Dr. Wako, Would you indulge us in a knife collection update video? Love to see how things have evolved over the years. I think the last time you did one was 2012! :)
Another great video, and you might be pleasantly surprised with Cruwear when used out in the field. From what I've read in BR group and watched DBK videos, it's proven to have longer edge retention than 3v without losing it's toughness. Please share results when you can 👍🏼, hope you're all doing well there. 🙏🏼
Big respect to you Professor! Always very detailed videos. Learned how to sharpen knives from you. Please always stay this passionate on you hobby. DDS from Russia.
Amazing you are awsome you got me so addicted to barkriver knives looks like i need to think about picking up one of the ext's thanks for the great videos love them all
Keep the videos coming! Dr.Wako may I recommend a knife called the Realsteel Bushcraft 2 or 3. The Realsteel Bushcraft is my favorite hunting knife! I have had 100s of knives but I finally found my favorite. It is made out of D2 steel check them out. Thanks again Dr.
I believe the S45 is for better rust and patina prevention. The replacement for S35vn. I don’t think it has better edge retention than cru-wear, 3V and certainly not Elmax.
You will need the buffing wheel. You already have Barkriver white compound. Buffing wheel will make the handle shine as new again. After it I would clean it with IPA and afterwards pritect it with mineral oil used for chopping boards. It is food safe. Camelia oil and linseed oil would work. Heck even hand cream would bring some fats in the handle.
You are going to love Cru-Wear! It sharpens like a dream and gets VERY Sharp. The only downside is it is not as stainless as S45VN. Cry-Wear is one of my favorite steels. The S45VN, I think you will like also because it has very good stainless properties but the Nitrogen in it will help get sharpness that you find in non-stainless steels.
Good Morning Sir, a little off topic I was just wondering about the Haida brand of folding knives and what type of quality they are. I have a fellow offering a Haida Leisure time folding lock back knife for sale in less then average condition. He is asking $40 Canadian and I was just wondering what they would be compared to here in North America? Perhaps Buck or something similar? Thank you so much and I love your channel you taught me how to convex sharpen. Stay safe and take care.
I've reached a conclusion there is no knife which does all the jobs nicely. Knife is purposeful. My best bushcraft knife is Bushcrafter 2/3 grind and my best hunting knife is on this video.
About twice a year wipe down the Rams Horn handle with mineral oil(baby oil) to preserve it. Wipe it on let it set over night and wipe off the excess the next morning. Treat it before taking it out hunting. Do not use any petroleum based oils on it my friend they are bad for it.
You cut yourselves on one of your fox rivers. You gave it one hell of an edge and it bit you bad. You had to give yourself stiches. Do you remember that ?
Very nice job perfecting your new knife my friend. Another(better?) term for "I don't care" is I'm not concerned or it doesn't bother me would probably be better. Of course I'm not trying to be mean regarding your use or words as I don't know how to speak Japanese. I love all you video's. Good luck with all your hunting. Looking forward to seeing you reaping your rewards very soon.
@@virtuovice please tell me how or what do you do to clean the blood out of inside of sheaths? I know it's not a lot but when you feild clean you've put them back in sheaths with blood on them.
@@virtuovice side-note they call the handle shape coke bottle with the swell in middle you could talk to them at DLT trading about different handle shapes.
I am desperately looking for a Cru-Wear EXT-1. I have one in 3V, but am really interested in getting one in CW. Let me know if anyone has one for sale ✌
