Petoskey stones are found all over. We found them on a trip to upper lower Michigan. Not all were good quality. This was back in the 70’s.

"I licked that stone... Nothing. so at first, I started licking along the initial shoreline" I know you said "looking along" but all I could hear was "Licking" and it's cracking me up. I'm sitting here visualizing you and matrix walking the beach licking rocks and tossing them to the side.

I've found them more inland and not on the beaches. I've found numerous ones on my property I had in Manistee County. You should go over to the Huron side if you want to find them on the beach. And I've found one as big as you found but it was at the harrietta fish hatchery 35 miles from Lake Michigan.

Matrix having plenty of fun as always, he so loves the beach lol. I doubt sand dollars are found anywhere near here lol, but I think they are really special. Terry and I have had some very stressful days though today's everything was sorted, we are now calming down which has been helped me by watching your video sweetheart thank you. What a wonderful surprise. I recognized the bridge immediately as you crossed over to Holden Beach, NC! My home town and one of many beautiful beaches that Brunswick Co. has to offer. I am very sad that I missed getting to meet you and Matrix in person. During the summer months 90% of my time is spent on that very beach searching for the beautiful shells and shark teeth that Holden Beach has to offer. Hope you and your sweet little Matrix visits again very soon!! Please let us know your coming!!! I love your video's. I have always been a gem geek and I've always dreamed of being a rock hound.

I haven’t been there so I’ve had to buy my Petoskeys and Charlevoixs. Some Pestoskeys and Charlevoixs may not look great rough but tumbling brings the patterns out beautifully. I have some rough and tumbled. ITpt was cool that you found stones in the ditch! I really love those shells too. Just this weekend a friend gave me a box of vintage jewelry and there was a necklace with an olive shell pendant. I never find any good shells in NJ. Maybe I don’t know where or when to look. There’s a channel I look at sometimes from south FL and all the shells there. It’s kind of amazing. I was wondering do you tumble your own stones? Thank you for this special video Bryan!

Hexagonaria coral fossils (Petoskey as you call them) are not rare at all and get a lot bigger than what you found today. the non eroded full corals with their root base still attached can be huge. I've seen them at least 2 feet across, I have one complete coral specimen not polished or eroded and it weighs about 25kg.

Be careful along the east coast picking up collectibles. Some places, the beaches have made laws that it is illegal to just pick collectibles from the sand and ocean, but you can sure *buy* some from the vendors along the boardwalks and other touristy shops. (Who actually go to the shore line and rake in all they can of the washed up collectibles for free)

There are also some mud stone rocks that have fossilized clams inside. I went to a hotel in Michigan and there was a couple mudstone boulders on the neighboring hotel and there were a ton of fossilized clams on the beach where I stayed at. Now I just have a back pack full of them.
