Watching this in 2019, Jeff's insight and spot on predictions of the future (the present day to us now) is absolutely amazing and is why he is the world's richest man. He had a 100% correct vision of the future and he planned for it way in advance and now Amazon is reaping the benefits of that incredible insight. Genius dude.
20:51 "For $139 why wouldn't you want a device like that?" Love my kindle but Amazon sells kindles for cheap because the device leads people to spend more money at Amazon. So you probably don't want the device if you find yourself already spending too much money at Amazon.
28:40 The antanae problem cemented me to never buying an Apple product EVER again. As much as I respect Jobs, but him saying that the customer is 'holding it wrong' should go down in history as the worst response made by a CEO OF ALL TIME.
Hello, I've a question I plan to buy Kindle keyboard for my studies but I need to be sure of 1- does it support MP3 and Audio playing ? 2- does it allow you to record the lectures to memorize them at him ? 3- does its speakers helpful to play external ? 4- is it suitable to link it to external speakers? I would highly appreciate any help and answers
if my place in the book is kept even if I move from a Kindle to a Blackberry---doesn't that raise questions about privacy and just what relationship do these various devices share?
@lars1968schenk It would be interesting to see how this is handled, because in their new Kindle Fire ad, it claims it uses a glass that has no glare while mocking the iPad's glare. We'll see how truthful that ad is though - I'm a bit skeptical you can have a glass screen with no glare at all in the sunlight.
"No capacitive touch screen" - then comes out with the Paperwhite. ""No ipad competitor" - then comes the Fire. "No Me too products"..... In 2019, we say, "You keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means."
Jay Vansickle seems like you missed the whole point. He said no capacitive touch because that would add an air gap in between that would cause glare. Obviously they figured out a way around that by laminating the display on the touch layer. You’re right about the fire though. And that’s because its not an original concept (it was a me too product). And your last point...
@@VikasSBhat I almost didn't respond, since this was two years ago....But....that is the same space between my original comment and yours :) So... the capacitive touch screen still adds a level that degrades clarity (as a whole). Except for the Voyage for some reason. That was the best screen ever. If you compare the Paperwhite to the Touch, or the Keyboard (in context here), there's a big difference in appearance. The text, although a lower resolution, looks better on the non touch or IR displays.
eBay and Amazon have different market place, eBay is about connecting people, while Amazon is about serving its customers. So, you're right about Amazon fucking small business.
Jeff, although I love you, you're a blatant hypocrite! you stated that you don't want to do a me too product but yet, Amazon released the Fire phone and tablet! I'll just give you the benefit of the doubt and believe you had a change of heart.
