Those kinds of laws are anti leeching laws anti cheating laws anti noncomformity laws people in charge consider you a leech a cheater a non conforming person. You are making money from waste and they don't like that. They think it should be THEIR money to throw away (really prevent YOU from having it) because "how dare" you figure out how to make money or possibly even a living without "confirming" to their ideal of how you make a living. They won't admit it but THAT IS why they make such laws. the only reason we don't have laws like that is strangely enough because of how evil/corrupt our "police" are in this country. they WANT free access to the garbage so under our legal system they can't deny YOU access. either its public and the police (and you) have access to it or its private and your stealing it and the police need a warrant. They can't have it both ways because of how our laws are written. Its pretty damned sad. people like you do a GOOD SERVICE removing waste that would otherwise fill a landfill AND increasing reused/recycling. and on top of it you get paid. its a triple win and it drives them nuts.
@@MrShekoexile tag Google in that because they're the ones who made the mistake I used their voice dictation And while we're at it why don't you try the use your brain technique you know logic reasoning deduction context seeing as how the correct word was used twice before that example it was clearly simply a misspelling by the voice dictation software so get over yourself And just because you're a namby-pamby little douche nozzle I'm going to leave that misspelling in there just to annoy you even if only a tiny bit :-)
Wow taking it to the point. I appreciate your legal information. Good job continue your education on the laws. Why resist a person's willingness and hard work to stop landfills being filled then smoothed over with objects that can be recycled instead of used as materials that someone will live on and use the land for farming and sustainable life. Thank you agsin.
I'd love a video of behind the scenes how the scrap yard crunches, cubes, and divides the scrap. Maybe Michael will allow a day in the life of what happens after you guys dump scrap. I'm totally interested. God love you Paul. You're a blessing.
You could make so much money off some of this stuff than scrap. I loved the grill and if lived closer I would have taken off your hands!! Never have seen one like that, I get it though...takes time and listing and all that not so fun stuff. Scrapping is instant gratification. Love your channel and bless you for keeping this stuff out of our landfills while making a little $$!! Best of both worlds!!
Paul, you are my favorite channel. I appreciate your love for the Lord and that you’re not ashamed to praise Him. You spout information on subjects I will never use. But if I’m ever a contestant on Who Wants to be a Millionaire, can I use you as my “phone a friend “ lifeline?
Absolutely :-) I know you're just being funny, but that's quite the compliment. Growing up doing so poorly in school and not being able to read very well, I've always had low esteem regarding my intelligence. Thank you for your kind words
Have you ever thought about taking things to your local auction house? That grill, the bongos, the fire pit, and especially the furniture you find can fetch you quite a bit more profit if you resell it opposed to scrapping it. Just a suggestion. Thanks.
you would need a minimum critical mass of items value quantity. (auction house wants a cut) then you have to factor in transport and storage costs. if you already have a warehouse space with a couple spare 200sqft rooms? and the auction house is around the corner? sure that works. but the stuff does not teleport around. he has to expend resources to load transport and store until he has sufficient quantity to be worth selling and then expend resources to transport it pay fees pay taxes etc.. and do all this in a short enough timespace so storage costs don't exceed what you can make selling it. This is why people go for high value items (which most grills for example are not) ie more dollars/sqft/kg of items. If you spend $30 in fuel and storage to make $10 you are doing more harm to the environment than if it just went to a landfill. it sucks that it has to be that way but it is what it is. he does not live in a super high density location but higher than rural for sure so he is in that "middle ground" area where if he picks right he can save some things and profit a little.
That can’t be your #1 fan Paul, because I am. 😄 Seriously, the world needs more gentlemen like you Paul, strong faith, big ol’ kind heart and great sense of humor. God bless you my friend.
