I’m with you on this mate, about to receive my new black R1250R, I ordered it with the standard exhaust because I don’t like the look of the Akra. What made a huge difference on my 2009 R1200R was adding Arrow headers to the factory-fitted Akra can. Felt and sounded like a different bike. UPDATE: I now have my 2023 R1250R triple black, I put an Arrow muffler on it, sounds good and runs well. Video over on my channel.

I put the OEM and Akrapovic exhaust time stamps for comparison. I left out the 2 exhausts without the dB killer. I did this for my own benefit because I ordered the 2023 r1250r with the Akrapovic. In Australia, the Akrapovic is $1700 if you buy it as an aftermarket item!! But if you purchase it pre- fitted by BMW, it is $400 cheaper. I'd say this sounds great! Lovely bass and raspy top end. Really brings out that boxer sound in my opinion. Which is either a good or bad thing depending on your preference, but I think you like it. What I really enjoy about the factory Akrapovic on my previous gen R is all the pops and burbles on decelerations and downshifts when the throttle map is in Dynamic mode. It's very talkative and stupidly fun. Love blipping down with the quickshifter all the way down to 1st before a hairpin corner and hear the exhaust scream and gurgle. And the nice thing is, in Road mode, the pops and crackles all but disappear, making the ride more gentlemanly for in town if I feel like it. Now I am no hooligan, but mostly I don't feel like turning off the pops, they are just so much fun. What's your experience with the different cans, but especially this one when it comes to deceleration and aggressive downshifts with the quickshifter?

Pick my 1250r up today wish I'd spect it up with a akrapovic in the configurator, when I asked my BM dealer to get me one in they told me can only get the brushed as the black was only for the American market,?? have ordered the black one elsewhere just for looks I'm lucky enough to be buying this as a second bike and I consider this as just a proper little retro bike with all the bells as I'm an older git wonder if your next bike should perhaps be a s1000r or a touno as you do love to push on with the R😅 been following you since you have had yours been been good watching👍

7:15 - I noticed the same added vibration and less smooth with the Arrow one on… only had it a day so going to use your test scores as a comparison (and I’m fully loaded for now which doesn’t help lol).

WOW !! You've done a lot of work on this exhaust problem. All these vid's u've made. I like that black one at the end. So is that the end or R U going to keep looking? U must have saved some guy's hour's of work.

The Akrapovic adds a boost of 5.4 horsepower and 4.7 NM of torque both at 3650 rpm which I think is fantastic.

All sound good, but my final dilemma would be to pick between Akra and Leo. Enjoyable video. Keep it up Rikky.

Thanks for the video. Doesnt seem to be much in it so ill keep my RS standard. Dunno how you managed to fit the shad mount like that on the exhaust bracket. Maybe the R is a little different to the RS or Shad have improved the mount. Cheers

How easy is that Akrapovic to fit and secure? Would really like to *finally* get that same one (since the brushed titanium is apparently no more) on my R1250R this summer. I’ve never bothered with aftermarket slip-ons on any of my other bikes, though, so not clear on what the difficulty level is for those of us who don’t do much wrenching.

Another great video . Appreciate your time to remove and install 4 exhausts and record in one day. The bike may have felt a bit lumpy but possibly, the ECU adjusted , hence why it may seemed smoother at the end of the ride? Akra. looks and sounds fantastic, Maybe consider a possible remap? If you do, consider contacting either JCT 33 Developments and/or Crowe Performance who maybe able to advise. Enjoy your Akra. burble.👍🏍

I’ve put the Unit Garage end can on my R1250R , had it the black widow Decat pipes and had it tuned , pulls like a train 👍, looks great though in Black Ricky

Hi Rikky, Thanks for all your vids on the r1250r. Did you notice any differences in power between the exhausts, i am thinking of buying either a Dominator titanium or a Remus. But not sure if there will be any disadvantages in putting a non oem exhaust on. Thanks again & all the best. Gary

Just bought 23 R1250RS and ordered Arrow slip on. II would imagine decatted headers would help a lot but need remapping ECU.

Interesting I liked the SB but then heard that LeoVince Rikky and thought it actually sounds better which was a surprise to me . Akrapovic hmm not quite for me if it was mine I would be going with that LeoVince for looks and sound if it didn't effect the performance and I would have no noise guilt with that one either 😁👌👍

For me the Akro and the standard silencer sound the best personal opinion of course…..the other two more so without the db killers fitted don’t suit the bike.

Akra's not the pretiest I guess but it's also not awful looking either by any means. Plus t's a quality product with a nice little power & torque bump too so you can't go wrong really.

Too bad there’s not a way to compare the sound while on or beside a bike and what the same thing sounds like coming out of a half inch iPad speaker.
