I am Chilean, I speak English quite well, and I appreciate your articulate, slow and clear way of referring to each aspect. I also appreciate your care and honesty regarding your review.
I’ve got this hooked onto a Frank’in system, a collection of Craigslist rejects….k but if you get this “dialed in” with my rig in my bar: F-L: Martin Logan TXI - 15’s. Little bookies..and f’n perfect for this room F-R:His matching ML - 15i as above Then I daisy-chain the left with: REL SUB 10”, Morel Octave 6 Limited Edition And then on the right supplemental: Focal Aria [center only] And the BT30, is loud enough to get you kicked out of the neighborhood.
I got one of these for a mobile setup. On mine the knobs were put on wrong, you might want to check that (extreme positions not symmetrical) It actually has the TPA3255 chip not the TPA3116D2 That was used in older models. Sound quality didn't disappoint at all. Easily as good as my Marantz CR-401 (CD receiver)
i'm using the BT30D pro with 2 SVS prime pinnacle towers and an SB1000 pro and it sounds amazing. Can't imagine needing anything more and it's so easy to bluetooth in. Gets louder than I can handle with 0 issues.
A very good review. I have the BT30D pro with the blue tooth. I find the volume to be slightly less using BT than with direct wired input, but its pretty good. The more I listen to the Bluetooth setup, the more I like it. so easy to just send music to the thing and let it play. I dont understand why fosi sells different transformers with different voltage inputs. No where in their literature do I see anything about the advantage of the higher voltage input. I would assume more volume, but have no idea. Last thing is i have never turned my volume knob to max for fear of clipping and ruining a speaker. not sure how loud it would be, but I have other normal sized amps for louder playing. I bought it purely on a whim , and I am happy I did. Fosi has the quality, where some of the tube type mini amps buyers claim they are not lasting very long.
I appreciate your review. Still, to me it’s shocking hearing people talk about Bluetooth without discussing SBC vs LDAC vs AAC or aptX and then say Bluetooth “may possibly” degrade the signal - yes, you’re recompressing to a low complexity, low bitrate, lossy format - but then go on about balanced cables for short distance runs (so minute), or even class AB vs D amplifiers. I realize you probably don’t normally listen to your tunes crushed by SBC codec, but to me it’s night and day. We all have different ears I suppose! Thanks again. Personally I’m happy with cheap, small amps everywhere as long as they pass muster under empirical testing. Check the TPA3255 class D, it’s incredible. I can’t say for anyone else, but to me this “analytic vs musical” sounds very much like preference for tube tone and simply the placebo effect. I only have one digital to analog conversion though, I mix my inputs digitally, and no lossy compression. (256-320kbps AAC/Vorbis is fine, it passes blind A/B testing as identical to source)
When my Arcam Alpha 7 CD player and 100W/channel Kenwood KA89 integrated amp died, I replaced them with a Sony $40 DVD player to play CDs, and a Neoteck class D amp that's very similar to the Fosi BT20, with a pair of analog RCA inputs, binding posts for 1 pair of speakers, Bluetooth, and bass and treble controls, and uses the same TI3116 amp chips. With the power supplies that these amps come with, if you multiply the voltage times current capacity of the power supply, that will tell you the total amount of power available from the supply. Assuming a very generous 90% efficiency, which class D can sometimes be capable of, multiply that total by .9, and then by .5 to arrive at the maximum power available to each speaker. Then multiply that by .63 to get RMS instead of peak power, and then you'll have a rough idea of the actual power output of these little amps, which will be around 40-50W/channel, which is plenty for moderate listening levels in a small to medium sized room. It's plenty power for me in my small room sitting 10 ft. (3M) from my Wharfedale Diamond 9.1s. And, to my ears, it sounds every bit as good as the Arcam/Kenwood combo did. Total cost- $40 for the Sony, $50 for the amp, $200 for the speakers used on Ebay, and $50-100 for the Audioquest or Straightwire interconnects, and around another $50 for the Audioquest 14ga. in-wall speaker cable I use, and 4pairs of banana plugs for the speaker cable connections on the amp and speakers, for about another $20, for a total cost of about $460.
Yep, I have a couple of these - Douk Audio, Nobsound and Moukey - all "cheap" Chinese audio bought for well under a hundred pounds. I use them in secondary smaller set ups and all great value for money. They punch well above their weight.
I have the TB10A, and I also have a little Topping digital amp. Your right they are really good for the size and quite powerful. However even compared to something low end like a Denon 600ne amp, the Denon trounces it completely in every respect. The Denon is rated far lower for power but honestly blows both my little amps out of the water and the quality was way better on the Denon. But I agree that is great for a desk top set up, personally I dumped the Fossi and accoustic Q 2010is for a pair of JBL104's powered monitors for my PC, which to my ears are better.
