I was raised in a children's home in the 1960s in Windsor in the UK, I was put in care with my sister and brother when I was 3 years old when we were abandoned by our parents. I was fortunate that the home I was placed in was run by a loving women who to this day I consider a mum - I was thrown out by the council when I was 16 although I remained under the council's care until I was 21. There were 23 girls in the Home and we used to get free records from somewhere, I've no idea from whom, and this was one of them and I used to play it constantly - I cannot remember who sang it but I remember the Matron used to come in and switch it off. It still gives me the shivers today.
