As someone that owns a dx1, this post makes me feel fomo'd by A LOT. I'm not sure if I want to buy a dongle or the sk02 but if I had to buy a desktop one, it would be the sk02 for sure. There is a lot of dongles these days and if I have to get one, most of them have balanced which makes me need to have a balanced cable as well. Idk anymore. Great review as always
I'm so sorry bro, I also felt the same way with the DX1. Thankfully, selling it is always an option and that's what I'm planning to do very soon as I haven't had the need to use the DX1. The redeeming quality about the DX1 is it's the only "portable" DAC that I know of that has a 6.35mm output and that came in handy when I went to a local audio event where they had a bunch of headphones that were only terminated to 6.35mm. Phone compatibility, like I mentioned, was also a massive pro against the SK02, so if you take the DX1 out more than it stays in, then the DX1 is still a good choice. But I won't lie, the SK02 is just better bang for your buck and if you really wanna go for the SK02, sell your DX1 and add a bit for the SK02. You won't regret it, I promise.
I have two of them, I don't use everything else at home. You can use it without a computer with an usbc hub with power supply (i use all usbc aceele hub)
