i can still remember my mom holding a small tape recorder / & my siblings and i saying 'hi daddy. . . ' into it, then she put it and some other items into a small cardboard box and sent to him in Danang, Vietnam . Beaufort South Carolina , late 1960's
We can argue all day the merits or lack thereof of the Vitenam War, but it's hard to argue that it doesn't have one of the better soundtracks of any war.

I am restoring my 1967 Cessna O-2A Skymaster back to flying condition. It was in Vietnam from 67-72. She hasn’t flown since 1979 when the Air Force delivered her to the boneyard. When she’s back up flying should I post it to RU-vid with this song or something else? Being sarcastic. It seems most Vietnam clips feature this song. I was hoping to have her completed last year but Covid then child support really slowed the process down drastically.
My dad was in the TET Offensive (Army) Infantry and won 2 Purple Hearts. He's such a wonderful good exception man. I'm lucky to have been raised by him. 💜💜

Well, it turned out that I WAS "the fortunate one." Half my tech school class went to Vietnam, and the rest of us went somewhere else for the duration.
Im too young to remember anything about the Vietnam war (58) but when I've read, or listened, to how viet vets were treated when returning home really angered me. I wish to express my gratitude to , not just Vietnam veterans, but all veterans for their service. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS.

Different genre to the original which suited the underground '80s soul movement better than the original IMO. However, nothing can touch the James Brown funk ver,sion which in the 60s saw JB invent a whole new music stream invented and for which he still doesn't seem to get the credit.