Do you have a sub as well? I have the BT30D and the Q4 headphone amp...just waiting for my cables to arrive and then I'll see if I can hook all this up together
@@RobertSpiller No i do not have a sub, funnily enough i tried the TB10a and the topping with Wharfdale 225, accoustic q 2010i/2020i and 2050i, a pair of jbl one pro. (the 4ohm version) and some Dali oberon 1's (i have few pairs of speakers knocking around) it worked well with the 2020i and the 2050i although the bass lacked some grip with the floor standers, but they properly struggled with the dali Oberon 1. The Oberons were just lifeless it was like despite the claimed watts it just did not have the grunt to power these.
I don`t agree! I soley use FOSI for everything! I have found that things change quite dramtically when you start to get into the price point above $700. Then I would take notice of thinghs other than the "cheap" chinese/japanese products! Denon is made in Tokyo,Japan!
@@robertkensler2156 everyones ears and tastes will differ and I am sure some will prefer the little chinise amps ( to be fair a lot of brands are made in china anyhow), however the design of it wont be. As for Japanese Hifi is generally really well made and engineered and not the same as some of the China knock offs. Denon is an old brand that orginated in japan, but not 100% but I think its now owned by a US company, that also owns Maranz, Bower and wilkins, and Polk, and probaly most of it will be made in china, just not designed there.
Hi, the 48 v power supply should make a huge difference compared to the 32v 5 power supply, doubling the power 150 watt ish in 4 ohm at low distortion ,mabye 1% or even more power
@@RobertSpiller It's got the upgraded chips and rated at 150 watts per channel 350 for the bass, but don't bother it doesn't sound as clean and gets hot even with no volume. I returned it for the standard version much better imo...
I did this @brucesamuelson but be careful, if used with an active sub you can't control the bass or bass frequency, as it only has a preout, whereas the standard has a sub-out, I was disappointed . Normal one is so good though and probably fine for my Cambridge minx 12
My big question on the BT30D is whether the Sub Freq (subwoofer crossover frequency) adjustment is only a low pass crossover for the subwoofer low-level (RCA line level) and high-level (powered) outputs, or if it also serves as a high-pass filter for the main L/R high level (powered) outputs.
@@dittonworks I have a Monoprice powered sub, and the BT30D....how do I hook up the sub to the BT30 do I need to order cables for them...cables came with them but as you know, on the back of the amp there are 3 sub outs...1 on the left and 2 on the right...any suggestions would be most appreciated because I do not know what I'm doing lololothis is my first budget system for me. Oh yes I do have the Sony SSCS5
@@RobertSpiller you need to use the 3.5mm headphone output jack on the back of the bt30D pro on the none pro model it is a mono RCA output you will use
Yes …all above, but specifically for the BT30d that I’m enjoying, my “Passive” sub is a Pioneer big boy, but then you can pair that 3.5 to the powered sub’s too. So for less than a tank of gas this little unit is freaking amazing. TWO BIG PROBLEMS: 1. Heat. It gets hot and in high heat outside with full levels runnning it lasted about 4 hours. But after it cool off and got done being pissed off at me it played fine. It’s a jiffy puppy. 2. Where’s the ‘entire middle”???? The mid-range is the reason these are cheap. Otherwise for the price it can’t be beat IMHO. Again, small room. Bar with darts and big enough for two cars size. So fills the room big time. More middle. Please….🙏
I've got the same Target stands as you and Spendor SR35R2 speakers, what do you use between them? They look like spikes, I've found blu tack the worst sounding followed by rubber bumpers being much better but tempted to try some sort of spike/cone system. Cheers Andrew Good luck with the move!
Anyone know if the main speaker outputs simultaneously adjust high pass , coinciding with adjustment of the low pass subwoofer frequency control adjust knob??? I'm assuming the main speaker out's ALWAYS play full range signal, regardless of the subwoofer freq setting? Curious, thx Reply
I have the bt30d not the pro I have it on a pair of technics sbt200 and you these speakers they are quite power hungry and it drives em perfect and they are very sensitive so at max volume on a different amp you can hear like white noise the bt30d nothing but silence I have the tone controls on the bass on 12 o'clock and the treble at 3 o'clock I mostly listen to chill wave and I have a b&w asw10cm low pass on that is on 12 o'clock and the vol on the sub 10 o'clock and on the amp all the sub controls are 12 o'clock and it all works great the output for the amp at 8ohms is 25watts and 4ohms 50watts and 2ohms 100 watts
I have the BT30D myself...how do I add a sub to them...the 3 sub outs on the back...which one do I use? I am a complete newby so any help would be appreciated.
"I think there was some quality lost over Bluetooth" lol WAT look up Bluetooth ACL it's built to ensure no data is lost in transit. If you're in range, the signal quality is as good as it could get
