My wife always has more steps on her Versa 1 than my Fossil Carlyle. I'm pretty sure it's because our ladies have shorter legs than us. The distances are the same though.
I Have this watch for 2 months now. It is excellent if you are seeking a minimal smart watch. With my use it ranged from 11 to 15 days on a charge. With updates there is great potential of improving even more. Best Impulse Preorder I’ve ever made :)
@@nicholasfitchett7278 after 2 years of use the screen has faded and hands stopped working. But it was the best watch I ever had. I’m currently waiting on the new gen 6 neutra.
I own the HR since November and I'm very happy with it. I does what I what from a wearable. It shows me the time and who and what kind of notification I got. For me the power lasts about 1,5 weeks. Great review. Most of what you said sounds familiar to me.
How's the connectivity on Bluetooth? If I walk away from my phone and bluetooth disconnects will it reconnect automatically when I come near my phone again?
@@totamendez3989 In my case, if I walk away and it disconnects, I have to restart my phone. Bluetooth crashes completely. I don't know, if it's an issue of my phone (Pixel 4)
I'm a light user - a few notifications, a timer or two every day... and I'm legit getting 2 weeks out of a charge. I don't wear the watch while sleeping, but I usually have it on all the time when I'm awake.
except bothersome notifications you might have to take you phone out of your pocket for 20 times a day? for that alone, a smartwatch Hybrid is practical. For me, heart beat, temperature for hydration, day and date at 66yo post open heart surgery are also useful, right on the face without pushing a button and it is a proper analogue watch to boot. This watch was made for me.
Yeah, I think it's not the most accurate for tracking, but good enough for basics. As far as your trip with her, I think its just that she's clearly about 4 inches shorter than you, so she probably does take more steps to go the same distance.. doesn't seem impossible to add up during an all day convention imo.
Just got this after my previous Gen 3 fossil smartwatch would not charge anymore. This is the perfect balance for me for a smartwatch - like you said its perfect to just have a quick check or track things and less mindless time on my phone!
@@keicbajenfhencisienfcs309 Na, only analog. Gotta get used to reading watch hands again lol. I ended up buying one myself and really like it though. Battery life is amazing it's at like 28% right now, and I charged it on the 11th (15 days ago!)
Bought one this week, never been so happy with a watch. I added so many custom backgrounds, the battery life is indeed amazing. And ofcourse the spotify remote :o
I can't wait for retailers in the EU to start selling these, I can't order from the official Fossil store sadly. I got an LG G Watch R as my first smartwatch, but ditched it because charging every day was too much of a hassle for me. This thing seems to do everything I want a smartwatch to do, looks great, and lasts a long time. Super hyped!
Big fan of most of the review, but no comment on media controls? I think being able to pause/play music or skip songs etc. is something a lot of people want out of a smartwatch, seems odd not to mention if this has or doesn't have those capabilities.
I had the pebble time 2 and sadly it stopped working. So I got the amazfit bip as many people did. It's good but it's missing some features that pebble had. Now the fossil sport is on sale and I'm really wanting one, but with a sale that big, it may mean a new watch will be coming out soon maybe.
@@Mark-xw5yt I was a backer on Kickstarter for the pebble time 2 so I guess the materials weren't the best. The back panel came off and water was seeping in and also the battery wasn't lasting. Then it stopped pairing to my phone and the screen stopped working. I'm sad it died, if it didn't I would still be using it today. Also I got the Fossil sport
You can get this watch for incredible prices on their website right due to the sale they are running. Make sure you use Honey, and it should find a code to take another 30% off.
Many report the e ink can fade and die over time. I had mine over 2 years and mine officially crapped out due to condensation of sweat this month. NOW I couldn't get warranty.... but I did get 50% off on a brand new watch because I could send in the broken one. Since there is a new Gen 6 I got a smokin deal- under 100 CAD for a brand new fossil hybrid HR. It helps that there's a new model to lower the price of the current line but it's really not that much different
I am 66yo, I now understand Fossil Hybrid Smartwatch HR FTW7017 from your presentation. I think it would be helpful not to take my phone out of my pocket to deal with notifications and all messages. Thankyou. About showing 1,000 less steps than the smaller female with a shorter step?? Your step number would satisfy me in those circumstances
LOL, the part about forgetting the charger. That's exactly what is happening to me right now. My watch is at 7%. so let's see how long this thing can hold.
