my advice for defense tactics: 1. Make the bunkers as little as possible, the placement of the bunkers must be kept away from the anti tank barrier / dragon teeth in order to avoid direct fire from enemy tanks. 2. Place small artillery (mortar, gun) horizontally with the bunker but still protected (in the forest, sandbags etc.), as much as possible use the Counter barrage. Place the large artillery in the back of the bunker. 3. If you play 2vs2, you have to set a role with your friends, this is to save the population and make it more focused. for example: You use the anti tank and artillery roles, your friends use the infantry and tank roles. 4. Enough to build 1 layer of anti tank.

Btw have you try the ostheer version of fortifications? Its call joint operations commander. Its basically the same thing as fortifications commander however it has two different abilities (the field artillery officer and recon plane) while default pioneers squad already has everything that you need for field defense.
