watch the abc interview the guys say themselves they were in there longer than 2 minutes.... and how long they were in there is irrelevent. they told the manager that they were not buying anything.. most businesses have the same policy of kicking out people who dont buy anything
It's disgusting to ask someone to leave your place of business because your decision is arbitrary. I sit and wait in restaurants until my date arrives all the time. America is a backward country
Jay 09 imagine if ever business in blue states refused to service any trump supporters. We would be on the brink of civil war. Alelea your comment is so ignorant how do you know there making there comment from America dumbass.
Quanell, is a sharped dressed Atom Bomb that leaves all of his opponent's skin detached from their bones. Starbucks is the new "Dennys" for Black People.
When police officers put on that uniform all common sense goes out the window. They didn't do anything wrong under the law but they should have tried to talk to the Starbucks employees and explained the situation
How do you know they didn't talk to the Starbucks employees? Why do you assume they forgot to do something so basic? It's like saying, before the surgeon does surgery, he must first wash his hands. All cops, talk to the other party before making a decision, they do it thousands of times a year on every single radio call.
ps 678 they refused to purchase something from Starbucks and they were told to leave they refused to leave and that's when the police were called do your research before you come on here and scream racism
No one ever said it was Racial Profiling, it was definitely profiling, but people get profiled every second of every day over all kinds of things. But if these to men were white men and were asked to leave for loitering or something else then "no one" would point a finger and say it was Racially motivated..
I want to think Quanell's opponent is acting. He can't really be this damn serious about what this issue. because after all this evidence they will still find an excuse to condemn a brotha
First of all these 2 black men came and sat down and with in 2 minutes were arrested and if they were coming to do something they would not have sat down,a robber would have robbed the place and ran off in 2 minutes instead of sitting down.
How many times do people go into a restaurant and sit but don’t order right away because they’re waiting on a third party? How many times does it take for people to realize - you DON’T have ANY rights to discriminate on ANY basis, which INCLUDES refusal to service anyone UNESS they are causing disruption or breaking the law. Trespassing is when you don’t have a right to be somewhere that is PRIVATELY OWNED. Starbucks is a “public” place and that’s why the 3 men were released. Police have a right to arrest and hold you for upto 26 hours and not charge you, they do that, when they’re being embarrassed and want to look like they have authority over a person. When the cops asked them to leave and they refused, that’s when the cops felt powerless so they show their power by taking them to jail for that upto 26 hour period. The cops didn’t help but they are not at fault. It’s a situation where the manager needs to be fired and “then” the CEO can have a sit down, because there’s NOTHING TO TALK ABOIT UNTIL THAT ESTABLISHMENT TAKES A STAND AGAINST THE RACISM OF THAT MANAGER. Simple.
this is different. they told the manager "i we brung our own water" which implies they were not going to purchase something. they didnt say "we are waiting for someone". HUGE difference its not racist. the manager thought they werent buying anything so she kicked them out. they need that space to make money. its a business
First of all, The police did not have a reason to handcuff the two real estate brokers and escorts them out of SB. The men were not arrested. The police simply ask what they were doing there, the police listened and continued to ask questions which these two men answered. When the second squad came in, that situation turned restless. The officer then put the cuffs on without questioning the manager. Therefore, that situation became racially motivated because the officer judged the men without getting all sides of the reason manager called in the first place. Second. Had the customers not been in SB, the two men would've had No witnesses. More police than customers, certainly might ve become violent and bloody violent! As most of these racially profiled police attacks/ murders, sadly seem to end. The outnumbered darkskinned male (s) are shot to death instead of cuffed, wrestled to the ground, etc, etc, so on and so on and so on.... Three. Had Melissa D not started recording with her phone, calmly questioning the officer cuffing these two mothers sons, fathers, church going, possibly coaches for teenagers, might ve been sorely missed by their families, communties forever! Bless you Melissa D!! You are our Hero!💖 Four. It also appears to US that police begin randomly murdering darkskinned men across the country. The pattern seems to be, @ est, about 4 murders of dark-skinned men per year! The killings seem to start and stop, every 3 to 6 months. We would want to know just how many lawful police murders (we say lawful due to the facts that the judges keep allowing these police their freedom), are commited while innocent darkskinned men go unreported? Last, to that little frog-mouth "white" guy who doesn't seem to listen without interrupting, we would like him to understand that a business isn't private on a public street with permits, taxes to the curb, public bathrooms, corporate policies, city and state safety c codes, taxes on building, state health permits, zoning laws, state or city labor laws and rules. Visible signage that states, IF YOU ARE DARKSKINNED PEOPLE AND WE DON'T LIKE YOUR LOOKS OR YOU DON'T ORDER RIGHT AWAY OR YOU APPEAR TO BE UPPITY TO US OR FOR WHATEVER OUR REASONS, WHEN WE WILL TELL YOU TO LEAVE, WE WILL ORDER YOU OFF/OUT OF OUR BUSINESSES/PREMISES ONLY ONCE and ONE TIME ONLY. THEN WE WILL CALL THE POLICE TO TAKE YOU OUT/ OFF OUR PUBLIC PREMISES.. TO LIGHTSKINNED PEOPLE, PRIVATE BUSINESS PREMESES TO DARKSKINNED PEOPLE, . UNDER THE STATE LAWS OF WHITE IS RIKE!!
