Ford Fox body 5.0 mustang used car sale prices are falling and will probably continue to do so into 2023. As interest rates increase and people back off on spending, the prices of these cars will - in all likelihood - follow suit. Many factors will contribute to this price drop and in this video we discuss them in detail and share our opinions on them.

I was in high school in the late 80's and used to day dream about owning a GT. Finally bought a 93 GT in 2004 and it still puts a smile on my face every time I walk up to it or start it up. The only car I've ever owned that is a conversation piece every time I drive it. Can't tell you how many people have asked me to call them first if I ever decide to sell it (which I won't).

Excellent video, points and well thought out explanations. I enjoy watching your videos since I first subscribed a few days ago. We are close in age and can relate to the high school days. Had a couple of sweet fox bodies and sold my last ‘93 LX for $7k back about 17 years ago and regret it now. Hope you’re right about the prices cooling off and hoping to get a clean turn key car with some tasteful upgrades for about $15k. Thanks again and keep making these great ti watch videos 👍

The last 20 years of marriage and kids I’ve wanted to get another old Mustang. 65-73. But these are well out of my price range. So I settled on the next best thing that brought back memories. The car that was actually popular in my teens and early twenties. When I started looking I noticed I just might be able to afford one. Got excited, got one and it has scratched the itch. Honestly I’ve probably had just as much fun. They are reliable. Can wrench on.

Right on the money, I looked for a while for mine and really wanted a Capri so in one sense, yes I paid a bit too much but on the other hand I got what I wanted (for the most part) and I certainly won't loose any money if I for some reason loose my mind and decide to sell it. I suspect there will be some good deals out there for those who have patience and know what they're looking for.

If new high horsepower ones are 50k+ and all the other associated costs with new ones like insurance taxes and such I think that interest will prevail as even older 200hp versions can be just as much fun to own and drive and leave enough funds to modify as you might like.

The 3-4 minute mark is dead on. I literally wrote that up in a more lengthy way, a couple weeks ago in a fox FB group. HOWEVER, I don't think prices will go down, because I don't think most folks grasp the true prices. Everyone on FB loves to comment. A fox is posted, 45 replies and the post is deleted by the seller 48 hours later. Did it sell? What did it sell for? No one really knows except two people. :) You have way too many people stuck in 2002 and don't know actual prices. I also don't think anyone really overpaid in 2022. I mean there's a lot of variables. Stock, modded, full out race car? Hatch, notch, vert? Color? MIleage? If someone wants to relive their HS days and finder a white 87-89 GT with grey interior, with mild boltons within 4 hours of their house.. how many more like that would they find if they passed on that one because they think the seller wants about a grand more than it should be? Maybe zero. When you want specifics, you'll have to pay. That's one factor that can push a value up to a single buyer, and that's all it takes. You'll still get Joe Doe say he got a GT just like that for 4K cheaper... but a different color, it's a 92, airbag wheel thus, red interior, and has a carbed 306.

I had a bunch of foxbodies and never would have imagined they would be hard to find but they kinda are in stock shape at least. You for got to mention cars for clunkers in the early 2000’s in the USA. I’m not sure if Canada had this but the government was giving everyone $5k for their junkers to buy new cars and the junkyards were full of foxbodies going to the crusher. I tried buying some but the junkyards were not aloud to sell them after the paycheck was sent out. Love my 91 strawberry gt and will never get rid of it. It’s a time machine just sitting in it and reminiscing the late 90’s

One problem is that a lot of these cars are not surviving the decades well. Most people did not garage them/ not drive them in salt. And so they are rotted and having major issues. You just dont see them anymore. Mine(88 lx vert heads cam intake race chip dyno tuned) is between a bubble wrap and sunday driver. I put like 1000km a year give or take and its very well maintained. Not sure what its worth but I wouldn't even entertain anything under 35k. The curb appeal is massive. Best bang for your buck car maybe ever.

@@KASLCustoms one thing I’ve tended to use as my gauge of the market it 93 Cobras. I’ve noticed as of late that prices are finally coming down on them. I agree in the fact that the flippers had their fun. I also think with a possible bad market coming the fair weather buyers my be looking to unload to free up some cash. On the short term, the prices on Fox Body mustangs may slide down a bit. But, on the long term (15-20 years) the price on the Fox Mustangs is going to go through the roof. And here's why, go to any Cruise Nite and most of the classic car owners (Chevelle's, '69 Z 28 Camaros, GTO's, and Mopars) are over 55 years old. In 15-20 years these same car owners will be pushing 70 years old and will not be buying classic cars. In fact, most will put their cars up for sale. In 20 years, most of the current classic cars from the 1960-70's willbe worth only a fraction of what they are worth today. In other words, the Classic Car market will be flooded with way more cars than there will be buyers. And they keep restoring more every year! Now, as you mentioned in this video, your age group always wanted the Fox Mustang. And they will get to a point in their life (very shortly) where they can afford an extra week-end car. And I also believe that the prices on the convertible Fox Bodies will take off and surpass the GT and the NotchBack. And here is why- The same thing happened with the 1963-67 Corvette and many other Muscle Cars from the 1960's-70's. When those cars were new, everyone wanted a hardtop for better performance. But, fast forward to now, all those senior classic car owners want an open air roadster. So, my prediction is that the convertible Fox Body Mustangs in GT or at least 5.0 trim, will be the most collectible Fox Body in the future. nts and

