I got 350hrs, in extreme enduro, in previous version, the Fox Instinct X, to the extent of now having holes in the soles, having glued the front twice after ripping it to shreds and having rocks literally go thru the boot into my toes (but lets be fair this was after 280hrs of no problems at all), riding in -30C which makes the plastic like glass (buckles snap after each ride), but the point I'm trying to make is even in those conditions those boots were amazing! They are literally made for Spartans!!! I tried dozens of different brands and types of boots, Fox is my number one to go to for extreme enduro, now happily to upgrade to these and put my torn to shreds old boots on the Hall of Fame Wall of Enduro Boots, they've become like family to me 😆 For extreme enduro, for me, nothing beats Foxs' really.
Looks like a good evolution , I got the previous Instinct as I felt very comfortable in them and like the more amplified style, looking forward to the shoot out review!!
@@blakebaumer2675 Yeah, I have been through two sets of the outgoing gen. The major differences are going to be grip, mobility, buckles, and fit. The rubber material on the burn guard, medial side, and outsole is much grippier than the prior gen. The boot feels stiffer when flexed forward (I personally like this, provided support without it feeling like a brick lol). The buckles are much easier to snap in and out of place (doesn’t hurt hands anymore). Lastly there’s no irritating pinch points on the foot ankle or leg area. The boot feels snug/secure without losing any comfort. Hope this helps!
@@anthonymoreno57 would you rather have the old pair back when you compare peg feel? I have techs and I just feel like they are a very pointy and stiff boot. Been wearing them All my life but would like to try another.
@@Cmoney111 Yes, the older gen boot does have more peg feel and I prefer that buuutttttt the updates on the new Instincts make that trade off worth it (IMO). After having 10 ish rides on them it’s not as noticeable. Highly suggest you try the new gen!
Thanks for this Chase! I’m seriously thinking about making the switch from my Tech 10’s. My only concern with switching over to the Instinct earlier was the ankle support and stiffness, but it looks like the Instinct 2 has made upgrades to that. I’ll checking out a size 12 soon ;)
Chase you being a fan and true user of the Instinct how would you rate the ware n tare of it? for example I have been reading people complaining about how quick the ultra tech grip inside wears out.
I haven't heard anything negative about that. Charles did a review on his Motions after about 70 hours of use and they held up pretty dang good (go watch it). The new Instinct is still my favorite boot right now. Only thing I've ever had happen to any of my instincts is the screw on the pivot bold backed out one time. But Fox quickly got me a replacement and I just used some medium thread locker and problem was solved - Chase
How drastic Is that Peg feel difference compared to the last gens? Ive allways been one to prefer Protection over weight and flexibility but after 2 years im ready to just throw everything out the window and get a nice set of comfortable boots and based on the most extensive research ive done the instinct Seems to Reign in that category
It's hard to say just how much peg feel they lost, but I can say this, I now think the Tech 10 has more peg feel than the Instinct. But, the Instinct is and feels very lightweight, plenty of protection, and the comfort is hard to beat IMO. I think you'd be happy with a pair of the Instinct 2.0 or the Motion. - Chase
@@rmatvmc Seems like the instincts are gonna be the way to go Ive been using the Sg12s and it seems that everything that i wished was better in my personal opinion is present on the Instincts the Sg12s are just not great for all day usage After doing several laps im just about ready to take them off for a bit since they still are a bit on the heavier side and than throw them back on when im ready again and it seems like you dont get much feel for the shifter or brake through the sole feels like im on a plank of wood ive devoloped a muscle memory pattern for the brake as thats the only thing you can really do about it Duration and protection have allways been top notch its a High quality boot all together but Still looking forward to Getting into something different and trying out what Fox has to offfer
You know, I think I would actually put the Tech 10 in front now. The Instinct feels much lighter though and is probably the most comfortable boot I have. - Chase
Excellent review, thank you, Chase, I wear a size 8 in the old Instinct, but I always wished they were a bit wider and slightly longer. Would I carry over to size 8 in the 2.0, or did the recent Last change the sizing? I wear size 8 in the Tech 7 as well.
👌 great video. I noticed in this review and on the web page why is the left boot just a tad Higher than the other not a deal breaker just something I noticed. In the old days I could understand for exhaust pipes . Great product spotlight.
Yeah, I'm not sure why haha. We didn't notice that until we had filmed the video. I don't know if the Motion is just a shorter boot or if it's because they were a pre-production sample - Chase
Well I have used for more than 10 years the Instict boots. Now I own 2 pairs and the main issue for me and many other is the replacement sole. I've complained a lot about this issue because the front of the boot and side are destroyed and even If I take it a replace the small sole it didn't matter. The Toe and Side remained the same. As an Enduro Rider this is not acceptable at all. Regardless from this I've changed to Leatt 5.5 and that makes me smile every day! So Honestly these changes from Fox took a lot of time to do. I know a few hundreds of riders that they cannot stand fox because they had the same issue. Now the Lottery Question is: Is the Sole Compatible with the old Boots? If they are hands down to Fox. If they don't I Just have now 2 pairs do get into the trash bin. Also the customer support here in Portugal ( Europe) is non existent. They have to listen more! Peace!
The smallest size that we in the instinct is an 9, but we do carry a size 8 in the Motion. Fox does offer sizes 5, 6, and 7 in the Motion as well, but we don't have any of those right now.
Seeing 1947gms (4.3) pounds for instinct size 10 and 1760gms (3.9) for motion per boot listed on the Fox site. About the same as Tech 7 and 10. SG12 is 2200gms
I really like them problem is I'm a vet rider and I'm pretty set on Troy Lee design garb if I get Fox boots that means the rest of my gear has to follow blah blah blah... Hmm
