What do you expect him to do, bite the fox? He probably wasn't armed. The dog also could have run in the direction of the human for protection but chose not to.
@pranav r They may be weak but they are relentless & viscous when they want to be they are also very fast. This old slow dog wouldn't of stood a chance. The dog seems also quite timid probably due to the breed it is not being used to violent encounters. If it was a Rottweiler or an Akita breeds that are supposed to protect their owners & houses then it would of been a different story.
@Terry Melvin did you watch the video? The dog wasn't fighting back because clearly it's an old and distressed dog getting bitten by sharp fangs while the asshole filming is probably enjoying the show
Beyond what everyone else has already pointed out there’s always a possibility that the fox could transmit a disease to the dog so this was really irresponsible on so many levels
There is clearly something going on here outside our field of vision. My impression is that the dog is persistently trying to approach an area where the fox does not want the dog to go, possibly a den with kits that the dog has scented and is interested in. The fox is nipping the dog and running away trying to get the dog to chase it in the opposite direction it is heading. Foxes aren’t dumb animals, this fox is putting itself at great risk here. It seems pretty clear to me that this fox is trying to lure the dog away from the wooded edge of the field/yard. If the fox was truly “attacking” the dog, e.g. if it was rabid, it would most likely show more serious aggressive behavior and try to do some serious damage to the dog - which clearly is not what’s happening here. That being said, the owner not calling the dog away and simply filming the encounter shows that he neither cares or the welfare of his dog or the welfare of the wildlife on his property. More important to get “likes” by posting the incident on the net for complete strangers.
Frankly if this scenario is true, I wouldn't know what to do. I can't keep my dog to hunt the fox's babies, so better the fox deter him to do so, as long as he doesn't bleed the dog too much for me it's fine. Everybody here complaining about why the man does not act, pff, let the nature find its own balance. A wild fox is more precious than a dog, it's natural wildlife, while the dog is a living product...
Obviously fox cant Hurt this dog. He just wanted to see what he can do or learn how to protect himself. Dogs supposed to be our guards and not us be their.
@@skinnykoisonly6foot2inches48 Your dog or not would not be a pussy and let the dog get attacked ,I Would have gotten a stick and clobbered that Fox ....I bet you film a elderly person getting attacked by a young person and you do 2 shits about it
Jim this video would of been way better if he just started running towards the fox so we could see him scurry away. This must be some city boy recording this or something
I'm sure the fox knows the dog is elderly. The fox can take him down easily and all he has to do is wear him down. Which he did in just a matter of minutes. This guy really does not deserve his dog, he just video taped it and stood back like a POS.
@@brownpleasure9320that doesn’t matter? The fox is more agile, faster and smarter the fox only had to wear the dog down and get a decent bite on its throat or genital area (which it was trying to do) and the dog would be in trouble
Foxes are usually pretty frightened of dogs as dogs are quite fearsome and wolves and dogs have always been very vicious towards foxes despite them all being in the same order Canis. Though if the dog is old or weak enough the fox might just take its chance.
@@ThiefKingofLegend humans have exploited dogs (and the dog's tendency to wipe out things that look like them because of competition) to hunt and kill their own wild cousins hence why foxhound, wolfhound etc do exist
@@ihsahnakerfeldt9280 This is a mother fox with cubs in the area. She is encouraging the dog to move along. I've raised three foxes from cubs over the decades. They are extremely playful and protective.
Two opposing views. 1. The fox trying to kill the old dog by first taking out its hind legs. 2. The fox is trying to drive the dog away from its family that maybe nearby. Either way, the old dog sees humans as its pack and the humans fail to help the old dog. Personal opinion is that the fox is not playing. It will wear the dog down until it's out of breath and then nip and bite at the hind legs of the dog. People should get the dog out of there.
The fox is not going for his hind legs. He's going for his balls. This is common in the wild. He even gets them at one point. Thats when the old boy really squeals and squats a bit. The owner was doing an abysmal job of being the pack alpha. The dog was obviously desperate for some support. likely trained not to defend himself as well, even if he could catch the fox....