I feel like at one point during the pandemic, every market was valued at an all time high, and then as inflation started to kick in, The economy shifted in such a way where you now have less people spending money on toys. Foxbodies may not be as cheap as they used to be, but the reality hobby cars in general have become more expensive

This market I'm in, Vancouver BC. Lots for sale for big money but we're not seeing any changing hands. Guys are just fishing for $$. GT's are still available under 10K, coupes should come back down to earth soon. With 9.9% lease rates on new sports cars, crazy inflation and mortgage rates. It's all going to trickle down, everyone will put the brakes on spending. There is a chance fox body prices will come back to 2019 prices, back to $1000 4 eyed coupes. Oh ya.

As a builder and fox fan I am happy. The prices from facebook fake fox guys were insane. Ive been saving them since the 90s. No douche who drives a Prius needs to swindle guys on facebook for a roller notch that costs 8k. FING IGNORANT. Fake interest guys ruined the scene. Notches shouldn't be 15k clean and Cobras shouldn't be 25k plus. Its disgusting. Some idiots are paying 25k plus for my feature. Its a 5k car all day. I want to buy heads, and cams, and parts for normal prices. Guys want 2500 for a cobra intake with a shitty paint job now. They pay to change their oil.

Can’t get a 20 year old rusty Civic where I’m from, let alone a clean classic fox for 5k. A car is going to be worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Some dudes are definitely overhyping the prices while others are still trying to live in the past. Everything has skyrocketed in price these past few years. Including clean foxbody mustangs. People shouldn’t be bothered one way or the other. We can’t control inflation and prices. Only what we spend our money on. $2500 for a cobra intake though 😆

Good analysis, basically to sum up there is a simple reason Fox Body Mustangs became overpriced: "A fool and his money are soon parted." 1.) The FB was treated as a commodity to be flipped by price speculators looking to make a quick buck. 2.) Impatient buyers didn't recognize the inflated pricing bubble, kept throwing more money at them and paid more than they should. 3.) Some people bought extra FB to store as a future investment, parts car to supply the market, making even 4 cylinder rollers worth more than they should be. It became like a feeding frenzy, buyers were traveling around searching everywhere to get in on the craze. That created a hype train along with the proliferation of RU-vid channels about it. Some people made good money off of people's naivety.

"A fool and his money are soon parted." No. Way. That's a Chevy or Dodge buyer. Nobody loses money on a Fox as long as they keep it in good condition. I bought My 1991 'vert GT for 5K 15 years ago. What's it worth today? I bought my 1993 Cobra for 14K in 2001. What's it worth today? Both cars are in great condition, though the Cobra is now a 347 stroker with other tasteful mods. Now, how much would any Dodge or Crapmaro of the same era be worth?

Gary I agree with some of what you’re talking about but some of it is like you’re calling your car a piece of s!@t… Keep in mind when the buyers market goes up it makes your beautiful green notch more valuable to others… for you it’s definitely valuable but to others a Fox body is a what if…. In my book Gary , I hope people get these cars and enjoy them like the old 68 and 69 Camaro and Chevy chevelle and old fast back mustangs that was 4000 dollars brand new and now look how much they bring… I was that guy in high school with a 93 Fox body GT And to me I say yes finally everyone sees how fun these cars are. That’s why I follow you and subscribed to your channel… but when you bash talking them I don’t really agree. These Fox body in my opinion is the best platform to make go fast with the new coyote engines and LS engines also with Hemi engines… These cars are bad ass and the new generation are making them more impressive and faster than our generation could ever. I also own a black notch and a white hatch and to me they are not for sale but it makes us Fox body lovers proud to see others appreciate what we grew up with,

Here's the thing; todays cars are too refined and fat. Even the GT's of today are too heavy, and you feel that. Driving a Fox is just that... driving. Driving a modern muscle car is like sitting in your comfy couch and being sling-shot. There's just no instant "OMG the world is coming to an end!" like there is when you hit the throttle on a Fox. I mean, could you imagine, Ford comes out with a < 3,500LB 2 seater that has no nanny features and just raw power and balance? Nope, we get a GT that weighs as much as an F150 pickup truck and has an engine that has to spin to the moon to make enough power to get it moving...
