptop and the software can do.

BTW after you did the mod did you try the lower door speakers you bought ? Might be better now?
@RaymondLamb
@RaymondLamb 2 года назад
That’s a good question and no I didn’t even think about it. When I first tried them I didn’t get hardly any mids or bass out of them at all so changed it back. I’m wondering now if this might’ve helped at all.

Great video. Do you think this will fix this known issue for F150? See below NHTSA ID 10168813 MFR Communication # SSM-48346 SSM 48346 - 2020 F-150 - Bang and Olufsen Audio - Speaker Volume Too Low - Built On Or Before 14-Oct-2019 at Dearborn Truck Plant Some 2020 F-150 vehicle equipped with Bang and Olufsen audio system built on or before 14-Oct2019 at Dearborn Truck Plant may exhibit speaker volume that is too low and will not increase. This may be due to incorrect configuration of the audio digital signal processing (DSP) module. To correct the condition, reconfigure the DSP module with As- Built data using the appropriate version of the Ford diagnostic scan tool. For claiming, use causal part 18B849 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

I bet it could. Sounds like the exact thing that I am adjusting with FORScan. You would just have to figure out the correct numbers to change it to.
@cjitty
@cjitty 2 года назад
@@RaymondLamb I think I just have to change it from EQ default with protection to the Crew Cab setting in the DSP menu of Forscan 783-02-01 x*xx (what number does this say for you?) Vehicle EQ Selection: 0=Unconfigured (default EQ with protection filtering), 1=P552 Super Cab, 2=P552 Crew Cab, 3=CD539N-Edge, 4-7=reserved
