This one of those songs after listening to it for the first time your like “yea it was good” but the more you listen to it the better it gets for some reason

What I love about Foster The People is that they're not trying to be just another alternative band, they have their own sound and Mark is such a talented singer/songwriter. This band is way too underrated!

I do not know how many times my dad played this song. he is 47 and he never liked new bands , then he knew foster the People when I showed him. he love this song so much, and i will Always remember him when I listen to this; even more now, that he is away . thanks foster. you guys make beautiful things .

I am a guy brought up on 70's and 80's rock, but I really like these guys. I lost my mother a month ago and to me it represents keeping going when things are at their worst. It encapsulates her sudden bad turn, her struggle and unexpected death, getting the late night phone call, telling and comforting my kids, the wake, the funeral and all the other arrangements. This encapsulates being completely lost. It was like "sipping poison and having to hold on tight".

Musicians say they make music to help people… this song… I was listening to this song when I was 19, living in Las Vegas by myself, afraid of everything. I was isolated and I never got to pursue what I wanted to there because I was unshakably sick for two months!! I was there to pursue an artistic career of sorts. I was also setting up an art studio and started to have a drinking problem because I was so sick, and I was contemplating suicide and other reckless things. “Yeah, yeah, and it’s okay…. I tie my hands up to a chair so I don’t fall that way” this line has held me down somehow envisioning my hands tied behind me to just SIT DOWN no matter how uncomfortable and miserable I am. It hit my bones. I have PTSD and I don’t live an easy life, and I’m 23 now and I still go back to this line in my head sometimes like it’s magic. So yeah, in case foster the people reads this…. you’ve helped me in the darkest times of my life.

This song and video will always be special to me. One of their best songs and features a blue heeler, a dog breed I’ve owned my entire life. The video inspired me to get one so I did the same year this video released. He sadly passed away last year. He gave me the best 10 years I could ask for. RIP Rocky. I really miss this version of Foster the People. Wish they could have stayed together. Torches was special.

My mom always played this song in the car when I was younger and it was one of my favorites. I never knew the name of it but the other night I bumped into it after listening to another song by Foster and I started crying bc it’s such a good song and I recognized it as soon as it turned on.

I like this song even more than Pumped Up Kicks and that was a great tune.

I don't know what it is about the video but I wish the studio version had the same intro as a kid it scared me, but now coming back to listen after 5 -10 years that intro brings back so much nostalgia

o.o this guy's voice is infectious. He can hit those high notes but it doesn't sound strained. Not to mention Foster the People are truly awesome with their music. When I first heard I would do anything for you I was very surprised that Foster the people would even do a love song but damn they did it so well that I actually consider myself a fan because they do so well on their music. Helena beat is no exception. Funny thing is if you're one of those music listeners who isn't impressed after the first 10 seconds this song really isn't for you, but if you have more patience than that you'll find a song worth listening to and adding to your playlist. 😊

That morning i woke up to helena beat on mtv and got dressed with my window open and the only visible thing was clouds. Thinking if this is the start i can't imagine what's next. 11 years later im 22 and i still have that as one of my best memories....

It's crazy. They make the songs sound so happy but the lyrics are always so sad. That makes this song just as sad as songs by artists that actually HAVE sad moods to their music.

I got traumatized when I saw this when I was 10. I would listen to FTP on RU-vid on repeat and still watch even thought their songs and videos scarred the shit out of me.

God I love this song it’s very personal to me, loved this song when I was young and still had a stable family and a home my old pets years were I only had to worry about my schoolwork and cartoons but even as I grow up I can look back and reflect on my past and the people who made it great this song will always be here and forever remembered.
