Just awesome!!! My first hobby R/C of 3 years finally was making the rattling sound and thank goodness I found your video!! It was the Spur Gear and motor gear slipping! I’ve re-aligned them together and it’s running fine! Thanks, again!!
Thanks...my sons Absima AB 3.4 was making a very nasty juddering noise...thanks to you it made me look at the spur gear and I found a tiny rock had become embedded into the plastic of the spur gear...quick penknife job and a lube with WD40..sorted!👍🏻🙂
This helped me a lot. I just spent 2 hours fixing my RC after months of no use, and the minute i put it back on the track it started making this weird noise. looks like i have to replace my spur gear!
I am new to the hobby grade RC game. I experienced my first nasty sound the other day bashing around in the back yard with the kiddo. After just saying f it and digging in, i found i stripped the spur gear. This video would have been hella helpful and i hope it finds more RC noobs BEFORE or after they experience these issues. thank you very much.
Well I probably just have sand or something in my trans or diff. It is more of a gritty noise. I just stopped running it and I am going to pull it apart tomorrow. Does bad bears make a gritty noise? I oiled them a little while ago but I have been running in snow. The bearings are at least 3 or 4 years old and are original bearing but in that time, I oiled them at least 5-8 times. I am just a numb but I understand how to fix a regular car so rc is fairly just gears and like you said, making sure everything runs smoothly. I really liked how you made the noises with the rc and now I know what noises to listen for. It shouldn't be a problem for me besides the spur gear, I know mine is getting worn and eventually it will go out. I may just put a new spur in and use the old as a backup.
great video sir. u just saved me some money and I went and checked the spur in my 4x4 slash and sure enough it's the spur gear.. no wonder seeing how in runnin the castle sidewinder 8th in it. which is a 8th scale brushless system on 4s. lol.. insane power. but was gonna go to hobby town USA today an buy all new tranny and diff gears.. and now I just need to buy a 10 dollar spur gear. just getting back into racing an fast rcs.. I mainly run my scalers. have a few wraith and scx10s.. and they all have steel spur gesrs.. may be what I do to this beast anyway thanks a ton for this helpful video
Thanks for the video, the fourth sound spur gear stripped, that’s what my car makes and the spur gear mesh and all are brand new and are not stripped, it seems like it’s coming from the diff. It’s on a traxxas slash 4x4 and it’s a bad noise. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you so much
its too bad for new guys that RC has died so much. when i was young, there was RC tracks all over, even in tiny nowhere towns. now that the Technology is so far advanced it would be that much more fun, but the tracks, clubs & shops are 95% gone. another thing the internet killed i guess. Even the local hobby shop in Western MA closed after like 30 years in business, i loved that place. i cant recall my first car, but i remember a hornet, & a lunch box, grasshopper, man its been a long time since then. god only knows how many Rotary speed controllers ive melted in my time :)
Need some help with my ftx ramraider, 3s brushless. I'm having problems with power getting to the ground, wheels partially spinning.. I've checked the diff screw, seems OK, gears look OK, from what I can see all looks OK, such a puzzle!
So when your spur gear is just now starting to go bad it will sound a little less severe than that right cuz the sound that I'm hearing is most similar to that last one that you did it's just not as severe
Hi, I’ve got the noise that sounds similar to the loose spur. But my Spur is tight. The noise is not there when I throttle the truck with free spinning wheels. But the sound is there then I throttle the truck with wheels on ground. I’ve replaced the main spur to a metal one and the sound is still there...The truck is a remo hobby Batman truck. Solid axle Monster truck
Hey man; maybe you have run to my problem. Runs fine, just started to make a clicking noise specifically when I go from back to forth a single click. Not sure what's wrong any tips? I have no experience taking it apart and dont want to mess with something else much less drive it to avoid further damage.
My axial scx 10 slammed into a tree and makes a quiet popping sound when pushed or ran on batteries the sound seems loudest at the transmission. Any idea what it is?
My New E-Firestorm ate my spur gear, but i managed to still use by adjusting the mesh. It sound bad but it will do until i get a new spur.. I just can figure out the perfect Slipper Clutch setting.
one noise that has pissed me off beyond no end with a gear diff i had to rebuild twice whenever i go through a corner and give it throttle it has a high pitched chirping so i bought the B-fast ball diff best thing i ever did
I have a question my truck is loud and does not wheelie right when I punch the throttle like it used to it takes longer now to hit high speed. What is the problem?
I have a thunder tiger MT4G3 and one of the differentials is stripped out. But I´m not sure if it´s the rear, center or front diff.... Any hint to figure it out? Great video dude!
Awesome, thanks for the videos... Now I know what each sound is.. A barking deep sound is Diff and a higher pitched squel is slipper got it now!!!! I was going in the wrong direction thinking it was always slipper...
i have the slash 2wd amd was wondering if you can like tighten the rod that the pinion is on becuase my pinion is tight on the rod but the rod is loose inside the engine & i don't know what to do with it
BeyondBr1aNn88 YT the differential allows one wheel to move slower than the other so you can turn easily. The slipper clutch lets the motor move without the car moving but only when you go full throttle to stop you from ruining your gears.
I just got a traxxas stampede for Christmas and I think the slipper clutch works like when I try to climb something like perhaps a stair and it won't move and it will kinda rev up. What's a slipper clutch for and what's it's purpose?
Good video. I am having trouble with my sc10.2, more specifically the ball diff. I have tried one gear diff built by an ex- team associated 1/2 sponsored driver, one 10.2 kit ball diff and two MIP ball diffs that were broke in and never ran on the track. First, let me say that I have had this truck for 3 months and never has ANY diff worked correctly. They have all been built to spec and were completely smooth when placed into the transmission case. Each time, a new idler gear, new ball bearings, new balls (both diff and thrust) and new rings were used. Each time, the ball diff would go straight and have zero noise but while turning, it would have a grinding sound. Again, it was broke in on the work bench before ever hitting any hard surface and then started at 50% EPA. I am pissed off, broke and lost. Any help would be much appreciated. If you have good information, please send me a private message on Facebook to Tony Dugan of Rutland, OH. Facebook has a picture of me and my wife. I am the big ugly one and she is the hot one.
question when I drive my truck it will drive but some times it will lock the back wheels up and make a grinding noise any thing that I could do to make it stop the grinding noise
What is wrong with the car if you give it gas but all you can hear is the fan maybe the engine turning? Idk how to describe it but it just makes a noise when giving it gas especially going backwards on light throttle... it still works but it's never made this noise before