I agree private businesses should have the right to choose NOT do business with anyone, however, according to the law of the land it's unconstitutional.
alex krasnic Trespassing means being on property without permission. Starbucks is an accessible coffee shop for the public. So again, can anybody tell me HOW they weren't falsely arrested?
he said racia lprofiling is outrageous. calling the cops was fine because the men were not buying anything, not because they were black. white guy got kicked out of starbucks 2 weeks ago for same reason. dont let race baiters trick you
One of the biggest issue, in the black community, is we don't get upset until something happen to someone we care about. What happen to those men is wrong. If your business has problem with certain features that person may display. It should be recognizable before me and my people enter your establishment.
Come on! 2min and the cops talking to you! Please!! When you tell the people you waiting for other friends to show up and they still Harassing to buy something.. you have rules and regulations then put it on the wall then!
Starbucks should have signs says : No loitering, no waiting on people, No Wi-Fi and no bathroom unless you make a purchase, and we have the right to refuse service to anyone." No such thing exist.
He’s wrong. It’s not unconstitutional for a private business to deny service to anyone. In fact it’s their constitutional right as a private business to do so. We don’t have the right to demand service of a business. If I have a business I don’t owe you service...now, that’s bad for business. I should want to serve everyone, it means more $$$...and it’s the right thing to do morally. But by law, a private business can deny service to anyone. Imagine, a Jewish Baker is forced to bake Nazi cakes for their convention and deliver it and possibly serve. The black Baker has to bake cakes for a KKK reunión and serve them while the “N” word flies around. We need to be very careful about allowing big government to impose too many restrictions on the private sector.
When an restaurant associate does want to serve an cop coffee and donuts, And the cop runs to an police chief , the media or police union, They'd want the employee terminated. (Double Standard ⁉️)
Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title II, "Outlawed discrimination based on race, color, religion or national origin in hotels, motels, restaurants, theaters, and all other public accommodations engaged in interstate commerce; exempted private clubs without defining the term "private"." It is literally a federal offense to discriminate in an establishment whether consumer, potential consumer, employee or employer.
Quanell X is right and exact that it was discrimination on the other hand I don’t understand how the CEO of Starbucks decided to close the business for a whole day which is a loss in millions of dollars in revenue when they are money conscious for sensitivity training for employees that are paranoid and racists
Here's a man who wants to move backwards, they were falsely arrested..... plain and simple! Now maybe the manager thought these guys looked suspicious, but remember....looking suspicious is no a crime. This manager had a negative perception of these two people, but I think simply because they refused to make a purchase... she felt her authority was being challenged. Many people sit in Starbucks, it's a coffeehouse social club, but recent studies have shown as usual; that people of color are viewed differently by some whites......not all whites . I meet good people in Starbucks, white, black, Asian, and Hispanic.
It’s Starbucks rules. A black woman told me to buy something to use the restroom and I said ok “small hot chocolate with whip cream” simple! I’m Mexican-American. I know any company would say buy something or no bathroom😂
Private business can refuse service to any person for any reason, but not against ppl of a protected class, however if you a place of business especially a private business does discriminate you cannot sue anymore now thanks to Trump and that's why I voted for him, 'cause I am sick and tired of private business owners being sued, 'cause they refused service to ppl.
That guy is a lair, or a fool. Only two men were arrested. They refused to buy anything and refused to leave. The manager asked them to leave several times and the police asked them to leave several times. They were not just up and arrested.
It's real easy to say that the "Private Market Place" should be able to decide who should and should not be allowed service when it's not you being judged. Bet money if they decided not to serve him he'd be screaming reverse racist at the top of his lungs.
I am not prejudice against anyone's color, but I wonder ' for the people thats standing behind this kind of treatment from Starbucks toward theses Africa American men ' if this had been a African American store and they did the same to some white male's what would they say . 🤔
Freedom works. Businesses should have the right to refuse service to ANY customer for any reason (assuming there are no contract violations). At the same time ANYONE has the right to protest the business...call channel 6 news and complain that someone is a "racist" or whatever. That's the way freedom works.
This white host can't hide his true colors, I would like to see him being kicked out of a place because the manager didn't like the way he looks and then come up with this nonsense!
If I do not want you in my business for any reason and ask you to leave you will leave or get arrested for trespassing. You can argue all day long that the manager was wrong in asking them to leave and have a valid point but once asked to leave they should have left.
If you do that then black people wouldn't be able to eat anywhere! No, I don't agree with that decision at all! And I totally agree with you, brother! If the CEO,. doesn't fire that manager, then there's no meeting!
If i walked into a restaurant or coffee shop with one of my friends and just sat there shooting the breeze no doubt i would be asked to order something or leave, and im white. There is no loitering in many of these establishments. If these men told the manager they were waiting on a friend then i wonder if there was a timing issue. It has been stated that tje 3rd person these men were waiting for showed up AFTER the cops did so this tells me they were waiting for a while Because it took time for them to arrive, then more time for the manager to notice they didnt order, then more time for the manager to confront them and ask them to order or leave, then more time for the manager to call police, then more time for police to arrive, then the 3rd friend show up. Seems they may have been loitering for a while. My question is why did these two men not order something simple like a coffee while they wait to keep the peace? Were they not given the opportunity to? Were these men being confrontational as well? Did they immediately pull the race card, causing a scene, on the manager who may have only been asking for no loitering in her store? After all that is a policy among many establishments.
