I am Appalachian by birth. Thank you for sharing this resource. I learned of it when I was but a boy. I have been shaped by these ways as is piece of wood is shaped with the blade of a draw knife. Now I am but a form fit only to seek service to man. God bless you!

you should seek to service the earth. how can you have lived in the mountains and not know that?

@@furrealz6697 As if that is not obvious and the yearning ever to quench; earthly service elusive and a prize to be treasured when found.

Hey Fur, it's because he lived in the wilderness he learned that people, humans, are special and in the image of God, not nature. People are eternal, trees are not. A day of his service to people is worth more than your lifetime of serving rocks and trees.

I once owned the complete set of these wonderful books, and valued them very highly. I had to let go of them along the way due to hard times, and I miss them very much. Some of them are available as free PDF downloads if you care to do a websearch.

I used to read these in my grandparents' library in Roane County West Virginia. Some of the stories about the haints still keep me up at night! The baby on the chimney, the black dog, and the woman who met the devil in the woods

I own books 1-3, my father owned more, the whole set i belive,But I must say your book (northern) bushcraft which I have just received,is the easiest to read and the most to the point, only followed by ray mears' book.my library is quite small though, but of high quality nonetheless.

Back in, I guess the late 70s, a school library had these books. I looked at them a few times, and didn't understand their purpose. But back then, I had a very narrow intellectual focus. As an older person, I think it's fascinating these books were created.

I just bought northern bushcraft haven't started it yet. I am reading bushcraft tips & tools by Tony Nester almost complete with it. Has a lot of useful tips. But Im sure your book will be a lot better thank you for your knowledge. Now all I need is a SBT.

You don't make wine or beer in a still. You can put wine or beer in the still and "distill" the alcohol from them, but that is usually a waste. A simple corn mash "beer" is all that is required, which would totally suck to drink but contain the required alcohol for distillation.