*You're misunderstanding what the law about "Theft/Larceny by Finding" is about, we have that here in the United States as well.* *Example:* *If you walk down the street and find a phone on the side of the road, you legally can't just can't keep it, take it home and start using it as if it's yours, you're legally obligated to turn it in to the police. If the phone gets traced back to you and you're in possession of it especially after a couple days, you could be charged for theft by converting it to your own personal property, that is "Theft/Larceny by Finding.* *On the other hand, once garbage goes to the curb it becomes open to the public, scrapping would be neither trespassing or theft, that's also how police can go through your curbside garbage and not need a search warrant, it would be a different story if it was on the side of your house.*
Your explanation for theft by finding is similar to that of the UK. The difference is that you must show that you have taken steps to find the owner or by handing it over to the police. The scrap industry in the UK is more regulated due to the actions of a criminal minority. This happened due the thefts of cables from utility companies networks. Yes, live electrical lines from power companies and the railways. As well as drain and manhole covers. Now in the UK if you want paid for the scrap you're selling. You are required to have a bank account. (Plenty of ways around this no doubt).
Also in some areas the "recycle" bins, those sometimes go to places that sort and sell, so sometimes taking from those is illegal. Paul has explained many times that his area recycle place wouldn't want the metal scrap, they melt, Pelletize and sell plastic.
That ended up to be a good load. Well if the drum doesn't work out , you now have a new plant stand. Glad they cleaned out a place for you to dump as it really was getting difficult. Have a great long weekend Paul. Keep Safe ❤Keep Well ❤
Hi Paul, I'm a hoarder too! Working on not being one. I love the 20 seconds of Tranquility at the pond with water fountain. Have you ever watched "Adventures made from Scratch"? Theme is a junk yard with a man who uses a massive front loader like it is an extension of his hands. Then he crushes automobiles in a crusher. Happy Labor Day :)
Thank you for letting us hang out with you Paul! I loved that old car picture and the solid wood dresser and head board and foot board is something I'm looking for. I don't want any of that particle board stuff, falls apart to easy. Anywho, have a great day and God bless you my friend! You're #1 fan😉✌
It's more interesting and socially responsible when Paul takes non scrap items like the rugs and such. I hope he continues to do so. He can always give away good stuff if he decides later he doesn't want it.
its a catch 22 and he does have to be careful. creating a hoarding situation can creep up on you faster than you might think. ie have to be able to very easily and readily "let go" otherwise you end up with a warehouse in your backyard (ask me how I know :-) hehehehe HE also has very limited space. so he has to prioritize. it would be nice to save everything but not practical. after a certain time/distance travel/aquisition costs exceed the material value of the item. this is part of why I got an electric car and have a trailer hitch on it. now my travel/acquisition "range" is greatly increased without increasing my costs.
Keep the hard work paul scraping is the best thing to do you find rarely or random stuff you haven't seen before in my opinion anyway ill enjoy watching your videos it's a amazing god bless you and your family in this difficult times we are living in right now.
As I was driving back from picking up Ice and MRE's from a local donation site where the National Guard is set up I couldn't help but look at every pile on the side of the road and think man Mike the Scavenger and Paul Scrap & Pallet man would have a field day with all this scrap. Yes I live where Hurricane Ida landed. Our house was spared but many weren't. My little piece of normal is watching my favorites on RU-vid.
Good afternoon Mr. Paul. I hope you have a wonderful weekend holiday. I just wants to know when your cd is coming out with all your wonderful little songs. Like get in my truck. Get in my empty truck. Lmbo. I so look forward to your videos. They just lift my spirit up. Prayers Love and Peace
The items you thought was corner shelfs, are retail baskets, where product is placed separating different items. I can't believe these ideas of using the drum as a plant stand.
🎶🎵🎶🎸🎸🎼 dododo dodo 🎶🎵🎸🎸 SAP man, some wooden fishing lures can bring a handsome price. If they're antiquated enough. And you seam to run across a lot of fishing gear. Might pay you to bone up a bit on them...
holy scrapping to you Paul. always great to see your videos Paul. keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend Paul. keep scrapping. keep recycling. keep picking. keep making. god bless.
Ii like to take those head and footboard, and cut them and combine them as a bench. No refinish, no paint. Just a few well placed screws and voila! Good hard wood is always best. Just saying Laters
When you find rugs you like, check if they are polypropylene as they don't stain or fade and they clean up easily. Good wood furniture has dovetailed wooden drawers (not pressboard).
