For those watching in 2020, I scrolled through the comments and found she used 3-4 TBSP marshmallow root and 2 TBSP of slippery elm.

I tried the acv, olive oil and aloe Vera juice. The slip I got from this was AMAZING! Last night my hair was SUPER TANGLED. I definitely missed some sections but on the sections that got it…. The hair was so smooth. I will be using it going forward using smaller sections. I had no frizz. WINNING.

I'm struggling right now to get out soon very matted tangle mods that's why I'm looking for a homemade product something very very easy and cheap nothing's better than homemade if you can find it

I want to know has anybody ever tried Metamucil Grant's on the hair because it is mucilage and very slippery I got the idea that it might remove jingles tangles
@janaprocella8268

I also thought of using WD-40 spray due to the fact that it has a silicone and we'll make it slippery becoming tangles out

TRYING ALL FOUR OF THESE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! -From a very curly, kinky, bird's nest crowned girl who loses tons of hair every day because of knots and has to take scissors in the shower to detangle and her hair because every single strand is in a knot, and who should be bald by now from all of the knots but somehow still has a lot of hair but who wants it to be a lot longer but the knots have sabotaged that. THANK YOU.

@unabashed
@unabashed 8 лет назад
christine1962ful I would like to know more about that. I am still learning so much. I haven't done anything right with my hair for my entire life, and even in these past 7 years relaxer free (I used to get them like once or twice a year, not every year, but still would cave in and do it for the added manageability and I would flat iron my hair every week anyway...rarely wore it curly), I haven't come that far in my knowledge of what to do to really care for my care. I literally just learned a few months ago how to care for my scalp...my whole life, never paid attention to it. I am lucky to still have so much hair (not nearly as much as I used to though, with all of the tangles and resulting hair loss), but I feel like it would have been down to my ankles right now had I figured out how to treat it! I will definitely look into those things you mentioned. Thank you!
@brsugarbabe
@brsugarbabe 8 лет назад
The best thing you could do right now is get a professional trim. A lot of single strand knits is an indication that you need a trim. Otherwise your hair is going to break off. You then have to focus on low manipulation styles and moisturizing your hair. Try also prepooing your hair prior to washing. Makes a big difference in the detangling process.

I have finally found THE recipe that was a miracle for my hair that was so matted that I thought about grabbing my scissors and chopping. I used the first recipe with Shea oil and squeezed a lecithin gel cap in to emulsify. I now understand slip, and what it means to see the knots release their hold on each other and unlock.

My goal is 30 however I didn't trim my ends before I started my journey. So today I'm putting it in a protective style Box braids when I take them down in 2 weeks I'll trim and update. I can attest to using slippery elm and marshmallow root ! I use it as a leave in each week and... it makes your hair super soft!! And my mother suffer from hair loss (its thin in the middle) and I use it on her hair and it does make it grow!
@lisajenkins7692
@lisajenkins7692 3 года назад
@Amehad Studies well I don't really measure but 2 -3 tablespoons or so of each ingredient (flax seeds, slippery elm and marshmallow root) in 2-3 cups of water. Boil until thick (15 min or so) and strain. Works wonders! Refrigerate it and it should last for about a week or so. And I use it to refresh my curls during the week also by putting it in a spray bottle and spraying it on and retwisting/braiding.

i also use sancha ichii oil as a sealant. It's non-greasy and my hair is a fine texture.

marshmallow root lowers blood sugar by ingestion. I would think it is safe for diabetics because of this reason. Also marshmallow root is really good for health. if you have any doubts about it, contact your doctor and let him know what you are doing to your hair.

I know this is an old comment, but for those still looking in 2018, there are diabetics with hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) who would need to be careful of substances that would further lower blood sugar. Not all diabetics are hyperglycemic (have high blood sugar).

I have found THE MOST AMAZING RECIPES on your channel and I have had great success except with this one I went out and bought marshmallow root yesterday and I boiled it up as you suggested and not one drop of mucilage from the solution I tried it three times and without success. In order not to waste the mixture I strained the liquid and put it on my bushy hair and I was very disappointed I did not have the results I expected. Al of your other tips and tricks have worked. In south Africa where I was born and live things are really expensive and I was so exited to try your Shea butter mix its delectable and such an indulgence I hope I will have better success there. I am not going to give up on this detangler because as a science teacher I know experiments improve as you try and try again and with every failure you ultimately end up learning more and success is inevitable. My hair is growing exponentially and my hair is healthier than its ever been but I loose a lot of length and hair from tangles and knots and I am super frustrated
@christine1962ful
@christine1962ful 8 лет назад
i know what you mean about getting no mucilage. i have purchased MMR in the past expecting a really gooey solution and it was runny with a slight slip to it so was disappointed. Need to figure out if i boiled too hard? maybe simmer instead? or try another supplier...
@colettewarren7129
@colettewarren7129 8 лет назад
i have decided to research suppliers it could be that not all marshmallow root herbs are equal. It could be that the mucilage depends on several factors as it is a root. So the ground availability of nourishment. I do believe that this batch I have will still have of the properties and some of the other nutritional benefits. Thank you for replying I am feeling much better knowing I am not alone in this dilemma and I will not stress.

The reason for the musallage not conning out is that the manufacturer takes it out sometimes to make a longer shelf life for the product. Look for marshmallow root untampered with.

Normally it which would take me 20 minutes and it was a nightmare. Having the two mix with the conditioner it took me 5 minutes. I am absolutely shocked. My daughter's hair is thick, long and curly it takes her 30-60 minutes to detangle her hair. When I added the concoction with her conditioner it took her 30 minutes to detangle her hair. You are gorgeous. Thank you for the tips. My daughter has hair down past her butt and it's fine and tangles and matts like Velcro. I go crazy trying to detangle it. I'm going to try these.

I can't seem to get all the little specks out of mine if I use the powder for the slippery elm. It looks like pepper. How about yours? I like mine really thick but if you boil if for only 7 minutes it will stain very easily without squeezing.

Athena Padilla I use slippery elm root instead. You can find on amazon

I am a new subscriber and I did not know that marshmallow had such slip to it. Questions: 1. How long will a bottle last before spoiling, please? 2. Is there any natural preservative that you would recommend, please? I would like to make sufficient to last me for more than one use. Thanks so much

The comb you use does matter . Use a comb like the denim brush and detangling becomes so easy and almost effortless.

Great and very informative video, with the remaining slippery elm and marshmallow root mix, do you store that in the fridge?

Cannot wait to try these ahhh! Can you by any chance think of any high street stores that may have the marshmallow and elm (I live in Peckham)? Also how long would the detanglers containing these ingredient last, do they need to be refrigerated?

Also used as a preepoo also the cider vinegar as the prepoo. Thanku sooo much for these homemade recipe. I love ur channel !!
