With all due respect, I cross the arctic circle several times/year with a basically stock Silverado and a Raven (I threw on some airbags and some E-rated tires, but that's about it). I live in interior Alaska and get around some, and the truck isn't going to make anybody say "Wow" or even "nice rig" but it does the job really well and carries me and the camper to some great fishing/camping/adventures. The main reason I'm commenting is that people shouldn't feel like they absolutely need to drop a bundle on a fancy bumper and winch and wheels and all that stuff to be able to have some really terrific adventures up here. That's a beautiful build but it's a choice, not a necessity.

I wonder just how much this all costs. From start to finish? Labor and All materials? Looks amazing and tough for sure. I seen this type of buildout on a TRD "Offroad" to make it more capable and it begs the question, why is the truck trim even called "Offroad?"

Nice build, still working on mine. One thing I think that is really important and sometimes overlooked is upgrading the front brakes to handle the new weight load. I replaced my with a power brake kit and feel a lot safer now with stopping in an emergency or when descending steep grades. Other than that, great build!

@@ScottWalkerScEdD I bought the Stage one Power Brake kit. Bigger rotors and 6 piston calipers. It’s pretty pricey but if your already spending $$$ on truck, camper, etc.. it’s well worth it for safety. Look them up, they are leaders in the industry.

I don’t know what it is but I love to watch Tacoma conversion videos for my future upgrades. The one man Mule Team was so smooth! The Four WheeI Camper install was fun to watch too. I have the 2020 4x4 TRD Sport version of this truck design. Running Yakima bed racks and rails, Retrax Tonneau Cover and a Falcon XL RTT. I appreciate my super fun set up, for me. Still, though, always dreaming about my Fleet and envisioning how to support the weight…and my wait for future upgrades.

I do not see a big issue with the brakes stoping the Tacoma. I have pulled many times a trailer loaded with 2.5 tons of gravel and it stops with no problem. What would the issue be with a one ton load?

Though its a nice build, you don't need all that was put on this Taco to have a great time. I've been off-roading for quite a few years (Jeep) and all you need is a good set of M/T's and a hi-lift jack. I have a Taco as well and have been looking at what do I really need for over-landing - turns-out not much - M/T's or A/T's, hi-lift jack (can be used as a wench in time of need with some recovery gear), maybe a bed cover to keep stuff dry, free from dust/dirt, and secure. Everything else is just your typical camping gear. I was going down the path of this build, but discovered it was nothing more than an excuse that stopped me from getting out there and having fun. Go have fun with your kids and don't let all this nice to have stuff stop you.

I have to 100% agree with a few of the comments below; there is little to no need for all of this. None of this is a "light" upgrade. You buy a new Taco and then turn around and think you have to drop 20K into the doggone thing to get it to do anything and that is absolutely wrong. I bought a new '21 and I swapped out the rims and tires; it already comes with a Bilstein suspension. Since I don't plan on towing anything more than an ATV, I do not see the need to change it. Short of rock crawling, I can still get everywhere I want to get to. Add a bed rack, an RTT and a winch and you're in business. Basics. And the basics don't need to cost 20K either. I really want to give this vid a thumbs up cause that is a really nice rig, but I just can't. The normal person may be able to afford the Taco, but the upgrades? Yeah, no. Nice dream rig.
@FourWheelCampers
@FourWheelCampers Год назад
Thank you for your comments. We agree, for most people and most applications, the outfitting done on this rig was overkill. However, this is a show and demo truck. We overbuilt it to ensure all of the people roughing it up on very challenging terrain, on demo trips, experienced zero difficulties. This build is beyond what 90% of our customers have done to their trucks to make them compatible with our campers and provide years of wonderful adventures! All the best to you and your travels!

@@gregflores8959 You must be young. With ' before a number, it normally denotes a year; as in 2021, for example. With a ' after a number, that is understood to be a measurement, as in 21 feet. Your comment is flawed.

@danwelty3826 Год назад
Hi and thank you for thinking of us. The suspension upgrading on this truck is substantial and more than you will typically find in 95% of the Tacoma's with our campers. The suspension in this video can handle 1500+lbs and significantly challenging off-road terrain. Most of our Tacoma owners campers are in the 1,150 - 1,350lb range. I hope this helps.
@mattdaniel2395
@mattdaniel2395 Год назад
Whats the payload capacity on the limited. Mine is only 950 pounds. Is this enough for a swift model?
@FourWheelCampers
@FourWheelCampers Год назад
I think the number is about 1,050 - 1,100lbs. This is prior to transitioning to "E" rated tires and a suspension upgrade. The SWIFT weighs about 75 - 100lbs less than the FLEET - which is the model in this video. The SWIFT weight range is 1,000 - 1,300lbs. Have a great evening!

Money can’t buy happiness but it can build a 4 wheel camper nice enough to drive up right next to it😂 For all the crybabies whining like little biches go away there are lots of flower arrangement videos for you to watch while your mommy makes you a pb&j sandwich. this is the long bed and it appears the new tires they choose 285/70/17 is a 33" tire which will fit underneath the bed of the truck. where you put your spare whether it fits or not is upto you
