@masklavier Mastertouch also has a roll #LP6810 that contains Charleston, Black Bottom, Birth of the blues and Five foot two…. But this MeloDee roll is one I would have chosen when available and not having the Mastertouch roll 😁
It's been out of print for a long time. However, they pop up on ebay somewhat frequently. You want to look for MelOdee M-105 box. No artist is listed. The box is green. There were a bunch of the M (medley) series. I have a couple of them and love each one. Good luck!
Is it just me or is this Zez Confrey's Charleston arrangement from the 20 series Ampico line? I've actually never seen Ampico titles published on Mel-O-Dee, only Duo-Art ones.
This one isn't a Zez compilation. I have that AMPICO roll and they are different. Some people kind of criticize these MelOdee rolls saying they're not very technical bla bla bla. I don't care. I understand what MelOdee was doing.... they were trying to please the masses with popular tunes. They were crowd pleasers, not major works of art. They succeeded.
@@SevenPlus65 Yeah it's not a compilation of Zez's work but that Charleston at the start is nearly identical to Confrey's Ampico roll that you also have. Mel-O-Dee, along with Meloto, often took titles from the Duo-Art catalog, tweaked a few notes to beef them up and then punched them as standard rolls but I still haven't seen any example but this that quotes an Ampico roll, only Duo-Arts weirdly enough.
