My main amp for about 7 years now! It’s been a workhorse live and in studio. The other Bogner I like best is the 20th XTC el34. I’ve had it for just a few months and loving that one as well. Definitely worth a try if you havent already
I had the XTC 20th EL34 and it was a wonderful amp. I kind of regret selling it, but it had a lot of overlap with my other amps. Absolutely great, though. My favorite version of the XTC by far. Even better than the Pandora!
Owned one for 6-7 yrs Many other amps have come and gone Wizard , Friedman , old super bass to name a few .. Percussive is the right word and you explain it well I’ve recently seen a mod on the clean to hot channel which could suit the negatives you mentioned I disagree on the Eq .. eq off is the best mode live ..through the fold backs with the right set up the amp sings like nothing else . It’s also the best mode with a nice klon or solodallas boost for old ac dc . You just got spend time with it there is so much in there . I don’t run anything hotter than a 8.4 paf style humbucker and don’t have the clean up issue you mentioned ? Interesting those other amps you mentioned clean up with hotter pick ups better . I owned a Helios 100 that was modded to switch from plexi Chan 1 to hot channel 2. Really not sure why they didn’t figure that one out from the factory. I also had the Helios 50 at one point. Really does do 4 distinct tones all REALLY well…unlike say the mark V which does 1 or 2 great and the rest of the channels/modes are lacking. And yes sounds more Marshall than some of my other Marshalls. I actually just sold mine on reverb just time for something new
I did a Custom Team Build through Sweetwater and used this as a base model (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1DZ963G3dPM.html), including the vintage Michigan mahogany body, then customized the specs to what I wanted. It was $7000 by the time all was said and done. Not my best "value guitar" to be sure; but ,an incredible axe that looks and sounds like no other Strat out there. I'm happy with it! PS - Get 22 frets!
