Forum host Mina Kim talks with authors Joanna Ho and Lisa Moore Ramée about their books, about taking on bias, racism, and inequity, and about the importance of young readers of all backgrounds seeing themselves in stories.
Bestselling author Joanna Ho tells the story of a child’s journey to self-love and acceptance in "Eyes that Kiss in the Corners," her debut children’s book released earlier this year. In a new picture book, "Playing at the Border: A Story of Yo-Yo Ma" (Fall 2021), Ho highlights the world-famous cellist and the way that music can build bridges between countries and cultures.
Lisa Moore Ramée was born and raised in Los Angeles and she now lives in Northern California, with her husband, two kids, one obnoxious cat and a sweet dog. "A Good Kind of Trouble" was her debut novel, published in 2019. Something to Say was published in 2020. "Mapmaker," a middle grade fantasy, will be out in 2022.
