I live in the Netherlands so unfortunately my face is much dark than my...well everything. The struggle over here is real because chocolate sisters cannot buy any drugstore foundations/concealers since they only cater to caucasians. I just want to say thank you for helping a lot of us out and definitely for addressing every beauty struggle out there. You're an inspiration and since I started watching you my makeup game is finally on point.

This video is God sent. My niece is an administrator at a high school. And she has talked me into doing prom makeup in May, at her school. The plan is that I charge $20 for a 30 minute makeup. I'm a little (maybe a lot) scared. This will be the first time I charge for a makeup. In my opinion, prom makeup is one step behind bridal makeup. So I went glowy, romantic makeup. But I need it to last all night. I think I'm going with Morphe pro palettes for foundation, concealer, bronzer/highlight, blush. I now they have a shimmer eyeshadow palette and a metallic palette. I would love for you to tell the story of your first paid job as a MUA. But again, thanks for this video. I'm doing a RU-vid crash course on working with clients.
You are sooooo ON POINT with this tutorial!!!!!! I've looked at pics of me and always thought... "what's with all that chalkiness???" NOW... I know what to do about it. I'm a l'il lighter than you... with red undertones... definitely a cool tone. I refuse to wear browns and oranges. No sireeee! But jewel tones... ruby, sapphire, emerald, diamond, pearl, silver look best. I'm mid-50's.... but look closer to 40. I've been watching RU-vid videos like yours to learn how to modernize my look. I love you! And now I'm helping my aunties who are 70-80+. We trying to keep up with the program! All us glam-ma's our here! Love you!!!!!
Thank you for that tip of patting the foundation! That really works. I couldn't believe how much better it looked on me this morning. We use rose water as a setting mist here in the Middle East (MAC too!) so after I spritzed that on, I was very happy with the whole look.

Dear jackie, I never realized how wrong i had been wearing my foundation and this video really helped. I always have a hard time matching my foundation with the rest of my body. So your trick of swatching on your chest, as common sense as it seems, made sense to someone like me who just wants to have a everyday look. I just want to thank you so much because this video really saved me from 10 more years of embarrassing Foundation wear. Other than that I just want to say I love you as makeup artist. I've been completely clueless about foundations. I've always looked like I got hit by a bag of flour because apparently the shades I bought were pink tones and I just found out that I'm yellow toned. Hahaha! Your tutorials are so helpful, I can't stress it enough! And I love your sense of humor. Please don't stop making videos. ;3

So glad you mentioned moisturizers. I searched RU-vid for a beauty channel talking about facial moisturizers and came up short! Most people only mention primers and I am not sure if they should be used interchangeably. Especially silicone based ones.

Even though we have different skin colours and skin types and I can't really directly steal what you use on your face, I found this video very useful (colour correcting and primer/moisturizer). I am on the other side with the colour, you often said that companies don't do colour dark enough for dark skinned gals. I have to agree! I am white as snow, but still with yellow undertones, not pink, and I do not have my vessels showing through and most companies (at least where I live) make their lightest shades pink-undertoned and as a result I look like a 3 months old pink beauty blender. They have to understand that not everyone is Mariah Carey and is exactly in the middle of a colour range!
That statement about not setting with powder if you have dry skin.......It blew me away. Now I know what I've been doing wrong. And I will be getting that Mac Peach Lustre next Friday.

After buying the other beauty blenders (dupes) last month I finally purchase the original beauty blender. I have to say I really like using it and it does make a different in the application of my foundation. Thanks for sharing your tips.
The JC Penney Sephora has a small clearance area. And I found the Sephora Serum mask smoothing & revitalizing, in the clearance section for $4.99. In the ingredients I saw glycerin, hyaluronic acid and collagen among other things. You put a layer on your face, and let it sit for ten minutes. Then you rub it into your skin. It made me skin look plump and glowy. In the drugstore, Cera Ve has released the skin renewing Night Cream. One of the ingredients in it is also hyaluronic acid. I have read a lot about hyaluronic acid and I was sure it would be to expensive for me to incorporate into my skincare regimen. So I was happy to discover that the drugstore and the Sephora brand have something that will be less expensive.

Now I bought the Avon that worked for me bout 2 yrs ago and it looks quite orange on my skin now. I am soon at a loss. But your videos always put a smile on my face through all my vain adversities😂

My fav foundation is actually a drugstore one. I love the covergirl Queen foundation. Missy Lynn put me onto it years ago and I haven't strayed to a different one since.

Caroline Hirons runs the best skin care blog I've come across. She has a YT channel, but the blog is infinitely more useful. (Though, do watch the few videos she did with Dr. Sam Bunting. Lots of good information there.) I don't think she's a certified esthetician, but has worked in skin care sales, etc. for 15+ years. You may have to dig around for your specific issue, but she's a great resource for skin care.
I have dry skin and I love the matte look! What I do is I use good skin care, a good moisturizer, and a good hydrating primer! Then I go in with either another hydrating foundation or a regular one if my skin isn't so dry that day, then I do matte it out with powder! My skin looks and feels hydrated all day. Water helps too haha ^.^

I learnt the more product you use on your forehead especially near your hair line there tends to be a thick rim of foundation as there isn't a big enough area to blend the foundation out into your hair line properly. Then when you do your hair after it looks a bit weird. Using less on your forehead I find makes it easier to blend the foundation out and prevents a thick rim of foundation near my hair line, where as I can easily blend out the foundation on the rest of my face easier because there is more space to work with xxx
I love your videos because your the most similar to my complexion and face shape. I'm new to applying make however I buy so many tools and products but I'm stuck in using certain tools. like I said I'm new to appling make but I get nervous in trying new styles. I'm cautious with contouring, lip liner, lip sticks, eye shadows. when I see you applying all different colors and styles they look awesome on you. I'm in the corporate world and don't change my everyday style but you have really changed my mind with the different types of videos you have made it easier to transition. +Laura Dean For you and everyone who's having the matching issue: go to Sephora, and ask them to do the "Color IQ". It's basically a device they use to match ALL the foundations they carry to your NATURAL skin tone. I had it done two years ago after going to MAC and being given the WRONG shade THREE TIMES. They place the device on the center of your forehead, the jawline, and your collarbone. Then YOUR skintone is pulled up in a database of tone ranges and the foundations that best matches you will come up on the device. (If you have a (free) Sephora account, this will pop up in your account settings for future reference.) Since doing it, I've NEVER had an issue finding foundation that matched me. You DON'T have to pay for it, it's totally FREE. Just ask them for it. (If they give you attitude, ask someone else until you get it.) The "worst" issue I have anymore is whether or not I like the finish the foundation gives me, and in that case I can just switch to another brand of foundation and find my shade. I HIGHLY recommend it!

I have a question, you said that powdering dry skin will just highlight the dryness even more and I agree with that but what do you suggest to set foundation and any liquid products with? A setting spray? Thankyou in advance to you or anyone else that responds :) x
+Jackie Aina I remember in one video you once said never set your liquid foundation with powder, so would you recommend Mac MSF powders? I have a huge problem with my powders transferring when I don't set it lol. I usually like the look of not setting it, since I have dry skin. But it just always transfers.
