In this video, I make use of my new studio space to give you the quick and dirty about Honda's new 2023 CRF300LS. Lemme know your thoughts about this new model in the comments!
I was visiting Cebu, Philippines on July’23. Wandering into a Honda dealership that happened to be next door to the condo tower I was staying, I found a ‘23 CRF300 Rally. Being a off-roader, I wanted the regular dual-sport. I knew the bikes were rare so I impulse bought it. My California🇺🇸bikes are KTMs 500 and 890 and at 5’7”, I single-toe it. The Rally is the perfect bike for living part time in the Philippines🇵🇭. I’ll be single-toeing it there too 😅
Nice t-shirt! I am a 5'6" guy looking to get into dual-sport riding. I ride mountain bikes, but haven't ridden motorcycles at all, so I have a lot to learn. I am thinking about either a CRF300LS or a Yamaha XT250. But have to work out some financials first - a new bike is a stretch financially, but i am not seeing many used XT250's for sale here in Colorado and most are asking near new bike prices, so its a bit of a challenge to get started. Thanks for the video!
XT250s are pretty well loved by those I've talked to who have owned them. Good luck finding anything new from Honda right now though... The wait lists are crazy and the delivery of units is insanely scarce. You'll have to follow-up and lemme know what you end up buying, good luck!
Greetings, As always another brilliant detailed video production 🇺🇲🍾🎉🇺🇲 Do you know if the rear shock is shorter? Thank you so much for assisting me and keep producing more videos. Note: if it's i will install in my new crf300 regular.
Front and rear have to be lower or raised together to keep the telemetry or whatever science word for functional usage the same. Math and stuff. 😆😆 So I'd guess that the rear shock is also smaller/shorter, yeah.
I’m short. And I was intimidated by the seat height. Especially since I wanted the Rally version. But after putting the first 500 miles on the bike, i grew right into it. I mean, I didn’t actually grow, but I became very comfortable riding it. Honda is waiting on a bunch of instrument clusters. They have hundreds of 300l and Rallys just sitting around, but because they have no digital instrument panels for them, they can’t ship them out. Isn’t that crazy...
Good vid, short and on point! I have a question if you dont mind please. You said they lowered the rear suspension 1.2 inches and fork spring 0.9 inches. How does that lower the seat height by 2 inches? Isnt the rear suspension only responsible for the seat height? I thought you have to lower the suspension front and back the same amount to not mess with the geometry and handling. What do i miss here? Thanks!
I can tell you what I know... but I can't explain the dynamics, ha. I'd guess adjusting those heights does something with the geometry of the bike? Maybe it turns out they pulled some foam out of the seat as well? Honestly I hadn't thought of that... I was just passing along the initial specs as we knew them.
@@TallManMoto 😂. That's exactly my experience too, but all I saw was a bunch of Rally's all goober'd out for adventure mode used. I did put a LS seat though on my standard L. Returned a seat concepts seat, it sucked. I thought the black seat looked pretty legit on the L's.
@@TallManMoto The workmanship on the seat concept seat I received was horrible. It was all wrinkled with creases & big gaps on the right side and the foam underneath was defective and deformed. For over $300 it did not feel or look custom. Took pictures had to mail it back on my dime $60. Seat concepts called me 2 weeks later after receiving return seat and acknowledged the issues I had with my seat. They said they're having issues the 300l's and as far as a replacement they said "they don't know when they can produce another seat". 🙄😒 I was forced to get a refund. I feel like they were lying to me. I could tell they did not want me to receive a new seat & were real vague on the time frame of replacement, said they were waiting on some replacement parts for machinery & a 300L for test fitting. They could have just gave me a refund without that elaborate lie. Supposedly they're supposed to call me back when they're ready and I can purchase again 😂. Obviously a lie cuz it's still for sale on website & new videos of seat concepts on 300l's.
Agreed! I tried to get a CRF 300L rally last year as a new bike and basically got laughed at by the three dealers I contacted in western WA. So used KLR it was.
It's really frustrating to see Honda marketing new variants of bikes when they aren't supplying what they already have, and to commit to supply a month after an announcement??? No way. We'll see what happens though. How are you liking the KLR offroad??
@@TallManMoto It’s a KLR. It’s a 2015, and is under sprung for my weight, but I don’t want to dump a bunch of money into it. I’m on the fence about selling it and getting something nicer ahead of the Giant Loop Ride. But it’s a KLR, and frankly it’s a more capable off road bike than I am a rider. We’ll see!
You make some great points. Why advertise a model if there are none to buy? Seems Honda has failed their customer base. They make a great bike you can’t actually buy. That’s stupid