Paul when you said "my biggest fan" while holding the fan I laughed so hard. That was an old cheesy joke my shop teacher used to make. Thanks for the nostalgic laugh. Love your vids buddy, big fan of yours
I know around here when they have big cleanup days it’s contracted out. If you take stuff put out then it’s stealing from them because they recycle and get money from it. But where I used to live they encouraged scavenging because it was less to go to the landfill.
I've those garden fences! They are expensive!. I would have grabbed the solid wood in a heart beat. Love solid stuff like that. I want to go scrapping with you!!! Fun to watch you
@ pallet man, I feel your a better man than I. When it's time to scrap i won't do big heavy items. I have a bad back and have had 3 abdominal hernias. I guess I'd rather take smalls and micro scrap. It makes sense for me
You Sir are a good man as well, because you are doing what you can in scrapping. May God bless you, take your pain away and let you know just how wonderful you are.
Hi Paul. Can you give a shout out for Phil “Canadian Treasure Hunter”. On your next video. I saw your comments on his channel. Hopefully you can help him get some more subscribers. Thanks Paul 👍👍
Thankfully, It's legal to trash pick here. I figure if they're throwing it away, they don't want it. If it's scrap, i'm more than happy to pick it up :-D
It is legal to trash pick here also, unless the owner of a dumpster puts a no trespassing sign. Then you cannot pick. I work at a store in a small town. The guy that owns the store next door, throws it a lot of just outdated food items. My boss is a hoarder. When this guy threw away food, my boss would go get it. So they put up a camera, to see if anyone is at the trash, and when he gets rid of quite a bit at one time, he dumps bleach on it. Crazy!
Thanks again for sharing your video. Glad I can watch you while my granddaughter sleeps 💤😴. You made me giggle when you said you were a hoarder might as well make it a hoarder kinda day. Take care. 🇨🇦🎈
Good video, as usual. But be careful--stay away from the hoarding habit. "Things" can be just as much an emotional weight as a physical one, and hence discourage recovery. Recovery is best helped by not only getting rid of the emotional luggage one carries around, but also by getting rid of physical burdens. It also gives one a sense of freedom, having less material things. Okay, enough of my lecturing. Keep up your good work!
I'm glad you realize the Blessings God has endowed you with! Such a blessing to find all the great stuff curb shopping!! Enjoyed the video, God Bless and stay safe!👍
It looked as if those were speaker stands out there with those Bose speakers. I would probably keep that Grill looks to be in great shape. I would have gotten that dresser and the end table could have easily been fixed. I mean even if you decided not to keep them you could sell them.
Paul's workshop is not big enough for all of the big stuff. Everything he took rolls up or stacks or does not take up to much room. He has to be able to walk and move around in his workshop.
Fantastic Paul, as usual. Hope the speakers work and you enjoy the sound from them. I love Boss equipment. Hoarding isn't the word, its salvage, I say. Saving money and the environment. Good haul of "Non Landfill" and over $80 into the bargain. Thanks for the trip Paul. Atb Phil.
It's NOT unusual to find really NICE stuff (and significantly valuable) in the trash. It's because EVEN when it has value, items in todays time are HARD to sell! Supply and demand in my area anyway. The demand for such items like the Bose systems are in extreme LOW demand. Plus there are tons of these type of things everywhere.
I am going back through your videos and watching ones I missed since you are not back yet. Hope you will be soon! I heard you talking about having surgery in Aug of 2021 but never heard anything more and there didnt seem to be a gap in your videos. What ever happened?
In the uk theft by finding does not extend to rubbish however if you funf a gold rolex or a big bag of money and make no effort to find it's owner you could possibly be charged with some horse shit law
So the theft by finding does not pertain to items that are purposefully discarded like an old rusted bicycle. That's good to hear. No one explained this. It seemed like anyone trying to recycle metal would be a criminal. I'm glad that's not the case
I have made probably $30,000 over 6 years of doing this on average just one hour a week of driving around finding things. My best find was a box of monster high dolls that I got $633 for. Another good find was 4 brand new one xbox one kinect sensors I got $440. The most common price I sell things for is $50. Gaming consoles, computers, furniture, tools, rugs, all kinds of random stuff. If someone had a shop front they could probably make at least $50,000 a year finding things, and selling them in the shop. For the small items worth only $5-$10 I end up with a big pile of them, and give them to the op shop every 6 months or so. It is a waste of time trying to sell the small items on facebook or ebay. Ever since Covid though it is hard to sell things. Less money for a lot of people I suppose, and so buying less second hand things. Before covid it was soooo easy to sell anything online. I still make money doing it though. It is fun, and exciting to see what treasure a dump holds. That chest of draws at 9:47 would of gotten $100 if in good condition.
