I@@OverlandFlorida I enjoyed your video thank you. Ive grown up around gators they are attracted by dogs. I will say I noticed your pup stayed near you and when it was roaming both kept an eye on him. Like that you should be safe.
I am a Florida Native. Born and raised in the Lakeland- Bartow area. My Dad knew every name of all the trails in Green Swamp and Richloam. He hunted and fished voraciously. He drove his Willys Jeeps and Broncos through the woods with water coming in one door and out the other. I loved to fish the Peace River catching Nile perch.
My Dad who passed away 2 years ago to the day at 96 worked at the phosphate mines as did I and my brother still does. I have jars of prehistoric bones and arrowheads.
@@OverlandFlorida yeah the Meg tooth he found was when we were swimming around at Venice and he stepped on it and brought it up by his toes and there it was lol. The biggest I have personally found out there is great white teeth
Hey, could you recommend an area to give this a try? I have kayaked the Peace river many times and normally dip in / or around Bartow. We live here in Winter Haven and enjoy seeing your post!! I saw this post and it peaked my interest. Already built my screen!! Thanks Ken
@@OverlandFlorida I can't use your decal! I need my own! Lol. I saw your thumb nail and it looks just like my fj with the kayak up top. Then was delighted to see it was you! I just spent the last month on the Appalachian Trail. Not a lot of footage but had a great time. I have to go out with you guys to one of these cool off road kayaking places some day ... And it's about to be too hot for tent camping. May be in the Fall.
The further down river, the more people access there is. We found countless cans, bottles, styrofoam cups, grocery bags, tires and some things we just could load up on our kayaks and canoes. I pick up trash everytime I kayak. But when you are actually looking for it, you will be surprised.
Well, the entire state of Florida was once under water and the sharks swam freely all over. So if you dig down deep enough in Florida you can find layers from that time period and uncover all kinds of fossils. The peace river just happens to have a lot of gravel sediment and uncover lots of sharks teeth.
look in the deeper water for the big megs and along the shore by big tree roots!!!!!!!!! if you ever need someone to go with let me know!! lol I lived down there for 10 years!!! im in the tampa bay area now.
Next time you go through the Bowling Green area I'd highly recommend 'Smokin' Joe's BBQ'. Definitely one of the best BBQ places I've eaten at in FL in my 32 years of living here. Nice video
Overland Florida Yup, that’s right down the street from me so I’m always passing by. I like to get the custom cut steaks from Rick’s which is right next door.
Overland Florida oh nice! I’ve never been down there but pass it frequently. That’s sweet you have access to that range. Also, you must be familiar w Alafia. River SP. I just finished watching all of your vids today however I don’t recall seeing one where you go there.
really impressed with your vlogs young man!....found you recently,,,i live in st pete fl,,,,so im looking forward to visiting the places you have showed us.....Nicole is a sweety btw!
Y’all should watch Paleocris or Wild Kyle. They fossil hunt in the peace river. It will teach you how to recognize ray plates, turtle skoots, and all kinds of stuff y’all were throwing out. Great video
in our family..we turn EVERYTHING into a competition! with sharks teeth, : who finds the most, who finds the biggest, who finds the smallest and the prettiest (subjective) PRIZE? bragging rights!!! also there was not a spot to request which sticker(decal) on my paypal donation?
I was there back in 2001, there was a severe drought, we walked most of the river, was awesome to see the river bed without water, great trip, my shark's tooth still hangs in my truck after all these years
Cool! One of my first cousins who lives in Florida found a considerable mammoth fossil down there some years back. I can't recall if he found it digging or on a scuba trip (I'll try to ask him). Skull and one tusk, I believe. It was donated to a museum. If you find out what those larger bones are, let us know.
I was wondering the same thing. I wish people would give the GPS coordinates or atleast somewhere close. They say go to this part and that part but where is this or that? haha
