Here's a look at the Fort Myers Beach shrimp boat fleet 3 month after Hurricane Ian. Not much has happened in weeks that we can see. Not sure if the cranes they brought in are big enough or can reach the boats safely.
Keeping these hard working folks in my prayers. It's heart wrenching. They need help so desperately so they can get these workboats back in shape and get back to work. It's not like they want to repair a luxury yacht! It's they're livelihood.
I suspect the crane operators make more money lifting out the recreational boats right now. Probably lots more insurance money in that work. The fiberglass recreational boats are lighter and easier to lift, so they can finish more jobs in the same amount of time.

These shrimp boats sit directly on my property at Gulf Cove. We have had all our homes and possessions demolished and put in a trash gon, as we took responsibility for our property’s. The shrimp boat industry seems to turn a blind eye to the pain the little guy has suffered. They are subsidized by the government. Under Maritime laws they are responsible to have their fleet under control at all times. As for me and my friends, we get $0. It seems they are waiting for the big government bail out just to solve the problem they have created?
It was hurricane ian not the shrimpers that created the problem. The rest must be governmental red tape and or insurance or lack thereof. Those cranes cost money.
If all the people would stop bringing car loads of rubber neckers to the beach, that would help speed up the cleanup process, too. Stop taking videos and pics of our damaged lives for your personal enjoyment. Driving 1/4 the speed limit down our beach roads really blocks up traffic. There's enough video on TV so you don't need to be down here in the way, exploiting our losses.
