• Fox Podium shocks leak...
show the method to disassemble and service a fox podium X shock. this was done to change a seal that was leaking.
note that in te video I turn the seal around as unsure. please note that the one side of the seal must point towards the oil. use 170 to 200lbs pressure to prevent leakage when recharging.
ensure you watch this 2nd video for seal info

The lips always go towards what you’re trying to keep out. Example: dust seal, you’d want the lip facing the dust (outside) Oil seal, you’d want the lips facing inside, towards the oil. Always towards the thing you’re keeping away from another.

Agreed. This was a really interesting seal. It has a lip on both ends. After it leaked when installed the correct way...I tried reversing it since there was a lip on that side also but single sided. Since that rebuild I figured why the shock kept leaking. There was a very tiny score mark on the inside of the seal head/ bearing. The seal could not keep oil from passing that tiny 1/1000 mark. I ended up using 400 and 800 sandpaper over an hour and removed the mark...voila...no more leak !

Every video I've seen about rebuilding shocks the one thing nobody ever talks about is how much oil is to be used, what's the capacity?

I didnt actually measure the oil capacity but if I had to guess I would say probably 500 to 600ml for my fox podium x 2.0

So after rebuilding and investigating and talking to some experts at Schmidty Racing... I had the seal in correctly the first time. See video below to see how these new seals actually seal the shock and require pressure for a proper seal ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TysxLv7bhTw.htmlsi=Yhk03ZUKPntHqLA3

I’m pretty sure these are podium qs3 performance series. I have the exact same machine. Podium x are a bit different.

Actually they are podium x. Can go online to polaris parts for my machine and they are listed. Mine is the XC900

@@ontariooutdoorsman I have seen that on the Polaris website but ran into major issue while looking for parts kits, however: Fox Racing Official Website (utv shock finder tool, you can google that to find a link) 2015 Polaris 900 XC Podium Performance series 2.0 qs3 … front and rear. Rears have a slightly different part number because they’re dual spring. Fronts are single. On some sites they slip the x in (and the two series of shocks are nearly identical on the outside) but the people that built them do not consider them “x” series. Your shock even says performance series on the reservoir. They’re exactly the same as mine. Exact same machine, same Year, same colour, same trim, same everything. Also, if you look up images of podium x series, the reservoir is usually ribbed and not flat. That being said. The seal kits for the 2.0 x and qs3 series maybe the same between the two series.

@@ontariooutdoorsman is your machine 2 or 4 seat?

Ok good to know. The one thing I wish was that they would sell the seals like are in the shocks when new. When new they have an o ring and a seal. The aftermarket is a bigger seal only no o ring. You have to buy a new bearing head to get the original seal combo. Thanks for the info. It will help when looking up parts.
