The makeup you applied was also the wrong shade even after mixing it with the darker contour shade. The better thing to do is to get makeup closest to your skin shade that has a yellow undertone. You’re likely looking grey cuz you’re wearing neutral or pink undertone makeup

Also we need to be sure about our undertones. If we use warm foundation for a pink undertone, it will definitely turn grey. Brown skins usually have warm undertones but always be very sure
