Fox River Fishing Line and Lure Cleanup

My buddy Jason Younk and I decided to take a trip down to De Pere, Wisconsin to do a little cleanup in the Fox River at Voyageur Park. He had a hard time with his buoyancy, but I slayed the lures. I enjoyed his company and assistance! When we were leaving, another diver and his assistant (Wade and Chris) arrived to do some cleanup also. 😃

Wow what a haul! So many snags in that part of the river! When I was a kid we used to go past the power lines (it was legal back then to do so) and we'd lose a lot of jigs up there!

I dove up there before too. Lots of rebar, concrete and other miscellaneous stuff.

@@EdtheDiver oh the rebar!!!! I pulled some of it up once and it had dozens of lures on it! How my 10 pound fireline was able to handle pulling up such a piece off the bottom amazed me! I remember catching HUGE white bass up there as a kid using a jig and chartreuse twister tail. Good times!

Awesome finds Ed and another great video! What a great idea using the scoop to hold your lures instead of your hand and ripping up your gloves. Now if only you did the Michael Jackson look by having a chainlink glove for your left hand over your diving glove for grabbing lures and avoiding being snagged you would be set!!! Also, and just a suggestion, I wonder if you had a give away of just a couple lures each week if that would help your community grow as word got out. Just a thought. Keep up the awesome videos!

Thanks John! I do LIVE shows on TikTok a few times a week and give away a LOT of stuff. 😁 I’ve done it on RU-vid last year, but not many people were watching LIVE RU-vid. Any glove with small holes will give me problems. I’ll just keep buying new gloves every 10 dives. 🤣

Can you describe the purpose for the felt ?

The felt that you see is the overlap of the felt. Rocks are installed on top of it to keep the felt down, and erosion from happening. After time, and getting snagged MANY times, it gets loose and ripped up. I just cleaned all the lures off that felt 2 weeks prior and threw a few rocks back on top of the felt. Didn’t hold very long and built up another mess of lures…

That makes sense, but I've never seen a river with felt before only rocks. I also live a lot farther south, maybe thats the difference. Thanks
