The VW Santana was also very famous here in Brazil in the 90`s

the Santana was just a huge childhood memory for me, it was all over the streets in the cities in China as taxis, and back in the days in late 90s and early 2000s it was a thing to brag about if you own a Santana, hell, many still remains in nearly perfect condition till this day, goes to show the excellent build quality

I live in Shanghai and I have to say I absolutely love this pack, that Santana aka 桑塔纳 used to be the most popular car in China especially in Shanghai as Nick said, in the 90s and 00s most of our cabs and cop cars are Santana, it’s durable, affordable and somewhat comfortable, most of us learnt how to drive in this car because driving schools in Shanghai used to exclusively use Santana also you need to pass your license test in a Santana (there’s no options during that time, MT Santana only, now we have Skoda which is actually a VW as well and new Santana) 20 years ago to fix a Santana is very cheap, for 30 dollars you can get a 3rd party new bumper, it looks like every one knows how to fix that car, that’s also a reason why it’s so popular, but nowadays the most popular car you can see on a Shanghai street is portably Tesla Model 3s. On the other hand that Wulin mini is not that popular in Shanghai, because it cannot get free license plate after the new policy, a license plate in Shanghai can cost more than 20,000CAD normally if you get a electric car, you can get the green ev plate for free. But Wulin mini is not on the free plate list any more (due to it’s lacking of power), we can no longer buy it and get the free plates, thus it will cost whatever it costs+20,000 CAD

The Wuling Hongguang Mini EV that seats up to 4 people, costs 4000 to 5500 usd$ with the 1x1XM AC permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 27 horsepower with 63 lb ft, maximum speed of 100 km/h with it's rear-wheel-drive. They even sell a variant of this(wuling air ev) under MG Comet name in India. But its not cheap starting around INR 8.6L(~~over 10K USD). And it looks wierd AF.
