Whoever the unknown person is who shot this film, they deserve our gratitude for such a perfect time capsule. And the quality of the video is excellent. Great snapshot of a place and time.

Well done. Nice to see so many old buildings preserved. Ft Wayne deserves kudos for keeping them well maintained.

This video is awesome!!! Thank you for giving us a glimpse of what life was like in 1938. My Mom was 17 in 1938 and attended Central High School.

That's funny about the sound. My family is from Fort Wayne. I asked my mother, when I was a child, what was it like before you could see in color.

Yes. And weight-appropriate men and women dressed so nicely, instead of fatsos in jeans and flip-flops.

Yes, a person who prefers walking is seen as eccentric now. Sad world.

Amazing they tore down so many of those old buildings in the 70s and replaced them with some of the ugliest buildings ever conceived, along with acres of parking lots.

Cool Video you found JR. Except you should of found the restaurant that you hung out at when you where 8 years old. Its also cool to see all of the Gangsta Cars roaming the streets of the Fort back in the day. I can Imagine my Grandpa and his Brothers Running shine from the old Farm up to the Lakes.

John: this is great footage. I saw your comment that it is public domain. Can it be located online or did you acquire a print? ? Thank you.
@johnrenz75

It is a copy ... the original internet site stating it was public domain is unknown. I do remember the clips were short segments that I arranged into one film. Feel free to utilize this film...I do not own it or receive any funds for posting it.

No. It was torn down to build Parkview Field. My grandma worked at Greyhound from 1940 - 1957. She was the head cashier in the cafeteria.

10:25 you're telling me there were PALM TREES??! Has the climate really changed that much?
@dylanreasoner3956
@dylanreasoner3956 2 года назад
I think they would only have them out during the summer I’m assuming .. palm trees need a constant 60° or up to stay alive so I’m assuming they died off in the winter ! Would be cool to have palm trees in Fort Wayne though !
