Amazing Norway, completely fascinates me whenever you go. If i have a chance i want to come back there again and again. Norwegians are so friendly too, that makes the Country more likeable. ❤️

Eastern Finnmark is actually pretty nice in the summer and winter. You visited it on the worst time, when all the plants had died, but no snow to replace it. When we get -20 degrees, the water in the air freezes, so it looks like the trees have snow leafs on em. Its also pretty when everything is green in the summer, + you get to experience the midnight sun!

Great shots of Norway! But it made me laugh when you were disappointed that there were "no Norwegians" on your trip... in very remote regions of Norway. This would be like a Norwegian making a travel video of the US, driving between between Tonopah and Rachel and saying "The US is really disappointing - no people and all desert" :)

A lot of tourists, especially japanese for some reason, visit us here in northern Norway in the middle of winter to see the aurora borealis. So, if you've never seen the aurora, this is the most comfortable place to see it. At least in my biased opinion :) Liked your video.

Travel to Finnmark during the summer, much better climate. Yes, the prices are high, but also consider how far it has to be transported and the cost of such. And it is not a secret that Norway is expensive so if you can't afford it, go somewhere else!

Yeah..i dare not compare farmed Beef jerky to Artic Norwegian Reindeer. These reindeer roam wild most of the year and have tons of artic herbs, various berrys, plants, etc etc to feed on, which gives these reindeer a special upmarket , yummy taste. I have tried it done in sooo many different ways.. absolutely yummy! Lets not forget the culinarry talent as well of norwegian chefs ..there's no country on planet earth thats won Bocus D . O. As many times as norway, their chefs really know how to intelligently cook the various artic offerings in a plethora of different ways, try them .

I love the video. We are starting to get our tickets for our November trip to Iceland and several places in Norway including Tromso. Very informative video! Turns out prices for places to stay actually work out for our group of 5 since it's pretty much the same price as for one person. We split the cost and it works out to about $50/night. I found the way to buy the airline tickets so our trip (via Iceland stopping in Scotland, London, Copenhagan and France along with Norway) is about $500 round trip airfare. Going to post videos about it once I get back but would really like to know what camera you filmed with? Trying to do the whole trip on the cheap (so I can help others manage it) and would love to hear you are just using your phone or something LOL but the footage is fantastic! How did you do it?

There are two ways to look at the prizes in Norway. They are high for you maybe, but did you see any Norwegian sleeping out in the streets? Did they look as they couldn't afford to buy stuff? Did they look sick, or like they couldn't afford to buy warm clothes. Maybe you didn't meet any Norwegians because you made your little journey in the middle of the week. People usually work, and most people have jobs. Jobs are well paid, and they don't have to buy expensive private health-insurances because they have tax based medicare 4 All. They take care of each other. Also they care about all people living in Norway. = No tribalism. A nation of very intelligent people. Their "nationalism" is a healthy kind of nationalism as in; they really love the nature, the way they can express their love to it, and they also love each other knowing that by not letting inequality creating too big fractions in society ( or do you say communities) they are stronger as a nation too. They know they are the best nation in the world to live in, so they don't have to, as loudly as possible brag it -to convince themselves they are. Like Americans do. So, it was sad you hadn't more time to spend so you could connect with people.

Ironic flying into Kirkenes, then driving 900km to Tromsø, then driving 900km back to Kirkenes, only to fly from there to Tromsø. In essence, you've covered that span at least 3 times.
@Kanakarhu
@Kanakarhu 8 лет назад
You missed Finland =( You should visit us sometime. You could drive 1 340 km next to Russian border. Tease them a bit =D BUT if you come here, come in summer time. Its way colder here than in Norway. Our food is simpler than Norwegian, and you should taste Fazer chocolate if you come here. And one more pro tip: buy food from Lidl brand stores, they are global chain so prices are cheaper. And The Most Important Thing:; Rent a DIESEL car next time you visit scandinavia! Almost always same rent price than gas car, but diesel is cheaper.
@qwerty_9922
@qwerty_9922 7 лет назад
Kanakarhu first off, Norway is more north . Norway's coldest temp ever recorded is -64 degrees Celsius, while in Finland it is -48 degrees Celsius lol
@PaJzh

they are around the same latitude, and finland is further away from the coast (gulf stream) so therefore finland is colder.

@IM-ry1yf

A quick check on Google gave the following: Norway's coldest temp. ever is −51.4 °C (−60.5 °F) in Karasjok, while Finland's coldest temp. ever is −51.5 °C (−60.7 °F) (Kittilä, 28 January 1999). However, these don't give an accurate picture of the temperatures in the area; in general, the temperatures in Finland are way colder than in Norway.
@exentr
@exentr 6 лет назад
I guess Finland is the colder place in general. Norway's climate is pretty mild due to the Mexico Gulf Stream which makes the Norwegian coast ice free in the winter. But in Norway you can't survive for long outdoors when the winter storms and blizzards comes. Norwegian arctic winter storms are killers. Strong wind on top of cold. It's cozy inside tho. You can just listen to the rage outdoors.

I depends on how you define "university". It looks like the Svalbard facility isn't one. Wikipedia: "Despite its name, it is not a university (a status that can only be conferred by the government under certain conditions to larger institutions), but a limited company involved in research and some university-level education."

Contrary to popular belief, Europeans (not him) friom a few earlier centuries never liked to live in frigid places all year long, and years in the northern reaches of the geographical Inuit areas of their countries where it's forever frigid and icy almost all the time. Only Eskimos / Inuits liked such places of those three countries and Imperial Russia all year long and all around the north pole actually from just north of the Arctic Circle. . During the time of Peter the Great, North Sweden and North Norway and North Finland exported or deported all their Inuit Eskimo populations living there 300 years ago or so, living around the Arctic Circle to Imperial Russia and north Russia and Siberian Russia, in exchange for money paid to Imperial Russia. This was how Sweden the other two countries got rid of their Inuit populations and Eskimo populations about 300 years ago, in exchange for money. They were exported to Imperial Russia in exchange for money. The Eskimos were replaced by whites with a Nomadic lifestyle in North sweden and Norway and North Finland in places closer to the North Pole. I forgot the name of that ethnic group, like Sami white Inuits or white Eskimos, which had a similar lifestyle to Inuits. Like Inuits, the Sami white tribes likes fish and reindeer meat. All Inuits / Eskimos of North Sweden and North Finland and north Norway were deported to Imperial Russia in exchange for money paid to Imperial Russia about 300 years ago.
