THIS IS A HUNTING VIDEO. VIEWER DISCRETION ADVISED.
Some tips/hints that have worked well for us when whistling/calling foxes in Australia. We talk a little about the basics of fox calling but more about using the Tenterfield whistle in combination with modern electronic callers.

Hi Guy's back to pick your minds again, have just about finished the rifle rest on the front of the quad added a cross bar holds the GPS and the GOPRO . working on a double rifle rack for the front, i would like to try the fibreglass rifle scabots , did you use a release agent on you timber mould before glassing over ?? and how many coats of glass matting are in yours? have done a bit of fibreglass work before, back when GOD played fullback for Jerusalem. so awhile ago. Thanks for your help.

For the Scabbards make a timber mold in two halves to the shape and size of the internal dimensions you want allowing for the thickness of your liner whether it be sheep skin or artificial wool. The mold should be in two halves vertically split down the middle. When you are happy with the dimensions and the timber is sanded smooth use a release agent and glass over both halves with one layer of fiber. Once dry use a knife to get the excess off the edges and release each half. You should now have two mirror images that should be ready to put together. Now you use a waterproof contact adhesive to fix the liner of choice to the inside of each half. Once done hold them together with a bit tape and use glass strips in the middle to start the fixing of the two halves being careful not to get resin on the inside. Once the two halves are together now is the time to glass any fixings to the outside before glassing over the whole lot again until you are happy with the strength. Depending on thickness of fiber usually another 1-2 layers of glass over the whole lot will suffice. Then you can paint or use a colour in the final gelcoat to achieve the result you want. I hope this helps. If you wouldn't mind posting this question here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6reywt0Hm6c.html I will use this same answer for the benefit of others.

Hi GUY'S thank you for your videos,they are the next best thing if you can't be out there, just wondering what clamps your buddy Ian, used on his Kawasaki atv, for the front shooting bar. i am just about to make one for my Polaris, any help would be a step in the right direction. CHEERS. Rowdy

If you are talking about Leigh's bike in this video I will ask him today and get back to you. Please confirm this is the bike your question is aimed towards. Ian does have a Kawasaki but not pictured in this video. If you are talking about those "Y" clamps on the front I personally wouldn't waste your time unless you don't treasure your firearms.

Yeh sorry about that what i want to do is the same as you guy's have done and use it as a shooting rest,so i can see what you did on your atv, but i like the narrow one on the other bike (LEIGH'S } I HOPE I GOT IT RIGHT. The clamp that was used onto the handle bars then run the tube over the top. cheers

Ok mate. I can help you out here. I good trick to mount anything to your handlebars is to go to a motorcycle wreckers and see if they have any old motorcross bars that have the clamps that hold the cross member in them. You can use these clamps to fix anything to your bars and they do the job well. Leigh used a slightly different method and I can get him to answer this a bit better when he comes up today. Anyway here is a better picture that might give you some ideas. www.hunt101.com/data/500/medium/Leighs_Rest.jpg For other ideas on your bike I did do this video if you haven't already seen it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6reywt0Hm6c.html

have you tried getting them with a bow? thats my plan but i doubt it will be easy
@BoltActionProductions
@BoltActionProductions 5 лет назад
Dan I have hunted with the bow on and off for years and only recently sold my Bowtech Allegiance. I can't see me doing a lot of bow hunting anymore but loved the challenge of calling in foxes especially while using the Bowtech. One thing that is a must is being able to have both hands free once the fox is within range (for obvious reasons with the bow). For this reason at the bare minimum you will need to be able to use your caller hands free while in your mouth. I struggle to use the Tenterfield style whistle without holding it to change the angles and placement in the mouth so it makes hands free very hard. The old button whistle came in very handy here and I would often start out with the Tenterfield and then swap to the button once they were within bow range. Still a challenge but doable. The little T2 caller we have been using lately would come in very handy with the bow as you can swap from one to the other. Keep me posted on how you go.