Probably she had a shorter stride length. I usually have the same experience with my wife, but this time with same devices measuring the steps number...
As far as the step counter goes, her legs are probably a bit shorter than yours so it's possible that throughout a full day of walking she did take a lot more steps than you.
I got Amazfit GTR 47 and it keeps battery for 10-12 days with smart always on display. Not super smart watch, but smarter than Fossil HR. 24 days of battery life with regular use and no AoD is no bull$hit and tracking sleep, steps and even skiing thanks to GPS is a better deal even if it doesn't look as good as a truly analogue watch with physical hands. Thought that ppl interested in this might look around for Amazfit GTR or Xiaomi mi color as imo they're worthy opponents to hybrid watches.
length of women steps are smaller than men steps, so in a long way walk your wife have a lot more steps and thats not because of watch sensor Accuracy!
hey! have a question about the timer or stopwatch: for instance if you start timer, can you go back to the watch mode and then check stopwatch working in background mode? thanks
I dont know what Fossil was thinking with this watch may Garmin vivo active 4 last 7 to 8 days and is has a better screen and a better heart rate monitor and a bigger screen for almost the same price. Great video love your videos.
I would love this but I can get the fossil gen 5 for ~€50 more. And that has google assistant and gps. I would love this but only if the price was just a bit lower
I think you made me decide to buy it for my partner. My only concern. He is going to be fifty and I worry the writings might be a little small for his aging eyes.
I think this MIGHT be the watch I have in mind. I had the TIMEX DATALINK USB 851 that you could synch your Outlook calendar appts with notifications, contacts, and a few alarms but that's now obsolete. Does this calendar app synch with Google or Outlook or is it an entirely separate program that also has to be maintained?
I'd go with MobVoi.. With double layered screen. Hybrids, while seems nice R very limited. In addition, I can tell u that as of right now the Google Wear OS greatly 'took away fat of heavy OS operations' making it way better performing - no more Emails readings for instance.. so got somewhat optimized. I agree, that as of now technology is still not there, but probably another year or two and will get it there.
Spotify: yes. At least on Android it supports the standard media player interactions on your phone. But since it is only a smartphone companion you can't put music on it. Just control the music on your phone.
Hi all, does anyone know if I can switch off the Bluetooth on the watch itself? I want to interrupt all radiation and communication at night during sleep. Thanks!
Imagine... having a solar powered smartwatch, but I don’t think manufacturers will implement it anytime soon, so that they can milk the existing smart watch tech and charging accessories dry
Yes it does, both reg calls and whats app calls. It vibrates and the display shows incoming call and the caller's name. You also have the option to reject the call and send 1 of 3 quick responses. You have the ability to change the quick responses to whatever you would like in the app.
About the notifications for text messages, dont you still need to take out your phone just to read the whole message since it doesnt show the whole message if it is quite long?? LOOL. and i just wish this can reply right on your wrist instead of just previews. other messages from apps like instagram, its fine i dont see the previews but text and whatsapp only. and you didnt mention the phone calls on this ..
Actually... I was expecting this watch have more battery life... considering that the Huawei GT2 Watch have more than double battery lfie, yet more functional... Or perhaps... Qualcom need to throw out 7nm Smartwatch SOC.
But not when you have the display always on. Also you can see that it is a smartwatch. The Collider looks like a normal watch, some people prefer that. And the e ink display is easier to use in sunlight. I think the choice is what you want from a smartwatch.
Wow i love the idea of Hybrid watched for battery life and that i can see most of that stuff on my phone, just need watch for sensors not display. but 1 week battery is Rubbish,i used Huwawe watch runs for 2 weeks , i used lenovo hybrid watch and disabled watch on rise , battery ran for Month !! but the app crashed now not i app store so not reliable company or app
Any black people who own one here? I have successively bought and returned 2 hybrid watches, because the hr sensor does not work on black skins (racist tech?) I am still looking for one and would welcome some feedback...