There is NOWHERE in the United States where prey is so scarce that a fox would risk its own life by trying to hunt a grown ass big dog like this, even if old.
Ben Simmons cats are nowhere near capable of killing a young fox. A adult fox bite can kill a cat. The big dog started limping. Imagine a cat taking a bite like that from a fox.
No way that fox csnt do shit to that dog and they both know it. The only reason a fox would even stay in sight of that dog is if it had pups in the area which we have to assume is the case here. The only thing in danger was the fox but it had to protect its litter.
Gemstone Hawksworth most likely had cubs near by in a den so is just trying to scare the dog off from its territory as foxes are nocturnal and only hunt at night
You clearly have never had chickens. They do hunt in day light. I have also been chased by a fox in daylight until it changed it's mind. The owner is definitely a prick though.
@@treett4268 Go tell that to this female fox who almost ripped my face because I was working near her den. These things are usually fleeing but sometimes they can be nasty as hell.
@@treett4268 That's my experience and what I saw. On my side I don't see why I would listen to your "bullshit" too but I will because I respect your opinion despite I think it's false. A fox attacked me and I said they usually flee but they can be nasty as hell. That's all. All foxes have different behaviour despite the "general one" you want to give them.
It's not playing, it wants to wear him down. It was calling for its buddies to come help kill it and eat. If they have a fox problem then they need to add a faster dog. I'm not sure what bread that would be. Maybe a Doberman? The old guy needs some help.
@@Seekarr I had it with a Bird. That Bird was fantastic. It was pretending a crippeld Bird My Dog try to catch then of sudden the Bird could fly like a Fighter Jet
Whoever recorded this has a mental problem. You were suppose to run there and help poor dog. Obviously he is a big boy just trained to be a pet so he can't fight. The fox is using same technique I've seen coyotes are using. Hope big boy is ok now
Jason The Terrible do you know how to read English?! He said the person recording should help the dog, regardless of who is the owner, it is a pet and old fighting an young wild animal, you are the cancer here
jason the terrible really living up to his name. It doesnt matter whos dog it is you dirtbag. Help the old pet out. All youd have to do is walk up to both of them and the fox would run away. Stupid pricks like jason are whats wrong with the world today. Dont be like jason.
Paul Mccallum Mmmm... I guess that fox was fighting guerrilla war, heh heh 👹 May be he thought :"I'll try to hurt his Alquiles insertion, back in his leg and he'll be lost" What a masterpiece of a predator Mother Nature created... Hope old pall big doggy resisted, becouse wouldn't take long till he got tired... in open field, without cameraman help, the fox would've eaten old pall doggy.
Admittedly I would be freaked out if that was my dog, however the fox is clearly not trying to hunt the dog but rather pester the dog away from her territory (maybe even her pups)
it probably is. Fox's don't usually come out during the day, and indiscriminate attack of an animal which it should by all means be afraid of... sounds rabid to me.
the way the fox is Swooping in for a Bite after the dog looks away Reminds me of Every multiplayer Game with Pvp and you are just minding your own business
I agree. It looks like the fox wanted to play but the dog is old judging by the gray around its mouth and didn't want to play. If the dog had more stamina it would chase the fox away;
Peter Nachtwey ummm...fox wanted to play?! lol no the fox was going after a weaker & more vulnerable pray. At the end the dog stops leaving because the last bite by the fox hurt it's leg & it was limping
@@xblade149 the wild type dogs view ALL dogs that way..food. Now if you raise a wolf cub and a dog puppy together than their used to each other...the wolf doesn't look at the dog as anything else..only his friend. You can raise a cat and dog together..they do fine. Wild and domestic can live together if they are raised up being used to it. If not it can get nasty. I know. I've been farming a while now and you see all kinds.
