The Fountaine Pajot Aura 51 hybrid catamaran and of course, the most complete review of the Aura 51 from the Fountaine Pajot shipyard are already on the Interparus channel. The Aura 51 (ex New 51) is a new 50 ft catamaran from Fountaine Pajot shipyard. Also, Aura 51 is the successor of the most popular ocean cruiser Saba 50 (Saba 50 catamaran by Fountaine Pajot shipyard) - also the Fountaine Pajot catamaran. Designers Olivier and Isabelle Rakuppo, while developing the Aura 51, took into account the advantages and disadvantages of the Saba 50 and created a sailing catamaran that is now becoming mega popular. And Fontaine Pajot experts figured out how to make the Aura 51 electric by supplying it with lithium-ferum polymer batteries, electric motors with a hydro generator function and 2 kW of solar panels, which makes this electric catamaran quite ready to go to sea.

Thank you for a great review. I appreciate the straight forward commentary. Having just spent 2 weeks on my friend's SABA i can see some of the similarities and some features I would miss. You are right the TV needs to move and where would the dishwasher go without being L shaped galley?

Thank you for your comment! Yes, Aura 51 is an evolutionary Saba 50, she develops this line and inherits many of its virtues.Dishwasher - without being L shaped galley - is a great question!

This electric boat will use more diesel to feed the batteries to power the "electric" engines than any catamaran that can actually sail well. Love the idea, but the technology still is not there yet to make this viable for anything other than a coastal cruiser. It is telling that no reviews provide any real-world data for how long a boat could motor into 15kt wind to get it off a lee shore in an emergency situation. Great party charter boat though for sure and it will sell like hotcakes!

@CryptoCrusader33 hey it’s a beautiful boat and if that’s your style then cool, go for it! But if you believe a 22 ton boat without dagger boards will perform even remotely as well as an performance cat of the same size that has a displacement of 11 tons you’re smoking some of that crypto lol! Anyway the technology will get there eventually to make this make sense, just not there yet.
