The locals want to keep it a secret because when a nearby lake is overcrowded, they like to come here. It is bigger than the other lake but harder to get to. The road off the highway to here is about 6 miles.
Is that Phoenix Lake which for some reason is not in Phoenix Arizona? It's not Pine Crest, that one is over crowded this time of year. I been there a few times. Oddly enough someone stopped to ask me directions to Pine Crest AT Pine Crest Lake, I turned around, pointed at the lake and said "You see that huge body of water right there? That's the lake, you're already here."