Good Evening My Good Big Bro Paul The Scraper & Pallet Man Sir & God Bless You & Renee & All Of You're Whole Family & I Am Still Praying For You & Renee & All Of You're Whole Family This Evening & Have A Great Labor Day Weekend
Gday mate. Love yr videos. Just a thought. If you mounted a small winch to the top bar of yr rack thats above yr rear window, you could get the heavy stuff in no worries. They're cheap as chips on ebay. About AUD$95.00 which would be about USD$65.00 or so in guessing. Saw the vid of you ripping it on yr base guitar. Very nice. Cheers from Down Under. 🇦🇺🇦🇺
How much do the copper wires sell for if you calculate per foot?? If you anneal (spelling?) and straighten it with nylon tipped players it goes fo about $44 per 100 feet... for jewelry wire wrappers... just an idea for winter... ❤️❤️❤️🌹🌹🌹
Hey Paul, you could take those rugs to the self serve car wash, they usually have those little clips to hold your car mats so you could wash them, WHY NOT A BIG RUG? Maybe use some gentle laundry soap instead of the car soap (may be too strong for fabric). I would do that if the rug was nice but just dirty. NOTE: Be sure to get all of the soap out of the rug, it attracts dirt if you leave the soap in/on there. HAPPY NEW RUG!
Can't believe you passed up dresser's and all that. Going to church they have a parent in need if you understand having to restart your life. But those end tables and couch table was a big fine I found they sold those at $1200,00 so you did great. That dresser was $600.00 you left. Carpets very nice and extream expensive cost now good job. Love your day Paul. Hug's from Oregon
In the UK it's illegal to go dumpster diving, they made it a criminal offence 6-7-8 years ago now!! Sad. I also think if you started taking stuff from peoples trash that you would get done for theft by finding also!! But not 100% on that, but yes i could easily imagine our terrible govt doing something like that just to squeeze a bit more money out of you.
Go all Tom Sawyer and hang the rugs on a fence, beat them... or let the kids do that.. then hose it... shampoo of your choice.. maybe lysol... then dry in the sun on the fence shifting it around every now and again... you know what would be fun? Power washer!!! Love you, Paul... May God Bless you and your family...
Never knew the mirror driving backwards.... need to turn my head and drive. Weird. Should've seen me in fire training driving the utility w the rescue boat....god love my chief for patience.
How/where do they take all the non-metals out of the scrap? Such things as washer hoses, MW glass, crutch grips. Good pickin'!! The pic is Model Ts. Thanks for taking us along.
A good day for hoarding! You are one lucky duck on that bongo (I think they are called Djembe?), I always wanted one like that! I can't blame you on that heavy furniture, stripped down and refinished it would be better than what you can buy in most stores today (In my humble opinion anyway)! God Bless!
"C'mon Pauuuuul"...lol. I often wondered...have you ever been talking to, or about, the scrap and look up and the home owners are looking out the windows at you? "That fella really loves our trash"
Love your videos as always. I'm hoping to get my scrapping channel going this month now all the craziness is over. I'm the guy that's going to be scrapping on my mountain bike with a trailer. Prices are crazy I'm seeing on iScrap app. I'm also in Las Vegas (as you can tell by my channel name) I can't wait until you have more videos from Vegas.
No, what you do is what they do but in a facility and thats where there money is. Secondly it wouldn't be the garbage truck but recycle truck. Anyway what you do is very hard needed in any country, specially in the US of less recycle;)
Thanks for taking us with you again, It was Great and great to see you not always listening to your mind. And yes it's not easy either, So Congratulations, talking up a storm with everyone today. Take Care my Friend and Be Blessed. Gordon