Smaller canids like foxes? Nah the fox was trying to get the dog out of an area near its Den full of fox puppies A wolf would view a hound as competition and thus eliminate it
Lannister Power with each other they do not with another type of creatures. Some creatures live close to people s they get use to them but in the back woods and up in the mountains were they are not use to people they dont play they got a job to do
And animals are smart it plays it smart with the dog cause its smaller and weaker then the dog I bet of that was one of are baby goat or sheep the fox would of went straight for the kill
I see the stark difference between the health and fitness of an animal with its wild diet and one with dry corn gluten soy protein kibble with artificial amino acids and vitamins and minerals.
Was thinking the same thing. This overweight elderly animal has probably been fed toxic kibble his entire life. You tell just by looking. It's so sad. I wouldn't expect anything less from an owner that not only watches but records his dog being harassed by a wild animal.
All these smart people assuming it's the dog's owner who is filming it, who told you that? May be it was a random passerby who didn't want to get hurt himself.
There probably was a den with kits nearby. Foxes don't see something larger than themselves such as a canine/dog, as prey. This is a attempt to annoy the dog away from the area.
Not angry? Why is the dog showing his teeth then? huh? You would prob be the same person I’m the vid like “Omg a Fox Is attacking my dog! I need views! The old dog will die anyway.” you can’t be that way!
No way on earth would a fox seriously attack a big dog with the intent to predate on it, even if it was an old dog. Medium and large dogs fuck foxes up any day. The fox was most likely trying to lure it away from its pups.
Besause he can't. He is to old and to slow. You can see his distress wenn he barked and show his teeth at the end of the video. But every time, he tried to walk on, his rear legs were attacked by the fox.
Missy Jes why should the fox be hurt? Because it was defending its territory where it probably has a den and pups to look after. That’s why it should be hurt? Gimme a break.
@@piratesssss bc there was a human withing meters of it and it didnt run away, and bc its attacking while the dog is running away, instead of just going back to the den
VedaOPZGuide the fox is too preoccupied trying to drive the dog away from its den to worry about a human unless he starts to approach it. The Dog is the invasive one here in the fox’s territory not the other way around.
It's obviously a male dog, so unless the fox is gay, that's not going to happen. Joking aside, male foxes will sometimes show an interest in female dogs in season, but it never ends in mating because the dogs aren't interested.
No offense, but an animal is animal .... if you don’t want a specific animal to be attacked by others keep a good watch on it and don’t let roam about... It gets into the Wild and you aren’t around when it’s attacked by a wild animal too bad...nature is nature... don’t like it? Complain to god about it
Admit it, every video like this, there's always that guy in comment section that is like "what's the owner doing? He doesn't deserve a dog". Come on, no one told you to click on this video, but you still do because the title looks cool and now you're crying as if there's a chance that the fox would win over a dog.
The fox is being either playful or territorial because notice how small the fox is. It knows that it cant take on that big dog. It might just have babies near by or food. The fox can also be playful. Foxes don't even attack domestic cats because they are about the same size. Other animals even display the tagging heal behaviour for attention. For an example my cat bites my heals when she has brought me a toy of hers. So in conclusion, I don't think it's a direct attack. It could just be trying to directing possible threats away or a playful gesture.
For those overzealous people out there advocating the blowing away of the Fox, dont get your panties in a bunch. The fox isn't trying to kill the dog. I suspect the Fox has some kits near by. Foxes tend to keep away from dogs that size. Infact, they rarely even kill smaller animals like cats unless it's something they intend to eat like a chicken or rodent. The person to blame for that poor old dog's plight is it's owner for allowing it to be in that situation in the first place. If it were a coyote or wolf then it would be a different story.
I think you're right; the fox is playing and the dog is constantly wagging his tail. That said, I think the old fella is getting a bit pissed off with the game.
Fox is a predator but rarely kills a rival over claimed territory. Foxtrot is 2 foxes doing a lot like what you see here. Rarely ever an injury between two fighting foxes. Dog, domesticated, just don't know the rules. In Russia, they have been taming foxes since the 1950s and foxes become the same as dogs. It's called "domestication syndrome" and it's not fair to the animal, but people do what they do.
